In a Daze

August 20, 2012 by Julie 108 Comments

I’ve been in a daze all day.

While I’ve managed to get work done, I feel like the day is flying by, but not in an energetic “Where did the time go!?” kind of way. It has been more of an “I’m floating through life and can’t snap out of it” kind of day for this girl.

Lunch

Lately I’ve spent some extra time in the kitchen on Sundays prepping food for the week to make assembling lunch and dinner a breeze.

Yesterday I cooked up a big batch of quinoa, chopped vegetables and tossed some chicken breasts in the crock pot. Today all that prep work came in handy when I assembled a super-fast warm quinoa bowl for lunch.

In my bowl:

  • Quinoa
  • Chicken
  • Mushrooms
  • Broccoli
  • Cashews
  • Avocado

quinoa bowl

It filled me right up!

About an hour later, I remembered that there was something pretty darn fantastic tucked away in our freezer.

publix pretzel sensation ice cream

When I blogged about my love for Oreo Birthday Blast ice cream a few weeks ago, Kate encouraged me to try another new flavor: Publix Premium Pretzel Sensation.

Since then, this ice cream has been on my radar and when I saw it on sale for $3.50 at the grocery store yesterday, I put it in our cart.

My goodness, this stuff is incredible. If you love peanut butter and chocolate and live near Publix, this ice cream will knock your socks off.

Check out the thick ribbon of peanut butter:

The little bowl was delicious enough to bring me out of my daze.

Ice cream is always the answer.

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is your favorite ice cream flavor?

My answer: Oreo Birthday Blast! It’s a new flavor for me, but it was love at first bite. Chocolate marshmallow comes in a close second.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Oh the choices! I’d have to say cookie dough or Oreo. I don’t eat a whole lot of ice cream, but when I do, that’s what I like!

Trying to choose between ice cream flavors is an impossible and cruel task…I love vanilla heath bar crunch; coffee and oreos; half baked; brownie batter; the list is endless. There’s also an ice cream place near me that sells plain sweet cream ice cream, which I’d never had before. I think it’s only because this ice cream is so fantastic, but I’m becoming obsessed with this non-flavor too.

I don’t remember what brand it is, but I’ve had ice cream before that looks just like that one and it is to die for!

Once upon a time (i.e.: two months ago), I won an ice cream flavor creation contest, so I’d have to say that’s my favorite flavor because, you know, I created it. Haha. Mint ice cream with dark and white chocolate chunks and bits of shortbread cookie. I called it Scotland Yard (green = grass, dark and white chocolate = black and white sheep, shortbread = everywhere in Scotland). My brief claim to fame 🙂

That ice cream looks DELISH! Chocolate PB is probably my favorite to pick up at the grocery store–I just love the frozen PB ribbon floating through chocolatey deliciousness.

Sometimes I really like to try different flavors. You’ve gotta take a look at the website for my FAVORITE ice cream shop EVER. And if you ever swing through Delaware you have to try the banana caramel! Booger is actually really good too LOL.

I wish I had the ability to have a bowl of ice cream mid-day and not be tempted to continue the ice cream fest throughout the evening. I know you once mentioned on your blog that ice cream is a food you can’t really keep in the house because it’s something you really can’t resist… how have you been able to find a sense of “control” when it comes to foods like this? I would love to hear your thoughts on this cause it’s something I struggle with lately! I’m very much “all or nothing” with ice cream, cake, cookies, etc

Have you ever tried making your own Ice Cream? I stumbled upon a recipe the other day where you take almond milk, mix in your flavors (e.g. PB2, sugar free pudding, cocoa etc) freeze it up and then voila! Kinda reminded me of just freezing up a smoothie and then letting it soften a bit.

If I’m buying ice cream for home, I love vanilla bean. I know it’s boring.

But if I’m getting a cone it’s always tiger or cake batter. Or one shop here makes Nibs flavored and it’s the best.

Two of my food weaknesses are oreo and pistachio (not together). Another huge weakness of mine is dairy fat, so I love the topic of ice cream! Oreo is usually my go-to flavor; however, last week I picked up some Blue Bunny pistachio almond ice cream and oh my is that stuff is pretty darn delicious! I have a feeling more of that stuff will be finding its way to my freezer again in the future.

I am totally in a daze today as well! My brain keeps going and before I know it I’ve gotten so much work done but don’t remember doing much, haha.

As far as ice cream goes, I’d have to say either mint chocolate chip, Ben & Jerry’s Reeses or just plain ol’ vanilla (fro yo, preferably).

I totally have a case of the “Mondaze”, too. Ice cream is definitely the best way to cure it. I’m partial to Caramel Caribou (like Moose Tracks, but with caramel cups instead of peanut butter) with caramel sauce on top. I really can’t get enough of the stuff!

I am a frozen yogurt lover also…but back in the 90s Ben & Jerry’s had this Low Fat Chocolate Peppermint Patty flavor (don’t remember the exact name) and it had little bits of chocolate-covered peppermint patties in it. They discontinued it and I have mourned it ever since.
Now I make my own froyo using greek yogurt and coconut milk, with chocolate or fruit mixed in.
