Kinda Like Crab Meat

April 19, 2010 by Julie 23 Comments

I absolutely love imitation crab meat (also known as krab or surimi), the yummy meat often found in California sushi rolls.

While there’s no substitute for real crab, sometimes I crave imitation crab meat!

I picked up a small pack of the good stuff in the seafood section at the grocery store yesterday and used several of the “crab sticks” in a crab salad sandwich for lunch today.

Crab Salad

I enjoyed my crab salad on a lightly toasted whole wheat Arnold sandwich thin with a cup of Chobani Greek yogurt and a side of apple slices for dipping on the side.

That imitation crab meat sure made me want sushi for dinner!

Do you like sushi? What are your favorite rolls?

I love the California roll, the rainbow roll and the spicy tuna roll. So tasty!

mmmmm sushi…i love spicy tuna and spicy salmon, but there’s a sushi place here in colorado that has the “Multiple Orgasm Roll”…perfect description! it’s broiled salmon over a California roll with cream sauce. makes me die and go to sushi-gasm heaven every time 🙂

I like california rolls, avocado rolls, cucumber rolls, and sweet potato tempura rolls. But my absolute favorite part of sushi is…. seaweed salad. I could eat this by the plateful!

I do like sushi, but can only really handle the ones with veggies, shrimp or crab. I just can’t choke down the tuna, eel, etc!

Love love love love sushi! I also like the rainbow roll, as well as the nigiri with salmon or tuna (just rice with fish on top). Anything with avocado also floats my boat 🙂

I am a sushi snob, a piece of sashmi or nigiri and I am good to go. Although I am not a big roll eater, they just don’t do it for me.

I think I am the only person in the world who does not like sushi. I don’t think it’s gross or anything but I don’t care for it. If I’m going out to eat I want to eat something I enjoy. I’ve given sushi a try many times, but I just can’t do it.

Your food always looks so good! I love that you take so many pictures of what you cook! I was wondering how you get the pics up so quickly and easily after cooking and all that! How do you do it? Do you have any recommendations for someone just starting to blog??

    Thanks! 🙂

I don’t edit my pictures, which I think saves me some time. I just make them smaller so I can upload them right after I eat. I must admit that sometimes I eat while I’m blogging (like in the morning if I’m in a hurry), which also saves time, though I prefer to eat & then blog. I hope this helps!
