Lost Without Her

July 26, 2011 by Julie 66 Comments

We’re a little lost without this crazy lady in our lives.

wheat germ cookies 016

Seriously!

Ryan and I are so used to dedicating a good hour or so to Sadie’s evening walks or an evening trip to the dog park that we’re feeling a little lost without this typical commitment. What do we do???

We eat! Open-mouthed smile

We’ve been eating  dinner earlier than usual since we don’t have to wait until after we’ve taken care of Sadie to dig in.

We joined all the early birds at the hotel buffet for dinner around 5:30 p.m.

ulta 003

Tonight’s menu included chicken cordon bleu with roasted, buttered corn, which I served on top of a salad.

ulta 006

The corn was really good (I went back for seconds) but the chicken was only okay. I’d bet a million dollars that it was frozen and simply reheated, but I was hungry and ate it up.

This whole “free dinners at the hotel” thing is both a blessing and a curse. It’s a blessing in that we don’t have to pay for food and have our meals prepared for us, but a curse in that the options are very limited and the main courses remind me of cafeteria food.

A New Friend for Ryan

After dinner Ryan accompanied me on a trip to Ulta so I could pick up some of my favorite shampoo and conditioner.

While we were there, Ryan made a new friend!

2011-07-26_18-37-43_666 (1)

The Biebs! You know we love the little Bieber.

After I snapped this picture, Ryan said he should’ve done that little heart symbol all the Biebiacs (we made that up) do at his concerts.

heart hands

Oh yes.

And since I seriously tested Ryan’s masculinity by bringing him into Ulta and taking a picture of him and the Biebs, I escorted him to Dick’s Sporting Goods store where he regained his manhood.

As he browsed around the store, I spent my time in the Nike women’s clothing section and fell in love this sports bra…

2011-07-26_18-43-01_995

But part of me feels like it’s straight out of the ‘80s and I’d probably hate it in a month. In the end the $32 price tag did a great job of deterring me.

Now we’re back at the hotel and plan to spend the rest of the night relaxing.

I will be heading back to my parents’ house in St. Pete tomorrow, so I’m happy for some quality time with my husband tonight!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Is Sadie with your parents?? The first time I had to leave Edie at a kennel I honestly started bawling when we pulled out because I could hear her barking. It was a great kennel too, it was like a doggy daycare, and she was only there for two days. I’m such a sucker.

I totally hear ya on trying to figure out what to do with new-found free time! It can be strange at first to not have a structured thing to do each evening. She’ll be back before you know it though! That salad looks pretty good, but agree on the chicken.. ehh. 🙂

My husband stayed at an extended stay hotel for the good part of five months for work this year and had the same general feeling about the food. He had an expense account and often went out for dinner, but I’m not sure that was a much better option either. He was so happy to quit and have dinner cooked at home every night!

I feel your pain! I left my doggie (running buddy, full time entertainment, dinner cleaner upper) at my parent’s house this weekend, too. We are going on vacation next week and she will be at the gparents house for 3 weeks!! She annoys me so much sometimes, but I can’t live without her incessant optimism and tail wagging. Sadie will be so happy to see you this weekend!!

I think you made the right choice on the sports bra. I think it would’ve been one of those things that was super fun for a little bit but then you would’ve been like “why did I get this again?” down the road. Haha. I have many, many things like that in my closet that I wish I had never purchased 🙂

With all of my fur-babies through the years, I always feel like my right arm is missing when I’m away from them. Restless, incomplete, frequently thinking things like, “Does she think I’m not coming back?” Argh!

I hope you both find your new home soon!

PS, no way in h-e-double-hockey-sticks would I EVER get the Blonde Bomber into an Ulta store. Kudos – you are a better woman than I 🙂

I always feel like part of me is missing when I’m not around my puppy as well. Even though he has a great time at day care or being boarded if we’re gone for the weekend, it still breaks my heart. It seems like you’re doing a really good job still picking healthy choices at your hotel despite the lack of options.

I don’t know much about Bieber, but his “Bieblebers” are INTENSE. JB covered a friend of mine’s song, in Japan nonetheless, and within hours he went from a few thousand followers on Twitter to over half a million and his song was in the iTunes Top 10 for its category. The power they have is crazy!!!
