My dad’s job requires a lot of travel and while his office “home base” is primarily in St. Pete, he spends a significant amount of time in Jacksonville. I benefit from this little split because whenever my dad makes the drive from St. Pete to Jacksonville, he tries to stop by and say hi since Ocala is halfway between the two cities!
Today he happened to be driving through Ocala around lunchtime, so Ryan and I met up with him at Horse & Hounds, a local restaurant that we’ve visited a handful of times in the past and really enjoyed.
Please excuse my greasy hair.
According to numerous pins I’ve seen on Pinterest, people are sporting the lovely fishtail braid again these days and I hopped on the bandwagon before lunch today since it seemed like a great way to disguise my greasy locks.
A fishtail braid plus a sprinkle of baby powder. Foxy!
Lunch at Horse & Hounds
It was great to be able to sit down for about an hour with my two favorite guys and and dig into some delicious food!
I ordered the ahi tuna salad since ahi tuna seems to call my name whenever I see it on a menu.
My salad came with lots of tuna, shredded cheese, croutons, onion, cucumber, tomatoes and a fantastic ginger dressing on the side. It hit the spot and I left lunch feeling satisfied but not overly stuffed. Ryan also shared a few bites of his club sandwich with me and we both gave it rave reviews.
Right now my dad is in my kitchen on a conference call for work while I blog away. Sadie was awfully happy to see him when he came by our house after lunch and made sure to greet him with lots of squeals and body slams.
Sadie has my whole family wrapped around her finger, so you better believe my dad gave her all the belly rubs she wanted.
Time to sign off for the afternoon, say goodbye to my dad and write away!
P.S. The Fashion page was updated today with the details of today’s outfit. The picture is actually from a few weeks ago when I wore the same thing (and my hair wasn’t as greasy), but I never added the photo to the fashion page. No fishtail spottings over there just yet!

You have a look of your dad for sure, the same smile! Your sister looks more like your mum. Love spending time with my dad on his own as when it’s my mum dad and me the ladies dominate the conversation!

That Ahi tuna looks fantastic. Pairing it with Viognier would be nice. Even a little sauvignon blanc!
Cheers!

Every time from about October to June I read your blog I get hit with jealousy, it looks so nice and warm where you are. I love where I live, Vancouver, BC, but I could do with a little less rain and a little more sun thats for sure!

That’s so great that you get to see your dad more often! And of course Sadie has the family wrapped around her finger (paw?), she’s adorable! It’s the same with my brother’s dog, Molly, everyone is in love! My aunt and uncle haven’t met her and told my brother they wish he’d come home for Thanksgivig just so they can meet her!

I had no idea what you’re talking about with your greasy hair. It looks nice to me! My hair is too thin to do a fishtail braid, but yours looks lovely.
Natalie @ Free Range Human says
I propose you do a tutorial on how to do a fishtail. I think they’re beautiful, but I have no idea how to do them!

I just had to mention that you have an incredibly handsome father! He is better looking than any actor I can think of in his age range! No wonder you and your sister are blessed with such good looks.

I have been following your blog for forever and absolutely love it! I am an ex college soccer player, now a PE teacher and have gotten into the routine of working out in the morning before school. I was wondering if/what you eat/drink before you workout in the mornings? Sometimes I am perfectly fine with nothing and other times I find myself feeling hungry and with a lack of energy. Thanks so much!!

I have a Vizsla, Ob, and I get the biggest kick out of watching my mom interact with her. My mom never liked dogs, but she adores Ob and gives her just as much attention (if not more) than her actual grandchildren. It is hilarious. When I’m out of town, my mom watches her for me and they actually share a pillow. I think Vizslas have a way of wrapping everyone around their fingers. 😉

Your salad looks amazing! I’m too scared to try ahi tuna though…something about raw fish creeps me out!

love that top!
it’s great that you can meet up with your dad for lunch like that–my parents live about 3.5 hours away and I wish we were able to see each other more often!

Julie try dry shampoo for those types of days. Won’t leave the white residu of baby powder. Oscar bondi is one brand that’s pretty good.

Your hair definitely doesn’t look greasy, but have you ever tried Psssst (unknown amount of S’s)? It’s a dry shampoo that is really awesome. I use it when I don’t have time to wash my hair, and it makes my hair easier to work with.
