Million Miles a Minute

August 7, 2014 by Julie 59 Comments

Hiiii!

Do you ever have those days where you wake up and your mind is already running a million miles a minute? That is me today. And that’s not something that’s okay in Pure Barre. Losing my concentration in Pure Barre means I’ll find myself crunching one way while the whole class is going the other way or I’ll end up balancing on my left leg while the rest of the class in on their right.

About 15 minutes into the class, I told myself to focus and forget about all of my thoughts, but I felt like Ellen Degeneres (<— Please watch that video starting at 6:00. Hilarious!) because, as hard as I tried to concentrate, the most random thoughts started popping back up in my mind.

I’m pretty sure that by the end of class, I planned out exactly what I wanted to eat for breakfast, lunch and dinner today and designed my dream laundry room in my mind.

If the comments on my dream house blog post from last Thursday are any indication, a bunch of you guys are just as into house-talk as I am, so here are a few pictures I found on Pinterest that reflect some of the ideas I have for my dream laundry room. (Why I am dreaming of a nice laundry room, I’ll never know, but that’s where my head went this morning. Maybe because it’s small and seems somewhat manageable? I told you I am all over the place.)

(I cannot find the original source of the above image, so if you happen to know, please let me know so I can give proper credit!)

25 Dreamy Laundry Rooms (Source)

I’m not sure who I am kidding thinking my laundry room will look anything like those pictures, but a girl can dream. I love the idea of a laundry room with light sea foam-colored walls and white bead board. Something beautiful and airy!

Breakfast

And here’s the breakfast I dreamed about during Pure Barre:

almond butter oatmeal

It was nothing fancy, but I had a serious craving for almond butter and this hot bowl of oatmeal topped with a big spoonful of almond butter and a sprinkle of cinnamon did the trick.

Have a great Thursday, my friends!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I love laundry rooms! I just went to a design house event in Omaha and fell in love with the shelves in this laundry room.

SO cute and much cheaper than installing cabinets in your laundry room!

I know the feeling! I think that’s why I work so well with running, I can zone out and go into my own little world and plan 100 things that really don’t need planning. I had the same problem in pure barre, and I had to constantly remind myself to stay with the correct move instead of worrying about 10 other things. It’s also my big issue with tennis, I simply can’t get myself to focus that hard for an hour straight. I start thinking about what I might wear to a wedding that’s 3 months away and suddenly a ball is 2 inches from my face.

Those laundry rooms look nice! I think everyone needs a nice laundry room because doing laundry is so un-fun, it helps to have some pretty things to look at while you’re in there and make the whole process more pleasant. I totally get it! Good luck (eventually) creating the perfect one!

If you are dreaming of a laundry room, does that mean the plans for that house went well with the contractor yesterday?? I hope so! I have those times too, but usually going for a run totally helps me! The worst is when it’s at night and then I can’t fall asleep.

Those laundry rooms our beautiful. When we were house hunting I wanted a house with the laundry on the same floor as the bedrooms and we got it…best ever! I also love how all of these have the shelving on top of the washer/dryer however we ended up buying a top load washer (less likely to have leaks, bigger drum for more clothes, ect).

But I can’t stress how much I love the laundry on the same floor as our bedrooms..the only time I carry laundry is the one or two dish towels I wash that I need to bring back down stairs to the kitchen.

Don’t feel weird about daydreaming of the perfect laundry room, it’s a woman thing lol. I was so excited when we moved into a house that had an actual laundry room instead of a laundry hallway lol. Having it decorated makes it feel like a part of the rest of the house, rather than everything else looking nice and the laundry is the no-go zone for visitors.

Also, you are one of the bloggers than inspired me to start my own blog. I’ve followed you for about a year and finally got the nerve to start my own. Just wanted to thank you, it really helps me unwind and I stress less, which is pretty amazing.

I too daydreamed about redoing our laundry room when we moved into our house in June because it was the smallest room in the house. Two months later all that has been done in the laundry room is the white paint that we put up to cover the hideous salmon colored walls and we redid the floors. I can’t even decide on a paint color for the walls. BUT I have tackled all the large rooms in the house and those are done. Makes NO sense. And also, our house came with the front load washer and dryers. If I can give you any piece of advice do NOT get the front loaders. Both the washer AND the dryer (yes dryer) leak water on a regular basis and we use the proper laundry detergent. Also, I have struggled with mold issues in the washer since we moved in and we leave the door open in between washes. I am constantly cleaning it with a mixture of vinegar and baking powder and still the mold smell comes and goes. We are getting rid of them as soon as we can. Good luck with your house and I can’t wait to read all about it. And good luck with your laundry room!

When I tour new homes I’m always fantasizing and drooling over the laundry room as well. Don’t know why that is, but I think you touched on something about it seeming smaller and more manageable. We admire but turn away from a kitchen remodel, whereas a laundry room remodel seems doable and therefore imminent, amping up the excitement factor. (I go to the Parade of Homes tour in MN every year, which is why I’m touring so many homes! Gathering ideas…..)
