Moon River & Leopold’s Blogger Dinner & Dessert

November 6, 2011 by Julie 46 Comments

Last night, Ryan and I had the pleasure of meeting up with some blogger friends and their husbands for dinner in downtown Savannah.

Michelle organized the dinner several weeks ago and I was anxious to sit down, eat and catch up with some of my favorite bloggers and talk about everyone’s race experiences.

We met up at Moon River Brewing Company, a bustling restaurant and bar. I’d be willing to make a bet that the place was packed with runners from yesterday’s race. I saw a lot of medals!

Paula and Michelle ran their first marathon earlier that day and Tina completed her first half marathon!

(How cute are Tina and her husband? Such a genuinely nice couple!)

Meghann and Ben also ran the marathon (Ben set a personal record!) and Katy rocked the half!

Ryan and I ate a lot of food throughout the day , so I wasn’t extremely hungry when we sat down to dinner and opted for a salmon salad with goat cheese.

Though I wasn’t starving, I thought the salad would be a bit bigger and more substantial,  but the salmon was very good! Michelle’s husband also shared his onion rings with me which made me wish I would’ve just ordered a plate of onion rings for dinner.

The onion rings were the size of a hamburger bun and so, so good!

Dinner was spent talking about the race, Yanni (seriously), and other random topics. Such a fun group of people!

Once we were all finished eating, we walked a few blocks to Leopold’s for ice cream.

The place was adorable and had a lot of character. When I saw cinnamon and pumpkin pie ice cream available, I knew what I wanted! Ryan was in the mood for the same flavors, so we ordered the pumpkin pie sundae which came topped with nuts, caramel, whipped cream and nutmeg.

The ice cream flavors were spot-on and they were very generous with the toppings. Sundae success!

Time to hit the road back to Ocala. I’m trying my best to convince Ryan into making a few pit stops along the way at stores we no longer have easy access to in our small town.

See ya in Florida!

I just love Savannah and that brewery! Such great food! Supposedly that brewery is haunted. Did you feel the “presence”? 🙂

I’ve only just started getting in to running…I don’t even know if you could call it that, maybe jogging! I’m determined to run my first mini marathon next year…the Dublin women’s mini marathon is in June and it’s less than half at only 10K. I’m so excited already! Oh by the way…I HAVE to get my hands on pumpkin ice cream! Fat chance in Ireland so it ice cream making might have to be an activity next weekend!
