Nothing Accomplished

March 6, 2011 by Julie 70 Comments

Remember how I signed off my last blog post? How I said I had a bunch of things on my to-do list that I was going to get done?

Well, um, that didn’t happen… yet.

Rather than get a jump start on some chores, I opted to tag along to Ryan’s soccer game. Initially I planned on staying home because it was supposed to rain, but when the weather looked promising, Sadie and I went along to Red Bug Park to cheer on our favorite soccer player.

soccer 006

soccer 007

Though I tried my best to pay attention, I inevitably got a little bored and called my friend Leah to catch up. She entertained me through most of the game and I loved hearing about her wedding planning! I can’t wait to see her in Chicago in May for her bachelorette party. Woo!

Though my soccer fan skills are admittedly a little subpar, Sadie is a fantastic fan!

soccer 005

She didn’t miss a play! She was a good girl and sat on my lap most of the time. (Yes, she is 35 pounds and sat on my lap… Vizsla owners know that not sitting on your lap is not an option.)

Sadie sprung out of my lap a few times when Ryan ran close to the sidelines or when she heard him yell out to his teammates.

soccer 001

We spent about two hours at the park watching Ryan’s game (they won!) before heading home.

Ryan requested a pit stop at Jeremiah’s for some gelati. I’m not one to refuse ice cream, so off we went!

soccer 010

I ordered a peanut butter and vanilla gelati topped with a bit of chocolate soft serve while Ryan opted for his traditional cookies ‘n’ cream combo.

Even Sadie got in on the fun with a little pup cup filled with vanilla soft serve.

soccer 008

Happy dog!

Once we arrived home, I made us quesadillas before whipping up another batch of cookies for the bake sale winner. I ate too much dough from the first batch and didn’t want to send the winner like three cookies, so another batch was necessary.

soccer 014

Once again, more dough was consumed. I am feeling sugar-sluggish right now. Bleh. I think it’s time to actually start tackling those items on my to-do list this time.

Up first: Laundry! I need gym socks!

Question of the Afternoon

You know I’m not one to focus on the negative, but let’s make each other feel better by bragging about our inefficiency and procrastination…

What’s one thing you haven’t done today that you were planning on doing?

I’ll go first: Laundry, clean guest room, paint toe nails, clean kitchen. (See, that was four things. Don’t feel so bad!)

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I am right with you on the Sunday To Do List. I had plans to get all these things done and now 5pm has rolled around and I can’t believe how little i’ve gotten done! It looks like you made the most of your afternoon though watching the soccer game!

And those cookies look so tempting! I keep meaning to make this recipe, but now I know I have to!

I wanted to do a major dropoff at Goodwill to get bags out of the house … but that’ll wait until tomorrow night now. Looking at it positively, it’ll give me more time to pull a few more things, right? 🙂

Hey Julie! This is my first time commenting but I have been reading your blog for a couple of weeks and LOVE it:)
I wanted to get a nice run in today. It has been rainy all weekend and finally cleared up this afternoon. But this weather has made for a sluggish weekend. Sometimes we need those weekends though!
Looks like my run tomorrow will be a good one! 🙂

Oh girl. My unproductive day is going to make you feel SO much better. Things I have not done today that I intended to:

    1. Study for A&PII midterm that is occuring tomorrow at 8:30am
    2. Study for Stats midterm that is occuring tomorrow at 11am
    3. Write 7 thank-you cards
    4. Make all 10 of hubby’s and my meals for tomorrow
    5. Clean the FEMA-worthy disaster that is my living room

But hey. At least I got my relaxation in. =0)

I just finished a five day stretch of night shifts this morning at 0715 (I’m a med lab tech and work a stretch of nights every month…hospitals never close unfortunately!). I had planned on going to Costco this afternoon after a few hours sleep so I can turn back around to sleeping at night. However I am WAY too groggy and have been in my robe since I woke up at noon. Its now almost time for dinner and I wanted a proper dinner since I tend to live on soup and breakfast when I’m on nights but I’m too lazy to even cook anything! I think I’ll be having a frozen chicken teriyaki noodle bowl and call that supper! Costco tomorrow morning since I’ve got no veggies left except baby carrots and a good dinner tomorrow:)

Girl, you should TOTALLY not feel bad for actually *enjoying* your Sunday… it is the day of rest, after all! Seriously, I like to do my “chore-like” activities during the week just so I can be a total bum on the weekends. There’s nothing worse than having a huge list of chores to do when the weather is great outside… or when you just want to relax! 20-30 mins of chores while dinner is cookin’ up every weeknight prevents that, for me! And it makes me one happy girl on the weekends 🙂 Embrace it!

Studying for a neuroanatomy midterm tomorrow – I can’t handle it anymore! And here I thought going back to school was a good idea…

Instead, I’m doing all those things that I don’t NEED to do right now – laundry, cleaning kitchen, vacuuming…mostly because I’m scared to death for the exam tomorrow. Productive procrastination? Pretty much. Going to help me ace the exam? Not likely.

I think you were productive! You decided to relax and enjoy your day! You went to support your husband- which is up there in terms of important, and your friend. You had a fantastic day. There were no deadlines, nothing bad will happen if you don’t do your laundry for one more day… I think you should feel awesome that you got to spend such a great carefree day with those you love, and eating gelati and cookie dough! We are VERY lucky compared to so many people.
I just wrote an entire post on permissive procrastination. IT is so reviving and necessary! We all need a day of ‘nothingness’…
I on the other hand HAVE DONE NOTHING- and I have 3 exams, reviews, a book review due for history, Economics assignments and worst- a deferred History midterm due Friday. I am so stressed that I can’t study! NOT GOOD. I think I need a vacation or some gelati!
ps- you look gorgeous in that black halter (we are currently covered in snow!)
