Our Family is Growing!

April 15, 2020 by Julie 173 Comments

Our family is growing!

Chase and Ryder and Baby #3 Announcement

We are so thrilled to share that we are expecting a baby in the beginning of September! I am 19 weeks pregnant and my belly is getting harder and harder to hide!

18 weeks pregnant baby #3

This baby is one we hoped and prayed for and love so much already. To be completely transparent, after our third miscarriage, I began to worry about whether or not I could emotionally handle another pregnancy or loss despite such a strong desire in my heart to have more children. This pregnancy has come along with no shortage of anxiety but thankfully we had a wonderful appointment at maternal and fetal medicine last week and now, nearly halfway through my pregnancy, I’m beginning to let myself believe we will be having another child. It feels good to let myself dream of the moment Chase and Ryder meet their little brother or sister in a few months. Adding another child into our chaos feels exciting, intimidating and right.

As for how the boys are handling the special news, they are thrilled! Well, technically Ryder just says, “baby” over and over again and doesn’t really get it but around 15 or 16 weeks, Chase asked if there was a baby in my belly because it was already so noticeable. He’s now all in on brainstorming names for his little brother or sister. (His latest suggestion for a boy was Flipper… and Ryder which might get just a little confusing. For a girl, he’s suggested Gigi, Sparkle Pants and Runner “so she will be really fast.”)

chase ryder baby #3 announcement

I’ll share more about my first and second trimester (so far) in an upcoming post and am happy to answer any questions you may have about this little one, how things are going so far, our plans in the coming months, etc. Just let me know what you’d like to read about in a followup post and I’ll be happy to address everything soon.

Thank you guys so, so much for following my life and my family and giving us such an amazing outpouring of love and support over the years. I know so many of you have been reading since the early days when Sadie was our only baby and I am so grateful for your continued love and kindness. I cannot wait to introduce you to the littlest member of our family in a few short months!

***

I cannot ever share a pregnancy or baby-related post on this blog without thinking about those of you reading from a place of longing, loss or pain related to miscarriage, loss of an intensely loved little one or infertility right now. My mind and heart changed deeply after we lost three babies during pregnancy and I know that pregnancy announcements in particular can be just plain hard to read when you’re hurting. I hope and pray my news doesn’t cause you pain right now but if it does, I get it. The longing for a baby and the pain of loss is horrible and unfair and heartbreaking. I’m thinking of you and holding a space for you in my heart.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Julie this so wonderful! I know that you have desperately wanted more children and God has blessed you with another new life! I know that anxiety and worry is present, but God has you in His hands. He also holds this new little one. Commit your health and the baby’s health to Him. Easier said than done. Isaiah 41: 10, 14 help me when worry closes in. I am so happy for you and your family!

YAY YAY YAY! I have been a regular reader (and rare commenter) for years and just had my first baby in December – looking back at your old baby posts has been so helpful for nursery set-up, baby supplies, and general expectations for the first few months. Watching my little guy grow and start to discover the world around him is the most amazing experience ever, though, of course, you know that already! 🙂 I’m so excited for you to get to do it again! CONGRATULATIONS to you and your family!

YAY!!! Congratulations Julie!! I am so happy and excited for your family. I am due in June with my second. We found out the gender with our first (we have a boy) but are keeping this one a surprise. It is SO much fun! Are you planning on keeping baby #3 a surprise? I am looking forward to all your pregnancy posts and how you plan to prepare for baby #3, especially how you plan to prepare with Chase and Ryder. Continued prayers for you and that sweet baby!

Congratulations!! I am so happy for you! 3 weeks ago I went in for an ultrasound at 12wk 6d and found out our baby did not have a heartbeat- similar to your previous losses. After that I went back and read your previous blog posts about miscarriage and honestly it was comforting to read. So thank you. I did worry about you not being able to carry again after three losses so I am truly filled with JOY that you’re going to be welcoming another little one in September. It’s given me hope too ?.

I am so sorry you know the pain of miscarriage, Janelle. It’s awful and I hope you’re doing okay… though I’m sure there are moments when you’re not. At least that’s how it was for me for a long time. <3 Sending you so much love. And thank you for your kind words and encouragement!

Are you going to wait till time of delivery to find out the sex of the baby?

Also, your mirror pregnancy pic looks just like your ones when you were pregnant with Chase…you haven’t aged!!! (Can you tell Im a longtime reader?)

Congrats again to the whole fam! So thrilled for you and looking forward to reading about the pregnancy and “meeting” this baby in the Fall!!

Congrats!!! Oddly I felt like you might be expecting (pregnancy brain connection?). I am about 24 weeks pregnant with our first (baby boy! Due 8/6 ?) and being pregnant during this time is pretty crazy on its own. I can’t imagine adding previous miscarriage worry, but you are handling everything with grace and I’m so happy to hear that all is well. Any quick tips for a first time boy mom? ? So excited but a little daunted! I’ll have to read about your registry essentials as we’re putting ours together. Congrats again!!!

This is the best news! I’m so excited for your family! We just had our first in February and I consulted your pregnancy/nursery/registry posts all along the way. As a long time reader, I too, had a hunch that maybe you would be making this announcement soon – I think it was when you said you had been organizing closets! Can’t wait to see if you name this little one Flipper (which I believe is a unisex name!)

Congratulations Julie and the Fagan family!! I’m so happy for you! I had a feeling you might be pregnant from some of your recent posts and I’m so glad you are. Can’t wait to watch your family grow again via social media. Are you going to find out the gender this time or have it be a surprise? I’d love to hear about what you plan to do with the boys when the new baby arrives in terms of rooms. Will each child/baby have their own room or will you move the boys together? I’d also love to hear your thoughts later on about transitioning to a family of three and how that’s different from two because we have two right now.
Wishing you all the best with this pregnancy and baby and keeping you and your family in my prayers!

Congratulations! I am so happy for you and your family! I have been a longtime reader. I read about your miscarriages and felt terrible you were going through it but can honestly say I didn’t truly understand just how painful and hard it is. I had a miscarriage back in October after having 2 daughters with zero complications. To say I was devastated and shocked is an understatement. I read your posts after and they brought me so much hope and helped me feel not so alone. Thank you so much for sharing your journey. It has truly helped me.

    Oh Julie!

I’ve been following you since you and Ryan JUST got married I think. I was looking for a cauliflower crust recipe for pizza (ummmmmmmmm a rare thing back in the day …. Cauliflower wha?????). I think Google thought I was crazy but there you were with your blog writing about a night in with Ryan attempting Cauliflower crust pizza.

Anyways …. In that time I’ve had two kiddos and so have you! I feel like we would be fast friends but I’m in MN and you seem to be hopping your way through the East Coast and Orlando … so I guess this online friendship will have to do,

I screeched when I read this! It’s like as if a good friend just told me this news. I AM SO thrilled for you all. You are going to be a wonderful mother to three. Again ….. in taking the risk of sounding stalky I was like “Hey! I’ll bet Mae was just so happy too!” So yeah …. tell you Mom that sometimes in my head she’s my Mae too. Haha.

    Much love to you all!
If you want to make sure I’m just another Momma in the thick of things and just love your blog feel free to Instagram me at karakane1. I promise it won’t be a picture of anything but a Momma who loves following your AWESOME family.
