Polar Loop Review
Having a goal motivates me. It doesn’t have to be a big, lofty goal. Small goals add up to some pretty amazing accomplishments, right?
When I received the opportunity to try out the Polar Loop, an activity tracker that notices every jump, step and run, I was very intrigued and immediately agreed! I had a feeling it would motivate me to move more throughout the day and I was absolutely right. That is my favorite thing about the Polar Loop: It’s motivating!
I see so many people at my gym wearing fitness trackers and I’ve heard more than a few of my clients rave about them, so I couldn’t wait to set up my Loop and get moving when it arrived in the mail.
Set Up + Battery Life
A little tip: When fitting the Polar Loop to your wrist, check out the instructional How To video online.
Though directions are included, I found it much easier to watch someone go through the steps of fitting the Polar Loop to their wrist than figuring it out with the illustrations.
Once I had the Polar Loop fit to my wrist, I charged it using the USB cord that came with the Loop and set up an account on Polar.com. An important side note: The Polar Loop has great battery life and charges quickly! I figured I would need to charge it at the end of each day, but it lasts several day without needing a charge.
When I created an account on the Polar Loop site, I loved checking out the map of the world to see what people around me were doing! I zoomed in on Florida and enjoyed looking at the activities my fellow Floridians were completing.
You can also set your profile to private (which is what I did) if you’d like so no one can see what you’re doing and you can be oh-so-sneaky. Or, you can allow only certain people to see your profile by adding them as “followers” which I think is a great way to sync up with friends and family members to motivate each other to move more throughout the day.
Once the Polar Loop is set up, you can press the button on the front of the tracker to view the LED display that flips between showing you the time of day, calories burned, total steps and your daily activity goal.
Polar Flow App + Inactivity Alerts
The Polar Loop can also connect to the Polar Flow (free) app and give you real-time updates about your movement and activity levels for the day.
Here’s an example of the breakdown:
One thing I really liked about the Loop was the inactivity alerts! If you’ve been sitting for too long, an alert will let you know and that was a big motivator for me to get off my butt and walk around or move even if it was for only five minutes or so.
Adding Your Heart Rate Into The Equation
The Polar Loop does not come with a heart rate monitor so this is an added cost if you want it, but it’s a great way to get accurate data about your overall calories burned and how hard you are working at certain times during the day. The Polar Loop retails for $109.95 and the heart rate monitor is an additional fee, but even without the heart rate monitor the Loop can tell the difference between activities like sleeping, walking, running and more. It’s also safe to use in the pool!
What Trends Did I Notice?
Some days it was really easy for me to hit my activity goals. On Saturdays, Ryan and I often work out and then take Sadie for a long hike after breakfast, so meeting my activity goals on Saturdays is rather easy. (And if I incorporate running into my workouts, it’s much easier to hit my goals!) On other days when I am working from home or even days when I am personal training, it’s a little harder because I am often sitting or standing around and only walking from one place in the gym to the next.
Since my hometown is not very walkable, the best way I found for me to hit my activity goals was to increase the distance of Sadie’s walks!
So, I think it’s safe to say Sadie is the Polar Loop’s number one fan.
On days when I might be more inclined to play fetch with Sadie in the backyard, if I was under my goals on the Loop, I’d leash her up for a walk instead so she wasn’t the only one getting exercise.

I will randomly select a winner on Friday.
Good luck!
Definitely the inactivity alert! I have a desk job and would love a reminder to get up and take a loop around the floor or walk up and down a flight of stairs!
I love that it pairs up with a heart rate monitor! I think that will make it more accurate when calculating information during workouts and I don’t know any other health tracker that does that!
I think the inactivity alerts would be great! I don’t realize how much I probably sit when I’m at home, especially in the evenings. Plus knowing how many cals I burn overall would definitely help me with my calorie intake too. Such a neat device!
I’m intrigued by the overall activity tracker for the day – I work out every day but also have a desk job, so it would be interesting to see if I’m really as active as I think or if they balance each other out!
Because of my office job, the inactivity alerts would be incredibly useful for me!
I think the inactivity alert is the most exciting part of Polar Loop. We often do not realize how immobile we are until we have something reminding us to get up and more around.
OMG! i need this so badly– I have been looking at Fitbit and other brands similar to this. I am working on increasing my active minutes but don’t really have a way to track it. I love the feature that tells you about being inactive– while sitting, working, or studying it will remind me to get up to do a dance party or something for a few minutes and also works well as a study break! I’m also super interested in the sleep tracker– i always wonder how much restful sleep i get. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to have this and hope to start tracking my activity on a more real level soon! PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE!
I love the idea that it tells you when you have been inactive for too long!! With my desk job, I really need that reminder to get up!!
I think the inactivity alert is a great idea I sit at a desk most of the day so it would be nice to have that reminder to get up and moving.
I want to see my inactivity alerts and sleep activity. As a college student I spend too much time sitting in the library and get too little sleep so I want to start changing that!
I would be most interested to see the activity tracked! As a medical student I rotate through different fields and it would be fun to see which ones are the most active!!
I too have a desk job and especially during this horrid iowa winter it would be nice to have a push to get up and move more!
Everything sounds awesome! I am interested in sleep (SO important!) and activity data both! The inactivity alert would be helpful too, as I am often writing reports at my desk and may forget to get up and walk around. Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
I just switched from taking public transit to driving to work, and I’ve lost a good amount of walking in the process. I’d like to something to help hold me accountable for those extra steps.
The sleep data would be so interesting! Sleep is definitely an area of health I’d like to improve, so it would be awesome to be able to track it!
Inactivity because I have a desk job but I try to get up and move often!! Also Sleep data!! Intriguing!
i love it has inactivity alerts! i have a desk job, so it would definitely be helpful!
I would love the feature that gives a warning when you’ve been inactive for too long. I work behind a desk and its easy to lose track of time and sit for nearly the entire 8 hour work day.
I sit at a desk behind a computer all day, so having an inactivity feature would give me a kick in the pants to go take to the stairs for a few minutes.
The inactivity alert is was is most attractive to me. I have an office job, and probably sit WAY more than I should!
I’m really excited about those inactivity alerts!
The inactivity alert looks interesting! I’d also love to be able to see the amount of activity I get on any certain day and look for trends.
Working a desk job isn’t always the greatest — I’d love the inactivity alert, just to make sure I get up every once and awhile to keep my blood flowing!
I would be most intrigued to see my overall activity level. I workout very consistently, but I don’t have a very active job so this would motivate me to move more through out the day if needed.
I would be pretty pumped for the inactivity alerts! I also love that the Polar Loop is H20 friendly!
I literally have no idea how many calories I burn throughout day other than when using my gps watch while running so I’d love to see that!
The inactivity alerts! I have a desk job so this would remind me to ‘get up’ more frequently!!
I love this! I already have a Polar Heart Rate Monitor, so I would love to have this to sync up for a more cohesive picture of my daily activity, and not just workouts!
I think the inactivity alerts are a genius idea!
I love the idea of tracking total activity throughout the day! I will be starting a job in a hospital soon and think it would be great to set goals to increase my distance walked while working!
I had a roommate who swore by her pedometer, but I feel like this would be a far more accurate way to meet activity goals.
I’d love to get an inactivity alert. I have a desk job, and it would be good to have a reminder to MOVE. I also want a heart rate monitor.
I have no idea how much energy I’m really burning throughout the day! I would be interested to find out 🙂
I really like the App you described and showed!! I think it’s great that the company figured out a way to actually make sense of the data! So many activity trackers show you the date but don’t lay it out so easily that a regular person can understand and form the looks of it, the app provides data any one can understand making so that anyone who wears it can really make the most out of it!
Since I sit at a desk for most of the day, I would like to use the inactivity tracker the most. It would give me an excuse to get up and take a walk around the building!
I work 12 hour shifts as an emergency dispatcher. I would love to see my activity level on work days. I do a rotating schedule (some days/some nights) and I have an hour long commute each way. I try working exercise in but it doesn’t always happen. I am hoping to gauge my active/inactive periods better and hopefully make it more active 🙂
I love the idea of the alerts when you’ve been inactive. I can sit for long periods of time at work and would love those reminders!
I would be most interested in the inactivity alerts! Also the sleep data would be great, I feel like I can never get enough sleep
I am always looking for ways to stay active and having something to keep track of acitivity would be wonderful. I too love walking my four legged friend and in hopes the weather gets nice here in the Black Hills I am looking forward to being outside more.
I would love to have this to track how many steps I am doing each day!!! I sit at a desk each day for work and getting activity in is difficult!! Love the inactivity alert too! Will help me get up if I have been sitting down too long:)
I think it’s a tie between the sleep tracker and the inactivity alert…both are very useful!!
I would love to try a device that tracks my sleeping and fitness all in one spot. Right now I use a different app/device for each of these, so this would be awesome to try!
I have a dreaded desk job…where i sit for 9 hours/day on average. i would love to have one to remind me to get up and move every so often. I am active before/after work but the majority of my day is sitting down, and that kiiiillllsssss me.
I would be really interested in seeing my sleeping stats! As well as my activity levels when at work/not at work.
I am really interested in sleep data!
I would love to track my sleep data!
The inactivity alert sounds awesome! I have a young baby, so I tend to stay in one place for too long with her!
Wow this watch looks AMAZING!! I’m most interested in the inactivity alerts because, as a college student, I know that I even though I have no choice but to sit on my butt in class for a few hours every day, I could do a lot less sitting throughout the rest of the day when I’m studying or I have free time. This would be really helpful for me to have!
i think it’d be interesting to see how my sleep pattern is.
I have been wanting to buy one of these to track my daily calorie burn. I use a polar ft80 hrm for training but would love one these to track my daily activity and calorie burn.
