Pretty Peppers + Giveaway

October 5, 2010 by Julie 483 Comments

How pretty are orange peppers?

Orange Peppa

I would say I don’t know why they don’t get more attention… but I do. It’s because they’re more than a dollar more per pound than green peppers! Blasphemy!

Still, sometimes the pretty peppers are worth the extra dough. I guess sometimes you just want to enjoy something bright orange in the middle of October!

Along with a sliced orange pepper, my lunch included a honey mustard chicken salad wrap.

Tuesday Lunch

I made the chicken salad by combining honey mustard with a sliced chicken breast. I placed the chicken on a bed of broccoli slaw before rollin’ it up and chowing down.

Chicken Close Up

Good lunch!

Mighty Leaf Tea Giveaway

I know it may sound silly, but something about this cooler weather makes me feel warm inside.

Maybe it’s because I know the days of sweating five seconds after you step out the door are (mostly) gone, or maybe it’s because I know that with cooler weather comes the holiday season.  Whatever it is, I’m loving the comfy, cozy feeling of fall.

Along with big sweaters and fuzzy boots, a hot mug of tea enjoyed this time of year takes me to a place of warmth and comfort. When I was contacted by Mighty Leaf to try a sample of the company’s fall teas, I was more than game.

I was already a fan of the company’s chocolate mint truffle tea (I bought it at Whole Foods and blogged about it last October), so I was excited to try new flavors.

The first one up to bat? Vanilla bean!

Mighty Leaf Vanilla Bean

The Deets

I enjoyed a hot mug of this tea with my lunch today and it was tasty and warmed my insides right up!

Pretty Sachet

Now it’s your turn to try!

Mighty Leaf is offering one reader the following items:

  • 1 box Bombay Chai
  • 1 box Rainforest Mate
  • 1 Box Chocolate Mint Truffle
  • 1 Box Matcha Green Tea
  • 1 Tea Top Brew Mug (pictured below) or 1 Mighty Leaf Ceramic Mug

Tea Top Brew Mug

To enter this giveaway, simply comment on this post by telling me your favorite kind of tea.

I will randomly select and announce a winner tomorrow afternoon.

Good luck! 😀

Orange peppers are totally my favorite!

My favorite tea, hands down, is chai. There’s just something about all of those spices.

At my school we have a Plaza of the Americas and today it was just so gorgeous outside for an October day in Florida that I sat in the Plaza for 3 hours just soaking up the sun, reading and enjoying a steaming (at one point) mug of blueberry green tea (my favorite!).

Mmmmm I love a warm cup of tea on a cool day. It’s especially soothing when I get home from a long day of school. Something about tea makes it so calming and always makes me relaxed and in a good state of mind. My favorite tea is a new tea I recently found in my local supermarket. It is called “Pumpkin Spice” and is made by Stash teas (www.stashtea.com). It is described as “naturally decaffeinated black tea [with] nutmeg, cinnamon, ginger, natural pumpkin spice flavor, and clove”. It is SO GOOD and has all the flavors of fall that I love so much. And it has a wonderful aroma! 😀

I love tea in general, so it’s difficult to choose one! It would probably have to be spearmint tea. Minty but kind of creamy? I’m not sure how to describe it! Others that are up there are: cinnamon tea and chamomile tea.

Another poster mentioned using tea leaves to brew coffee and it reminded me of how my dad drinks his coffee. He boils the water and adds a small stick of cinnamon and then mixes in the coffee. It smells and tastes delicious with the cinnamon. That’s also how my family in Mexico (Oaxaxa) make their coffee.
