Seaweed Snacks

March 22, 2011 by Julie 71 Comments

When I got off work this evening, a super-fun activity awaited me.

Laundry! Please note that nearly all of my laundry consists of gym shorts, sports bras and workout tops. I mean who needs to wash work clothes? Winking smile

I’ve been making a bigger effort to do small loads of laundry more often rather than save a ton of it to do once a month. So far it’s working quite well!

As I folded laundry, I snacked on one of my latest favorite foodie finds.

Annie Chun’s seaweed snacks. I first tried these when I found them in my parents’ pantry back in January. Ever since then, I’ve been obsessed!

I know these snacks likely gross a bunch of you out, but if you like sushi, you should give them a try!

Sadie loves ‘em.

I love watching her eat them because they get stuck on the roof of her mouth and she maneuvers her tongue in the most awkward way to get them off. Muhaha!

Dinner

I think the seaweed snacks triggered a craving for Asian fare, because when I headed into the kitchen to make dinner after a quick walk with Ryan and Sadie, an Asian sesame shrimp salad sounded perfect.

I made his and hers entrée salads that included:

  • Romaine lettuce
  • Cucumber
  • Red pepper
  • Sugar snap peas
  • Shrimp
  • Kraft Asian sesame dressing

One the side Ryan and I each enjoyed half of a honey wheat sandwich thin topped with peanut butter, banana slices, honey and pumpkin pie spice.

Bueno!

Time to prep tomorrow’s lunch.

See ya bright and early in the morning!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I love roasted seaweed! In high school, my family hosted foreign exchange students and one of them was from Korea. I now love Asian food and my friends from college from Korea tease me that I am sometimes more Korean then them in what I eat 🙂 I have never had roasted seaweed by itself. I always have eaten it with rice and some sort of spicy dish.

SO….seaweed snacks–is that just baked nori paper?

We did laundry this weekend. I think we had roughly 30 pounds. You know it’s bad when you have to start buying new unmentionables because every single pair you own is in the hamper. Sad, but true story.

Call me gross, but I don’t wash work pants every time I wear them, I wash them every 2 or 3 wears. I don’t sweat in them or anything and not washing them helps them last longer and not stretch out as much.

I’ve tried the seaweed snacks before, I just can’t make myself like them. At least I tried 🙂

It’s so funny seeing you and Gina calling them “seaweed snacks”! Since I am Korean I eat seaweed all the time. It’s good on its own but I usually eat it as a small meal with rice, sometimes with a little lunch meat inside to balance it out.

I bet you can get it way cheaper (than say the regular grocery store) if you went to an Asian market.

But did you know those are actually the precut kind? You can buy it even cheaper in sheets. We cut a whole pack ourselves and put them in a container on the counter. ENDLESS MUNCHING!

I’m with you 100% on the seaweed snacks (they taste good with peanut butter by the way..or like peanut butter microwaved with soy sauce as a dip)
I have written numerous posts about them and have created my own…
I get mine from my local Korean store and you save 100%.
One of those snacks from Whole Foods runs about $1.50 or something and I can get 14 packs for $3.

I buy 2 100sheet packs of full size Nori Seaweed sheets a week, and fold them up (the sheet) into 4s, and dip them into salsa like chips. It’s a bad bad addiction. I also eat them with every dinner and tear them up into 6pieces per sheet, and use them a mini wraps for every bit of my dinner. SO yummy!

Those seaweed snacks are excellent! I’m living over in South Korea and often you’ll find them at bars with a side dish of soya sauce to snack on with a beer. I love that its catching on over in North America! Next will be kimchi… you should give that one a shot.
