After a lazy morning, today shaped into a productive day!
I spent the morning crafting…
Unfortunately I cannot reveal my projects on zee blog because it’s not a craft for me. Shh, it’s a surprise!
Workout
After my first craft project was done, around 11 a.m. Ryan and I headed to the gym for a workout. Both of us weren’t really feelin’ it and basically just went through the motions. I left feeling glad that I worked out, but not very challenged. Eh, it happens.
My workout started with 10 minutes on the elliptical before I completed a total-body strength workout that included three sets of 15 reps of the following exercises:
- Deadlifts
- Ryan’s awesome shoulder move
- Bicep curls
- Tricep extensions on the TRX
- Leg extensions
- Hamstring curls
- Shoulder raises
- Tricep extensions
Once we were done, we headed home and I cut Ryan’s hair in the backyard before making lunch.
Lunch
Lunch was all over the place today. I ate a whole wheat tortilla, four pickles and a cup of Greek yogurt before deciding I should eat a real meal. Since the blender was out from this morning, I blended up a quick smoothie bowl before showering and heading out to run some errands.
Errands
My errands for the day took me to Park Avenue.
I had some shopping to do at Williams-Sonoma and wanted to pick up a gift from my friend’s wedding registry for her bridal shower next weekend.
Being there reminded me of registering for our wedding! Ah, the good ol’ days…
I had plans to put together a cute gift basket with some of the items on my friend’s registry, but the items I wanted weren’t in stock! I was super bummed.
I eased my irritation by heading over to Peterbrooke Chocolatier for a little pick-me-up.
Their chocolate-covered butter popcorn rocks my socks. It is so good and they always have a big bin of free samples on hand. It never fails to lure me into the store.
While there, I picked up a special treat for my Oreo-lovin’ husband in the form of white chocolate covered Oreos. They aren’t quite as festive as these Oreos, but Ryan loves ‘em!
With a little popcorn in my belly, I meandered down Park Avenue and into some shops. I had a gift card to Gap, so I stopped in the store and tried on a cute tank top, a pair of jeans and a couple of dresses.
Unfortunately the Gap dresses I tried on failed the pear-shaped body test in that they were baggy up top but too butt-huggin’ on the bottom.
Not a fan. You can’t really tell in the above picture, but when I took one step in the dress,it was hip-city.
The jeans I tried on were really thin and stretchy and felt like yoga pants. Super comfy. When I saw the $34.99 sale price, I was sold.
Woop woop for cheap jeans and a gift card… so double woop woop for FREE jeans!
Once I was done with my personal shopping, I walked to Tuni, an upscale boutique on Park Avenue where my friend Merri was working her final day at the shop. I spent a good hour chatting away with her, trying to soak up the last bit of time I have with her until she’s off to NYC on Monday.
Fro Yo on the Go
I had another craft project looming over my head, so a little after 3 p.m. I said goodbye to Merri before hittin’ up two craft stores.
To fuel my shopping, I picked up a cup of fro yo!
My mix included cake batter, chocolate and taro frozen yogurt topped with lots of indulgent goodies like cookie dough, brownie bits, honey granola and hot fudge. Oh and blueberries for somethin’ healthy.
It was fantastic.
Now I’m home with Ryan and Sadie and we just saw that there’s a Harry Potter movie marathon on t.v. tonight. HP, coupled with my crafts, sounds like a fantastic Saturday night to me!
Enjoy your night!
P.S. The Fashion page was updated tonight!
Kendall (On An Inhale) says
I’m pear shaped too and on the tall side 5’7! Dresses for work are always a little to high and I have to buy jeans that fit my booty but are too big on the waist. I feel your pain! but i wouldnt change it for the alternative! I’m working on updating our scrapbook that my bf actually took care of for years. Hope you have a good Sat. night & Sunday!
Courtney @ The Granola Chronicles says
I love that I’m not the only wife who cuts her husband’s hair! 🙂
Enjoy Harry Potter – sounds like a perfect evening to me!
Carrie says
UM BEST HAIR EVER AWARD GOES TO YOU
ps.. i think that dress looks amazing on you!!! ur figure is gorgeous! and so is that froyo– mmmmmm!
Alaina says
Chocolate covered popcorn is the best!
Sounds like a wonderful evening to me! 🙂
Laura says
I’m so jealous your gym has a TRX! My boyfriend is a personal trainer and I’ve used the one at his gym before but unfortunately my gym doesn’t have one. They are amazing, the body weight resistance gives you such a good workout!
janet says
Please tell me you didn’t eat that fro-yo while driving … Toooooo dangerous to steer and snack!
You are a TINY little woman … Not “exactly” a pear … Think hourglass!
(I am 3 sizes larger in hips than top…it’s a nightmare.)
Happy crafting!
peanutbutterfingers says
i have a four-size difference!
Alisa @ Running with Knives says
I’m skipping dinner and making chocolate popcorn instead. Or I’ll rush through a small dinner to make the chocolate popcorn even more indulgent. Either way, now I have to make chocolate popcorn!
janet says
Being a pear should also mean that it’s easier to give birth vaginally as the pelvis is bigger…
peanutbutterfingers says
Haha I’ve always said I have “childbearing hips.”
SquatLikeALady says
My hat goes off to you for braving the craft stores on a Saturday! They are always CRAZY busy.
Jordan says
that popcorn reminds me of “chicago mix” popcorn -cheese popcorn mixed with caramel corn. the salty sweet combo is sooo good!
Katherine says
I love TRX! Last summer I did 9 weeks of classes with three days a week on the straps. I loved how it was very sculpting, I wasn’t seeing a lot of results until I started that program! Your workouts seem great I can’t wait to try some of the treadmill exercises.
Tori (Fresh Fruition) says
Haha I love all the indulgent toppings… then blueberries. That made me crack up 🙂 That froyo looks divine, though! As does that chocolate-y smoothie bowl!
Kelley says
Ugh. You made me want fro yo. Bad!
Heather (Heather's Dish) says
that GAP dress is a STUNNING color on you! speaking of, i need to get out and find some cute summer dresses… 🙂
Melanie @ Trial By Trail says
You talk about being a pear but from your pictures you just look tiny all over! 🙂
Emma @ La Vie en Ginger says
These comments are funny. I feel ya, Julie…pear is a shape, not a size. I’ve had SO many dresses fit just like the one pictured above and trust me, y’all, it is not a winning combination.
HOWEVER, I agree that red is stunning on you.
Annette @ EnjoyYourHealthyLife says
new jeans and fro yo sounds like my kind of perfect day as well! 🙂
Khushboo says
Something tells me my workout is going to be similar today- going through the motions without mentally being there. What’s taro fro yo like? I’m intrigued!
Sonia says
You have MAD forhead wrinkles and you’re so young. Wonder how you will look when you’re older.
peanutbutterfingers says
I’m raising my eyebrows… but thanks. Aren’t you a sweetheart!
Jamie says
Yeah…i’d like to see someone whose forehead does not wrinkle with her eyebrows raised. LOL like really?
Sonia says
i dont
Shell says
Wow, Sonia, that was a pretty rude comment. You should be careful though…being rude instantly ages you. Good luck!
Julia says
I want to go shopping tooooo! Luckily, I’ve already covered the froyo with delicious toppings aspect this weekend 😉
Lindsay Loves Veggies says
I hardly ever have much luck at the Gap anymore. Every once in a while I’ll find a shirt that’s way on sale, so I’ll grab it, but all the stuff that looks really cute on the rack always ends up fitting funny. (Feeling the hip pull thing!) New jeans is always the greatest though! 🙂
Gen says
That fro-yo cut is just unreal hum!
Well, I think all the dresses suit you, you could wear anything, they always look great on you!
Jamie says
My boyfriend begs me to cut his hair constantly! Do all men avoid getting actual hair cuts? So funny.
Emily @ Perfection Isn't Happy says
That fro yo looks so good! The closest fro yo place is at least 30 minutes away from my house. Every time I read bloggers talking about fro yo, it makes me want to open my own fro yo shop!
rebecca says
omg, that froyo sounds amazinggggg!! I love crafting!! 🙂 will we ever get to see what you made? xox
Amber K says
I think there are dress problems for all of us! I’m an apple and my problem is always trying to find clothes that fit my waist that aren’t HUGE in the legs. Frustrating!
But a good sale is always awesome.
Becca@ Start Over From Scratch says
I was an intern at Tuni’s in high school and worked there for summers and holidays for 3 years after that! Haven’t been back in years! I loved walking around the park ave area on my breaks! So pretty!
Allison @ The Delicious Life says
Your froyo looks so good!! So does a day of crafting. Wish my day was as fun as yours!
Amy says
My mom cuts my dad’s hair for him. Love it that she’s not the only one that does this.
Sounds like you had an awesome Saturday girl. Will you be sharing the secret crafts on your blog after they’re not a secret any more?
Alyssa @ Life of bLyss says
I’m oh-so jealous of how goshdarn productive you are! I need to start getting up early on weekends. 😉
Becki says
Here we are, four months later, did you ever reveal to us what you made? If so, I missed it!
Kelly says
Reading back through your old posts and here I find Peterbrooke’s infamous chocolate covered popcorn – my all time favorite product from my favorite Chocolatier that doesn’t exist in North Carolina 🙁 I always pick up a bag when I head home to Jax.
