She’s Back!

July 27, 2011 by Julie 100 Comments

Guess who is back in my arms!?

snack plate 005

Sadie girl!!!

Around 11 a.m. I left Ocala and drove the two hours to my parents’ house in St. Pete to see the pup!

She gave me quite the welcome. Whimpering, running around in circles and a sprinkle of pee were involved. Sadie only pees from excitement on very rare occasions or when she sees a small handful of people that she really loves, so I took her little squirt as a compliment. Or, you know, I missed her too much to care about a little doggie pee.

I’m now blogging with a 35 pound dog sprawled across my lap and everything feels right again. Smile

Lunch

Lunch today was really random. Whenever I come to my parents’ house I feel like I’m on sensory overload because of all the delicious food options, so I decided to go with my cravings and fix myself a snack plate of goodies.

snack plate 002

My plate included pretzel crisps with almond butter for dipping, cilantro lime shrimp and a cup of fresh blueberries.

And then I ate about a million pecans that I picked out of a big jar of mixed nuts. Nut overload! (TWSS.)

I hope no one else in my family shares my affinity for pecans because they may have a little bit of a problem finding any in that jar if they go digging.

As I was sitting down to lunch at the kitchen counter, I saw a cute mini card that I assumed my mom gave to my sister or dad.

So sweet, right?

Well, when I flipped it over to read the message on the back, this was staring back at me:

What is that!?!?

My dad always gets so mad at me for picking out all the good nuts. I got for pecans/walnuts first, then macadamias, then brazil, then cashews, then almonds and then peanuts. Totally not OCD or anything…

I’ve been reading your blog for a long time now, but I’ve never commented. I love it!!! I’m glad you are back with Sadie. I too never can decide what to eat when I go home. It’s like I’m too excited and want everything. My parents always have tons of food. I always eat a ton when I go home. It’s two hr drive for me too. Althoug I eat a ton, it’s ok cause I want to enjoy being home sweet home. 🙂 Anyways, you are beautiful, so blessed, and have an awesome blog.

Sadie is so cute! When my dog was a puppy he used to pee in excitment when we got home, but he doesn’t anymore. There are only a few select people that he does it for now and we call it his “happy tinkle!” :-p

You have a gut microbial community that you absolutely need. It has thousands of members and makes up 3-4lbs of your weight. Your community composition is determined by the age of 2 and is pretty much set for life (you can try and tweak it on a short term bases by adding things in your diet, etc. but those ‘new’ members will never shack up long term). It is critical in helping you stay healthy and keep things like cancer away and can even influence wether you are over or under weight!

Although mucus is a gross word…

Also, sorry if this comment grossed you out. I think it’s really interesting and it plays a huge role in your health.

I know being away from a pup is hard. I just had surgery and my pups were staying with my parents. I was going through serious withdrawal. So the day after surgery, my mom brought me one pup, then the next one came home two days later. And the third came home the same night as pup two. I just couldn’t be away from them anymore. Problem is they have to be walked, we have no yard. So I have been taking them one at a time. Kinda sucks but it gets the job done and I have them with me. Just love seeing pics of your baby girl (all 35 pounds of her). : )
