Sister Time

November 17, 2014 by Julie 64 Comments

Spending time with my sister this weekend was perfect… but it also reminded me just how much I miss seeing her all the time! Leslie’s work brought her to Charlotte late last week, so we planned to extend her stay a little bit so I could show her around our new hometown and we could enjoy some quality time together.

Our first full day together kicked off on Friday morning with a brunch date at our favorite breakfast hotspot in Davidson.

Davidson North Carolina

(For the Instagram inquiries: I got my jacket a few years ago from Off 5th *the brand is 5/48* and I couldn’t find it online anymore, but this one and this one look similar! My sweater, scarf and Tart Kacia beanie are from Stitch Fix, and my Marc Jacobs purse was a Christmas present from Ryan last year. Leslie’s jacket is INC from Macy’s and her earrings are from Francesca’s.)

We ate at Toast and Ryan was able to join us on an early lunch break from work. He actually headed to Raleigh after work on Friday for a surprise birthday party for one of his childhood friends, so he was happy to have the chance squeeze in a little quality time with Leslie at brunch, too! After we were done eating omelets and sipping hot coffee, Leslie and I walked around Davidson and I took her in some of my favorite little shops, including the one where I bought my beloved pig painting.

They always have the cutest stuff!

Leslie and I had such a great time running around town and eventually came up with a game plan to finish up a craft project she was working on before grabbing dinner. But first, a furry little lady needed some attention!

We bundled up and took Sadie on a three-mile walk at a local park.

Leslie and Sadie

Leslie could not get over the changing leaves and I couldn’t help but feel grateful she was able to visit during this beautiful time of year.

Sadie wasn’t nearly as into the gorgeous scenery as we were because there were sticks everywhere! She was awfully excited when she stumbled upon a gigantic stick that we used to play a few rounds of fetch with her on a sandy beach by the lake.

After our walk, we came home and changed before heading out for a delicious sushi dinner at Eez.

Eez Sushi

It was tasty but a bit pricy, so we decided to grab a pint of ice cream on the way home rather than order dessert at the restaurant. (I told Leslie she had to try my favorite Can’t Tell Me No Cookie Dough ice cream and she said it was the best cookie dough ice cream she’s ever had. It’s so good!) The minute we walked in the door, we changed into our pajamas and curled up on the couch with our ice cream to watch a movie. It was an ideal Friday night in my eyes!

Now I’m heading out to teach a barbell strength class, but I’ll check back in with you guys later this afternoon. I hope you had a fantastic weekend!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I love that you and your sister are so close!! I’m like that with my brother but, unfortunately, his job in the navy means he likes about 15 hours away! I’m excited to see him at Christmas!

The fall season looks gorgeous there! We already have snow here! Lots of it!

She’s such a Velcro dog! Whenever we put her down after we’ve been holding her, she just paws at us and wants us to pick her up again. It’s ridiculous!

I’m so jealous you still have such gorgeous leaves. We had a lovely couple of weeks of fall here in MI, but now all the trees are bare already and our highs this week aren’t going to reach 30 degrees! I already have to put a sweatshirt and a winter coat on my beagle to go outside!

So glad you cute gals had a fun time together! Sister time is always so fun. And wow – it sure does look beautiful around there! I just love all the beautiful fall colors. I’m intrigued by your barbell strength class you’re teaching, Is it somewhat similar to BodyPump?

yes, but we do use free weights, too! i am in charge of the formatting and try to make it somewhat similar to bodypump in that we spend one song on each muscle group — but sometimes it’s with the barbell, dumbbells and bodyweight exercises. 🙂

If you like ice cream more than other desserts, you have to get some Jeni’s! It’s simple ingredients, and amazing flavors! If i have a pint of it at home, I’m definitely choosing that over a restaurant dessert!
