St. Patrick’s Day Feast

March 17, 2011 by Julie 41 Comments

Remember how wonderful my willpower was for resisting those sweet treats this afternoon? Well, don’t be too proud of me. The minute I walked in the door to our apartment after work, I popped myself a huge bag of buttery popcorn and demolished about 3/4 of it. What can I say? This “no desserts” thing is really making me want salty goodness!

After I annihilated the popcorn, Ryan and my sister arrived home and we all changed into play clothes to take Sadie on a 40-minute walk before dinner.

By the time we arrived home we were ready for our St. Patrick’s Day feast.

On the menu for this evening was crock pot corned beef and cabbage with a side of garlic butter whole wheat penne pasta.

I love the way you can just pull apart corned beef. Every bite is tender and flavorful.

Ryan, my sister and I had no problem polishing off all of the corned beef. So much for leftovers!

Ryan and I are now trying to be respectful of Leslie as she tries to knock out some homework before hittin’ the road back to school. We’re keeping quiet by watching Harry Potter!

Sadie, on the other hands, has other plans for Leslie…

I wish Leslie was staying the night again this evening but she is leaving on a fraternity date function early tomorrow morning.

I miss date functions! They were some of my favorite memories in college! Any of you SAE-lovin’ girls out there remember Paddy Murphy and Superfunk? I wanna go again!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

The same thing happens to me — if I am trying to avoid sweets and candy I go right for the salty stuff!

Your dinner looks delicious — I’ve never made corned beef but I do pretty good with a crockpot 🙂

We had a traditional Irish dish, too. I’ve never had corned beef, though. It didn’t sound too appetising when I actually ate red meat..and now it’s not in my diet!

That dinner looks awesome! We were on our way to Dexter’s for dinner tonight and I think I saw the 3 of you walking. I saw this gorgeous dog and I told my husband, that looks like the viszla in on of the blogs I read. He wanted to shout out the window “she reads your blog,” but I held him back. Husbands… lol.

I dated (and am still dating) an SAE so I can relate to the love of Paddy Murphy and missing socials! We didn’t have Superfunk though– haha– not sure what that is. The fraternity did have an incredible “spring formal” though which was pretty much just a beach weekend with a formal date function thrown in the middle…. I miss college!

    Hi,
Your attitude towards food is really inspiring for me. I have never had that kind of relationship with food and started a blog today documenting my struggles. I hope that through the blogging community I will learn how to have that relationship that I want. Please stop by!
