During the summer months when it’s hot outside, it’s easier for me to remember to stay hydrated because warmer weather makes me thirstier and serves almost as a daily reminder to sip on a cold, refreshing beverage throughout the day. As the temperatures begin to drop, my desire to drink a lot of cold water decreases significantly, but there are a few key things we can all do to help remind ourselves to drink and stay hydrated all year long.
Below you will find a few tips that can be easily implemented to help keep yourself hydrated every day! (And stay tuned for a hydration-themed giveaway at the end of this post, thanks to Ocean Spray® PACt® cranberry extract water!)
- Opt For A Larger Water Bottle
If I have a large water bottle sitting in front of me as I work on the computer, I will often look down to find the water bottle completely drained without realizing I’ve been guzzling it down. Mindless drinking for the win! By opting for a larger water bottle – one that holds 20+ ounces – I find myself drinking more since a larger amount of water is simply sitting in front of me, making staying hydrated a bit easier!
- Refill Your Water Bottle Every Time You Go To The Bathroom
This is a tip I started to follow when I was working at my previous desk job, but now that I work from home, it’s one I still try to remind myself to follow since it’s a great way to remind yourself to always have a full water bottle with you! If you fill up your water bottle every time you use the bathroom, you’ll always have a full water bottle on hand, making staying hydrated that much easier!
- Vary Your Beverage To Prevent Boredom
If you’re anything like me, sipping on water all day long can start to get a bit boring. When I was pregnant, and now that I’m nursing, I cannot seem to drink enough but drinking tons and tons of plain water can feel a little dull. When I feel water boredom setting in, I opt for sparkling water or extract water to spice things up a bit! It’s an easy and delicious way to sneak in extra fluids.
I was recently sent a few bottles of Ocean Spray® PACt® cranberry extract water to try and it’s a great option to turn to when you want to hydrate your body with something that tastes great, too! The PACt® cranberry extract water contains PACs (proanthocyanidins), unique, powerful elements found deep inside cranberries that help cleanse and purify your body. The cranberry extract water is made with clean ingredients (the bright red color comes from cranberries alone and it’s sweetened naturally) and the water has only 10 calories per 16 ounce bottle.
My favorite flavor is the Cranberry Mango-Passionfruit and I love all of them mixed with a little bit of sparkling water for a refreshing mocktail any time of the day!
- Use A Straw
Is it just me, or is it a billion times easier to drink water when you do it from a straw (especially if you’re multi-tasking while pushing a baby in a stroller and walking your dog)? It makes sipping on water more fun and I try to drink most of my water from a water bottle or tumbler that has a straw. For some reason I just seem to drink more when I do it from a straw!
- Add Your Own Fun Flavors
According to Ocean Spray’s hydration survey (which you may find and take here), more than 60 percent of Americans are drinking less than eight glasses of water a day and more than half of all Americans don’t feel the need to hydrate when temperatures cool down. Make your water or water-based beverage more fun by adding your own flavors! Throw some fresh orange, grapefruit or cucumber slices into a cold cup of water. Crush mint leaves and stir them into sparkling water. Add frozen grapes to cranberry extract water for a tasty alternative to ice cubes!
Anything to make staying hydrated a little more fun!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Ocean Spray PACt. The opinions and text are all mine.
I have a huge cup I leave at work so I can drink water all day there, and then I always have a water bottle with me when I’m out and about!
I carry a water bottle around to all of my meetings at work! I used to only keep it at my desk, but now that I bring it with me my water intake has increased a lot.
Like you, I keep a huge jug of water with me all day. I’m constantly refilling!
I carry a water bottle with me everywhere and keep track of how many FL OZ I drink on my fitbit App. Try to hit the same goal every day!
For me, visibility is key — i have to see the water to be reminded!
Super simple, but makes a huuuge difference: bring a water bottle everywhere I go! Running errands, work, out with friends–doesn’t matter where, I always have my water bottle
Large tumblrs are the best – and with a straw is key! Mio flavor squeezes entice me to drink more and they are nice and low in sodium 🙂
I have a mental timer. By noon, I should have finished one Nalgene, and by 4, I should have finished two. My evenings I tend to drink less water, since I like to enjoy a glass of wine in the evening, but I always try to finish a third before I go to sleep at night!
What a fun post! I sometimes track my water with my fitbit, but I also like to infuse my water with fun flavors to make me more likely to crave it during the day.
I carry my water bottle everywhere I go, phone, car keys, water bottle. Rarely am I without it. LOVE a purse that I can fit that thing into. 🙂 And I don’t buy any other beverages (except for Coconut and Almond milk) so water is definitely the go to at my house. (love my daily emails from you)
I always have a full water bottle with me where ever I am!
When I have my phone with me (meaning it’s not being chewed on by my 9 month old), I log my water using my fitbit app. When that isn’t an option, I put hair ties on my refillable bottle to represent the number of bottles I want to drink and I roll them down one by one each time I refill my bottle!
I like to add lemon and strawberries to my water. I also keep a gallon water jug at my desk so I always have water.
I spend most of my days in the office, I have a routine to stay hydrated. When I fill my cup of coffee in the morning, I also have 32 oz water bottle that I fill when I fill my coffee mug….I drink at least 4 of these a day!
Funny realization – I had just set my purple camelbak water bottle down as I was scrolling through your blog post to see a photo of a purple camelbak! (Nobody at work understood my excitement!)
I find that on mornings I work out, I guzzle down a lot of extra water. I try to use one water bottle per day (I’m a lover of camelbak), and try to fill it no less than 5x before I leave work at the end of the day. The gym gives me 1x, then getting ready I tend to drink another water bottle full post-workout. I drink one in the car on my commute and whamo! I have more than hit my limit throughout the day! I like the tip about refills on bathroom breaks!
Also – unsweetened tea is a favorite of mine. Since I’m not adding sugar I like to think that I am only adding to my water intake 🙂
I love these tips! I definitely use the “larger bottle” one myself – I have a giant Tervis and try to be conscious about finishing and refilling it before each meal. I also try to get in at least a glass of water when I first get up. It helps me feel more alert and ready to go right away!
I make sure and drink a big glass of water as soon as I wake up, it helps set the tone and keeps me drinking all day long.
I also found that carrying a large tumbler with a straw seems to help me drink more. Since I’m currently nursing right now too, my body is constantly reminding me to drink anyways. Oh, so thirsty!
I always add fruits to my water to make them more appealing to drink instead of alternatives like soda or sugary sport drinks. Having lemon or mint water at the ready really makes it an easy (and obvious) choice!
I make myself drink a large glass of water first thing in the morning and last thing before bed.
I try to drink at least 1 giant glass of water as soon as I wake up.
Working full time can be difficult to make sure I’m drinking enough so I always carry a large water bottle to help! This is such a great giveaway !
Herbal tea is always my go to during the winter, and my water bottle never leaves my side during the winter!
I keep tally marks on my water bottle with a dry erase marker, trying to drink at least 5 of my 20oz bottles a day!
I have started to use straws in my cups too, it makes it so much easier! I also refill my water each time I get up from my desk and make sure there’s tons of ice in my cup. Ice cold water is so much tastier than room temp water!
I love water and I have found over the years that if I have it constantly with me, I drink more. I use a refillable cups with a lid and straw and it goes everywhere with me. Like you whenever I get up, I refill, so I am never on empty! I find during the winter I drink more if it is not ice cold! Have a blessed day!
I try to drink my water out of a mason jar because the jars are marked with ounces. That way I know exactly how many ounces I’m drinking during the day.
When I’m at home every time I either am in the kitchen (which is a lot) or around it (which is also a lot cause I have a very small house) I take a drink of water. I always keep a cup in the fridge filled with water and refill at needed. When I’m on the go I grab a bottle water from the fridge and take it with me. I also refill that while I’m on the go if needed.
Definitely sip on water at my desk in a huge water bottle!
I’m like you – having a tumbler or large bottle with a straw helps me drink my water! I often add Fresh Lime to help add some flavor. Would love to try this new product from Ocean Spray and it never hurts to have a Cute new Cup and Bottle 🙂
Thanks for the opportunity to win this!
I bring a water bottle with me everywhere! I like to use the non-leak ones so I can easily throw them in my purse, diaper bag, etc.
I definitely use the “always have a water bottle” trick to help me. Once I had one that I could take with me to meetings at work I started drinking so much more, since it was immediately available even when I was away from my desk.
I do my best to make sure I have some water flavoring packets with me at all times. Those are the only way I drink tap water. I love the taste of infused water though!
I love La Croix and that helps! I’m pregnant now though and struggling to get all the hydration I need.
I am a huge lover of lemon, so lemon water is my go to! Also, a couple times a year I try to buy myself a cute/cool new water bottle to keep myself excited about filling it to drink my water.
I keep a reusable water bottle within reach at all times, and when it’s chilly, I drink herbal tea or hot water with lemon all day long.
Some ways that I stay hydrated are by using sliced lemons to add some flavor to it and by having a fun water bottle that I carry around, which is a nice reminder to continue drinking throughout the day!
I have a liter-sized Camelbak bottle I keep with me at all times. I tell myself I have to have 2 liters gone before I leave work and one more liter once I get home!
I try to fill my cup each time I get up. I have been wanting to splurge on an infusion pitcher for quite a while now so maybe I will win one! Thanks for the giveaway!
I stay hydrated by filling my Nalgene water bottle (which is 32 oz) at lunchtime every day, and make sure I finish one bottle of it before then. That way, I know exactly where I am in drinking 8 glasses of water.
I have a 32 oz water bottle that I put on my desk during class to remind me to drink. I make sure to start my day by drinking 8 oz. Additionally, when I am in my dorm room, I fill up a 20 oz straw water bottle and I agree – the water goes away so much faster with a straw! If I am cold in the winter, I drink unsweetened lemon tea with a straw.
I like to switch to flavored water when plain water gets boring. Peach and mango are my favorites!
I keep a waterbottle right in front of my monitor so I can remember to drink water 🙂
I don’t ready have any tricks. I have always drank a lot of water. I’m nursing as well and had supply issues with my previous child, so it is extra important I get lots of water a day. I also limit my non water drinks to one a day. I find if I have a large soda, I drink less water because I’m sipping on that all day.
Flavored water helps a lot! Tea is a good alternative during colder months.
Drinking La Croix! I could drink this stuff all day!
I stay hydrated by using a super-cute glass water jug from Target! It’s 20 oz, has a lid and a straw, and a cute little anchor motif on the side- love it!! It doesn’t make my water taste plastic-y!
I take my Tervis tumbler filled with water everywhere I go – inside & out!
This is something I definately struggle with, so your tips are handy. (I am going to try changing to a cup with a straw and see how that works). Because I don’t drink nearly enough, I never leave the gym without finishing my water bottle there — I figure I better get it in while I actually feel thirsty.
I use a big tumbler at work and at home and drink from a straw just like you. I love adding lemon to my water and lately I’ve been drinking Pellegrino to quench by “carbonated drink craving” instead of soda. You can add flavors to it too to make a cheaper flavored carbonated water.
