During the summer months when it’s hot outside, it’s easier for me to remember to stay hydrated because warmer weather makes me thirstier and serves almost as a daily reminder to sip on a cold, refreshing beverage throughout the day. As the temperatures begin to drop, my desire to drink a lot of cold water decreases significantly, but there are a few key things we can all do to help remind ourselves to drink and stay hydrated all year long.
Below you will find a few tips that can be easily implemented to help keep yourself hydrated every day! (And stay tuned for a hydration-themed giveaway at the end of this post, thanks to Ocean Spray® PACt® cranberry extract water!)
- Opt For A Larger Water Bottle
If I have a large water bottle sitting in front of me as I work on the computer, I will often look down to find the water bottle completely drained without realizing I’ve been guzzling it down. Mindless drinking for the win! By opting for a larger water bottle – one that holds 20+ ounces – I find myself drinking more since a larger amount of water is simply sitting in front of me, making staying hydrated a bit easier!
- Refill Your Water Bottle Every Time You Go To The Bathroom
This is a tip I started to follow when I was working at my previous desk job, but now that I work from home, it’s one I still try to remind myself to follow since it’s a great way to remind yourself to always have a full water bottle with you! If you fill up your water bottle every time you use the bathroom, you’ll always have a full water bottle on hand, making staying hydrated that much easier!
- Vary Your Beverage To Prevent Boredom
If you’re anything like me, sipping on water all day long can start to get a bit boring. When I was pregnant, and now that I’m nursing, I cannot seem to drink enough but drinking tons and tons of plain water can feel a little dull. When I feel water boredom setting in, I opt for sparkling water or extract water to spice things up a bit! It’s an easy and delicious way to sneak in extra fluids.
I was recently sent a few bottles of Ocean Spray® PACt® cranberry extract water to try and it’s a great option to turn to when you want to hydrate your body with something that tastes great, too! The PACt® cranberry extract water contains PACs (proanthocyanidins), unique, powerful elements found deep inside cranberries that help cleanse and purify your body. The cranberry extract water is made with clean ingredients (the bright red color comes from cranberries alone and it’s sweetened naturally) and the water has only 10 calories per 16 ounce bottle.
My favorite flavor is the Cranberry Mango-Passionfruit and I love all of them mixed with a little bit of sparkling water for a refreshing mocktail any time of the day!
- Use A Straw
Is it just me, or is it a billion times easier to drink water when you do it from a straw (especially if you’re multi-tasking while pushing a baby in a stroller and walking your dog)? It makes sipping on water more fun and I try to drink most of my water from a water bottle or tumbler that has a straw. For some reason I just seem to drink more when I do it from a straw!
- Add Your Own Fun Flavors
According to Ocean Spray’s hydration survey (which you may find and take here), more than 60 percent of Americans are drinking less than eight glasses of water a day and more than half of all Americans don’t feel the need to hydrate when temperatures cool down. Make your water or water-based beverage more fun by adding your own flavors! Throw some fresh orange, grapefruit or cucumber slices into a cold cup of water. Crush mint leaves and stir them into sparkling water. Add frozen grapes to cranberry extract water for a tasty alternative to ice cubes!
Anything to make staying hydrated a little more fun!

This is a sponsored conversation written by me on behalf of Ocean Spray PACt. The opinions and text are all mine.
I always fill my water bottle when I go to the bathroom at work, I walk right by the kitchen so it’s easy! I have also started adding lemon and sometimes strawberries to my water bottle overnight, I love playing around with the flavors of infused water!
I always have a water bottle with me, at home, on the go, no matter where. It helps me stay on top of keeping myself hydrated. Thanks for the chance to win!
I add a straw to my nalgene to help me drink more water. I dont know why but drinking through a straw makes me drink more!
I take my Nalgene everywhere with me!
I try to fill up a large water bottle 3 times a day, breakfast, lunch & before bed.
I carry a water bottle (sometimes two if I’m with my husband!) everywhere I go. I even have those flat ones that roll up for when we travel!
I always have a water bottle and keep track of my water intake with my Fitbit!
I always keep a water bottle with me. I also like adding in Mio or other drink mixes to keep it interesting!
I carry around a 32oz Nalgene water bottle (the best water bottles :D) with me throughout the day. Plus those hydration apps where you grow your own plants depending on how much water you drink are also really cute 🙂
I, like you, need to drink out of a straw. I don’t know why but it helps me get my daily water intake.
I’m a bug water drinker when I’m at home or at work, but keeping a water bottle in the car helps for days when I’m out and about a lot – it’s always a race to drink as many sips as possible before the light turns green!
I try to drink 40 ounces by lunchtime so then, even if I slow down the rest of the day, I’ll likely hit my goal of 64 ounces!
Plain water is fine with meals but for in between I add a splash of naturally flavored selter (big grocery store bottles are cheap) to make it more interesting
I keep small bottles at my desk and sip during class transitions. I also sip warm water to warm me up!
I agree with the straw tip! I drink so much more water when I have a straw!
I drink plain water all day long, then reward myself with carbonated water when I get home from work. I look forward to that fizz!
I keep a big water bottle with a straw at my desk at work and keep refilling it all day! That definitely helps me stay hydrated.
For me it makes all the difference to have a large water bottle with a smaller mouth on the top. It holds plenty so I don’t run out when I can’t get up to get more and I don’t worry about spilling it all over myself whenever I try to take a drink. (Which was so typically with my previously wider mouth water bottle…)
I keep my waterbottle at my desk and always take the extra time to make myself a hot tea in the morning to start hydrating at the beginning of the day.
I always always carry a water bottle with me (usually my tervis tumbler). I can always tell when I haven’t had one with me all day. I also love adding lemon to keep things interesting 🙂
I use the same water bottle that I use at the gym. After my workout, I fill it back up and make sure to finish that before I have any other kind of drink. I also use sliced fruit to give the water a little something extra.
I bring my nalgene bottle with me wherever I go. Since I teach I make sure that I refill it in between classes so that it is always full.
I bought a water bottle with a straw installed into the lid, so there’s no forgetting it!
I have ice water next to my bed and before I go downstairs I finish my water no matter how full it is so I can refill it. Is easy way to get my oz in and steps!
I keep a bottle filled at my desk. Helps me stay hydrated all day long!
I really want a water bottle with a straw! I think it’ll help me drink even more than I do. At work we have fruit-infused water all the time and it helps keep the variety high (one day it’ll be watermelon water, the next grapefruit, another day lemon). I think I’ll have to use your advice of filling up my water when I go to the bathroom, too! If water is there I’ll drink it, but there are days when I realize I haven’t had any all day just because I didn’t fill up before I sat down!
Adding lemon slices to my water definitely makes it easier to drink, and lots of ice!!
At work, I drink from a large cup with a straw and try to drink it completely 3x each day. At home, I drink tons of sparkling water so Cokes seem less appealing.
I put lemon in my water–and sometimes ginger to mix it up!!
I am TERRIBLE at staying hydrated! So when I really make an effort to drink my water, I drink large portions at different times of the day. Right when I wake up, and whenever else I realized I’ve gone too lone without water. And I am nursing my 6 week old baby girl, so I really need to be consistent. Maybe winning would help!;)
i carry a water bottle all day to stay hydrated!
Girl, I totally bought one of those bubba kegs after seeing you post it on IG! That thing is amazing and makes me drink a ton of water!! I usually put lime juice in my water to spice it up!!
I love adding a tiny splash of Cranberry juice to plain water to make it taste better. I bet I would definitely enjoy the Ocean Spray PACt 🙂
I always have y water bottle with me! I love adding lemon to my water as well!
I carry an insulated bottle of water with me all the time!
I keep my water bottle with me all day every day.
I keep 3 water bottles in my room and refill them every night as part of my nighttime routine, so I never have to do it during the day.
I use the Android app Water Your Body. It calculates how much water I need and you can set it to send you reminders if you fall behind how much you should be drinking.
Drinking through a straw makes me drink so much more water! I have a special water cup with a straw that I use at home!
If my water gets close to room temperature(from ice water) I guzzle it and re-fill it with ice water and so on and so on. Keeps me on track!
I use a tumbler with a straw a lot like yours, but it’s double-walled so it doesn’t sweat on my desk! I bet the Bubba Keg keeps things colder much longer, though.
I always carry a bottle of water with me when I’m out, and at home, I have a giant cup for my water so I stay hydrated.
I refill my CamelBak almost every time I use the bathroom, bring it with me everywhere, and the straw definitely helps with the mindless drinking!
I LOVE THIS GIVEAWAY. So practical and fun. I love to have a big water bottle with me at all times and would love for my hubby to do the same.
I sit at a desk all day (although I am on maternity leave right now!) so I always make sure to have my water bottle with me. I refill it every hour (and/or when it’s empty if prior to the hour). I take it to every meeting also- literally having it with me from the moment I walk into the office until I leave for the day.
I’m perpetually thirsty, so remembering to stay hydrated isn’t a huge issue for me, but staying hydrated can still be a challenge! I always (always!) carry a water bottle with me. I even fill one up before I go to bed because sometimes I wake up in the middle of the night crazy thirsty.
I drink a lot of hot herbal tea in the winter and sparkling wTer in the summer
I just got a Yeti and I love that no matter when I get to it, it’s still ice water! 🙂
Always have a large water bottle by my side! Goal is to always drink half my weight in ounces everyday.
I always keep a cup with a straw at my desk and have plenty of La Croix or Perrier at home to mix things up!
