Sunshine

April 13, 2011 by Julie 99 Comments

“There’s sunshine after every storm.”

That is one of my all-time favorite quotes and one I look to when times are tough.

I wholeheartedly believe that everything in life always works out, even when a situation is so grave and taxing that it’s hard to imagine. I tell myself “it’ll all be fine” a lot in life. Whether it be stressing out over personal issues or plugging away at a difficult task at work, things always have a way of working out.

And that’s why I loved this quote that blog reader Caroline shared on my morning post:

“Don’t let the rain and the clouds keep you from seeing the sunshine in your life.”

Those wise words that came from Caroline’s mother are a great reminder that even in dark days, we all have something to smile about. Through serious health, financial, relationship and job issues, something or someone in our life deserves a smile.

Lunch

One little ray of sunshine in my day was my lunch!

Wednesday's Lunch

Look familiar?

Yes, that would be a nearly identical bagelwich to the one I had for breakfast. I say nearly because I replaced the Colby jack cheese with muenster cheese and the pear slices with apple slices.

Eat Up!

A completely new bagelwich! 😉

Chomp!

On the side I enjoyed leftover roasted green beans and three oddly-sliced carrots.

Two chicken wings and a garlic knot were also consumed thanks to the food stash of some coworkers.

Yum!

Back to plugging away at work…

Question of the Afternoon

  • What is the “sunshine” in your day today?

My sunshine is my husband. He is so unbelievably supportive of me and my often quite lofty dreams. His faith in me and my goals gives me strength and courage to take risks and follow my heart, even when it’s scary and nerve-wracking.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That’s so sweet to hear Ryan being so supportive of you and your dreams! Jay is very supportive, but also very realistic, so unfortunately, the two tend to clash once in a while.
The thought of my dinner tonight is my current “sunshine”…with a soda on the siiiide. 😉

hahaha. love it. ryan is also extremely realistic but i am typically the over-thinker. believe it or not i was so freaked out about owning a dog that he had to basically say we’re doing it! i was so worried about messing it up and not being a good enough doggie-mama! i think a balance of the two views is so important. two dreamers would get nothing done… and neither would two overly realistic people.

My husband is definitely also my sunshine. He works so hard at what he does because he believes (like I do) that some day, our lives will be in a place that is much easier than it is now (workwise, etc) and we will look back on the hard times with such big smiles on our faces, that it will be more than worth it. our pup helps a lot too. it’s hard not to laugh when we see how happy she is about gnawing on a spatula!!!

My sunshine seems to change with the situation. Today it was a coworker sending me a funny video that made me laugh out loud (I was really stressing about something). My husband and family are always sunshine in my life but there are so often small things that bring my day back into the sunshine. I look for the little things and appreciate them all.

The sunshine in my day today is that even though I’m working late, I absolutely LOVE the people that I work with. How lucky am I to work with such great people? Even when the work isn’t so fun, I have great people to laugh with, eat with, and even vent with 🙂 Keep enjoyin the sunshine!
