Tax Day Freebies

April 17, 2012 by Julie 41 Comments

I had a summer squash in the fridge that was on the verge of death and knew my lunch needed to revolve around it unless I wanted to waste it and toss it in the garbage.

Waste not!

I ended up chopping up the squash and sautéing it along with al fresco chipotle chorizo chicken sausage. The sausage added plenty of flavor to the dish, so I didn’t even need the seasonings I was planning on adding as everything cooked.

On the side, I ate a toasted whole wheat Nature’s Own English muffin topped with a bit of Smart Balance and a sprinkle of garlic salt.

Tax Day Freebies

As I’m sure most of you know, today is tax day!

I’ve heard my fair share of tax day-related deals and commercials on the radio and remember there being some pretty cool offers out there last year from companies for people looking for a good deal on tax day.

When I Googled tax day freebies for this year, I found the following deals for Americans today:

  • Arby’s – Free value curly fries (click here for coupon)
  • Boston Market – Buy one individual meal and a fountain drink and get the second individual meal free (click here for coupon)
  • Cinnabon – Two free mini cinnamon roll bites from 6 – 8 p.m. at participating locations
  • Chili’s – Free appetizer or dessert with entree purchase from April 16 to 18 (click here for coupon)
  • Marble Slab Creamery & Maggie Moo’s – Free scoop of yogurt from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. at participating locations
  • P.F. Chang’s – 15% off all dine-in and take out orders
  • Sonic – 1/2 price drinks & slushes
  • Panda Express – Free Shanghai angus steak if you “Like” their page on Facebook

Granted these aren’t the healthiest freebies, but the Marble Slab and Maggie Moo’s deal has me awfully intrigued. Too bad neither store has a location near me! I’m always down for free ice cream!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Have you ever taken advantage of a tax-day freebie?
  • What is the best deal or coupon you’ve seen floating around recently?

I am always impressed by all of the buy one, get one free deals at Publix. I seriously stock up when my favorite foods are on sale. I left with six packs of Van’s waffles on Sunday!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I haven’t ever seen tax day deals before! I don’t eat at fast food places unless I’m traveling and I haven’t noticed them at a grocery store before! I’ll keep an eye out though!

I didn’t know about tax day deals… interesting! One thing I’ve started doing recently is googing coupon codes every time I buy something online. Almost every time I find either a free shipping code or something!

I would hit the ice cream place if we had one near by! I usually take part in the free Ritas on the first day of Spring. 🙂

I’m loving summer squash lately after making your casserole! That dish looks simple and delish! None of those tax freebies are near me either – I looked last night :/. Lame! I could have used them too as taxes have made me very poor this year!

I didn’t even know about tax day! I don’t think we have it here, but if we do, I’d like to hear about it. The best deal I recently took advantage of was free shipping on a Vitamix!

Our anniversary is on april 15th, which is normally tax day!

McDonalds used to have 59 cent cheeseburgers on tax day and my hubby always used to get them. I don’t think they do that anymore though.
Mcdonalds used to have Free Coffee Monday, and that was the best thing ever! Then they got rid of that too.

Thanks for posting the Tax Day freebies! 🙂 I love the chicken from Boston Market. I might need to convince my fiance that we must stop there for dinner. I know it’s not the healthiest option but their rotisserie chicken is like none other!

Van’s waffles are my favorite! I always stock up too.

I haven’t really heard about the tax-day deals, but since I try to eat healthier than most of those restaurants anyway, I guess I’m not missing out on too much then. Although, like you Julie, I’d be up for the free ice cream for sure!

They’re not coupons, but my Kroger store has been having killer deals lately-BOGO, and it seems like the stuff I have on my grocery list is always on sale! I’ve gotten $1 off my silk milk for the past 4 visits!

I’ve never heard of tax day freebies!

I love when Larabars are 10 for $10. They are usually almost $2 a bar here so I buy at least 20 bars every time it happens. I also always buy ketchup when it’s buy one get one – meanwhile neither myself or my fiance use ketchup that often. I think BOGO makes me sometimes buy things I don’t need…

And thank you for the compliment on my blog name earlier! 🙂

    NEVER AGAIN! hahaha!
