Teaching, Hydrating and Eating

April 14, 2015 by Julie 23 Comments

Thank you all so, so much for your thoughtful comments and for opening up so much following my morning blog post. I know worrying is quite common during pregnancy and I very much appreciate you sharing personal stories, advice and kind words with me. Thank you!! You make me feel more at ease during this incredible journey!

Today

As I said at the end of my morning blog post, I am feeling much better today! Water is my BFF and I’m tracking my intake to make sure I’m staying hydrated moving forward.

The nurse yesterday said she didn’t see a problem with me teaching spinning this morning as long as I felt better and continued to hydrate, so I headed off to teach my usual 6 a.m. class after the alarm went off and I chugged some water. I arrived equipped with an energetic playlist and added a fun song for the “ride home” at the end of class.

“What’s Up?” by 4 Non Blondes.

My goodness, I just love that song. I downloaded it last week after I heard Kimberly Nichole’s rockin’ rendition of the song on The Voice and it was a big hit in today’s class.

And I say, heeeeeeey hey hey hey…
I said hey, what’s going on?

So good.

Breakfast

After spinning, I headed home to make myself breakfast. My morning meal centered around a bowl of not-so-beautiful egg white oatmeal that I made with a scoop of peanut butter and cocoa powder because you simply cannot beat the chocolate + peanut butter flavor combination.

I also sipped on a cup of decaf coffee on the side and dug into an oatmeal banana flax muffin 20 minutes later.

Lunch

Before heading back to the gym to round out the work day, I typed up my morning blog post, took a a much-needed shower and packed a late morning snack. I wrapped things up at the gym not too long ago and drove home for a late lunch which began with a bowl of egg salad…

And concluded with a smoothie!

Smoothie

To make my smoothie, I combined a frozen banana, frozen mango, almond butter, spinach, cocoa powder and Greek yogurt. Yum!

And now I’m off to Girls On The Run! Have a great Tuesday, my friends, and thanks again for your kindness this morning. You’re the best!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

printed a quote I heard when I was pregnant and framed it for the nursery:
“No one else will ever know the strength of my love for you; after all, you’re the only one who knows what my heart sounds like from the inside”
    *not sure where it’s from…

That egg salad looks incredible! Is it just eggs or what else do you have mingled in? Good to hear your feeling better!

It’s great you are able to continue teaching and GOTR. I’m considering becoming a volunteer at the NYC chapter – do you happen to know anything about volunteering with them outside of coaching a group? With my upcoming bar exam and first year at a law firm, I can’t really commit to the afternoon coaching sessions, but would love to be involved!

Your post this morning was well timed! I’m almost 7 weeks now and have never been an anxious person. The past 2 weeks have been a lot to handle, and it’s nice to see I’m not alone! Loving all your pregnancy updates too! It’s like a preview of what’s to come in a couple of months 🙂

When I was about 5? Months along, I had sever cramping. I ended up in the ER and found out it was something called “round-ligament” pain. My uterus muscles stretching. I had had cramping through out my pregnancy, but nothing like what I experienced that day. I remember seeing our little guy when they did that ultrasound and just sobbing with relief and the realization at what this little life meant to me:) I then started keeping a diary, which I still have and will give to my son, Deacon, when he’s older. It was more of a documentation of what his father I were going through on a day to day basis and emotionally. My prayers to you an your family!

Julie, I am a nicu nurse and witness babies coming too early all the time and I can honestly say that the bond you feel now is only going to get more intense! Your worries are completely normal and honestly totally expected. Keep up the positive attitude and keep taking great care of yourself. Your baby boy is lucky to have you as his mom:)

I also get dehydrated very easily and normally turn to G2 gatorade or light poweraide to help with dehydration. After workouts outside in Florida, I don’t feel better until I have had something with electrolytes in it. Just might help prevent some of those cramps.

I feel like it’s my job as one of your younger readers to educate you on that song hahaha it was spoofed for a he-man video which ended up being one of the most popular videos on youtube (the video is known as the “center of the internet”). This isn’t the original, but watch it! It’s hilarious https://youtu.be/ZZ5LpwO-An4
