The weekend ahead should be a decent one as we have some fun things on the agenda, including a fishing derby, a birthday party and a karate flag sparring tournament. It should be a good one and we’re looking forward to unplugging and spending time together as family.
I hope you all have a great weekend and thanks so much for stopping by the blog for today’s roundup of favorites!
Things I’m Loving Friday
Top: Z Supply / Pants: Z Supply / Sneakers: Adidas Sambas
Top: Z Supply / Pants: Z Supply / Sandals: Target / Bag: Clare V / Bag Strap: Clare V
I was served an Instagram ad for this matching set by Z Supply about 1,000 times until finally I was like, “Alright, already, I’ll buy it!” It was calling to me time and time again because it’s made with 100% cotton and the flowy fit looked like something I would gravitate toward in my closet again and again (aka flowy, comfortable and matching in a way that makes even cozy clothes look like an outfit). I tried it on the moment it arrived last Friday and ended up leaving it on and wearing it to Jellystone and all weekend long because I loved it so much… and then I wore it again this week the minute it was clean again. The fabric is so comfortable and lightweight and I fear this purchase may have unlocked a new love for Z Supply in me because now I’m eyeing a handful of their coordinating pieces. (For sizing reference, I am in a small in the top and a medium in the bottoms.)
Supergoop!‘s annual springtime sale is here!! This is the sale I take advantage of every single year to stock up on our family’s sunscreen for the year. Supergoop! sunscreen became our family’s favorite years ago and I have my parents and sister and her family obsessed with it as well because it applies so smoothly (NOT sticky!), doesn’t leave a white cast and offers great protection. Since Supergoop! rarely goes on sale, I use this time of year to stock up on all of our favorites at 20% off (+ an extra 10% off first-time orders + free travel-size gift on orders $70+). Also worth noting for those interested in clean sunscreen, the majority of Supergoop! sunscreen I researched on the EWG website received a 2 or 3 rating which I personally think is great for a product we’re using daily in the summertime.
Below you will find a breakdown of our family’s favorite Supergoop! finds:
- Supergoop! Play Everyday Lotion SPF 50: We buy the giant 18-ounce size and I LOVE the pump because it makes applying sunscreen to three energetic kids a little easier. We go through SO MUCH sunscreen all summer long and this size is the best for our family! It’s also the sunscreen we leave out for guests to use when they come over for lake fun.
- Supergoop! Play Everyday Body Mist SPF 50: Bless spray sunscreen! It’s the BEST for re-applying sunscreen when we’re out and about with the kids and this is our go-to. I always have this in my pool back for a quick-reapply of sunscreen when we’re out and about.
- Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen SPF 50: If you’re looking for the clearest of the clear sunscreen for your face, Supergoop! has you covered with this 100% mineral sunscreen. It doubles as a makeup primer (great for everyday wear) and is non-irritating, scentless and weightless. Win, win.
- Supergoop! (Re)setting 100% Mineral Powder Sunscreen: This genius product is perfect for giving your face SPF protection throughout the day without ruining your makeup! Just dust this powder over your face and be on your way.
- Supergoop! Play Everyday Sunscreen Stick SPF 50: I bought this for the first time this year to keep in my bag for sunscreen touch-ups on-the-go for our family.
- Supergoop! Glowscreen SPF 40: Think of this as a hybrid sunscreen/makeup primer! It gives my skin a glow and is nearly sheer but there’s a subtle tint to it that I like because I feel like it makes my skin look a little better than sunscreen alone. I also keep this in my pool/beach bag and love it for my face and even my body!
I also recommend their Daily SPF Starter Kit if you’re unfamiliar with Supergoop! to see if it’s a good fit for you. It comes with three of of their bestsellers, two of which I mentioned above that we love.

The Rom-Commers by Katherine Center
Genre: Romance Comedy / My rating: B
This book fell right in the “just okay” category of reads for me. It was an easy and entertaining will-they-or-won’t-they romance read but one that never fully had me feeling overly invested in the plot or the main characters. I flat-out did not like the main male character (and thought that while the intentions behind some of his actions were explained and predictable, they weren’t fully excusable or particularly endearing) and felt completely apathetic about whether or not the main relationship would work out. There were aspects of the book I enjoyed — the jobs of the main characters, the peek into the screenwriting world, the main characters’ shared love of writing, the epilogue — and though I may be in the minority with my opinion (the book has a lot of great reviews on Amazon and Good Reads), The Rom-Commers fell a little flat for me. However, worth noting: The main character’s father gives a speech at the end that was the best part of the entire book for me. I loved it.
The book begins when Emma Wheeler gets what she is sure is going to be her big break. She travels to Los Angeles to rewrite the script for a new romantic comedy atrociously written by her screenwriting idol, Charlie Yates. Only when she shows up Charlie not only doesn’t know she’s coming, but he very clearly does not want her help, nor does he even want to see the movie he’s working on actually make it to the big screen. Emma has other plans, however, as a die-hard fan of rom-coms and a talented writer, she is determined to make an impact on his horrible script and maybe even on his depressing view about love in the process.

The Drowning Woman by Robyn Harding
Genre: Mystery/Thriller / My rating: B+
After finishing The Rom-Commers, I was in the mood for something with a little suspense and some twists and thankfully The Drowning Woman popped up as available on my Libby app! I had a rough night of sleep a couple of days ago which meant I read a lot and ended up finishing this book in two nights. The Drowning Woman quickly roped me in and while I liked the first half of the book more than the second (somewhat of a rarity in thrillers), I appreciated the ample twists the author threw in the mix, especially the first one!
From Amazon:
Lee Gulliver never thought she’d find herself living on the streets—no one ever does—but when her restaurant fails, and she falls deeper into debt, she leaves her old life behind with nothing but her clothes and her Toyota Corolla. In Seattle, she parks in a secluded spot by the beach to lay low and plan her next move—until early one morning, she sees a sobbing woman throw herself into the ocean. Lee hauls the woman back to the surface, but instead of appreciation, she is met with fury. The drowning woman, Hazel, tells her that she wanted to die, that she’s trapped in a toxic, abusive marriage, that she’s a prisoner in her own home. Lee has thwarted her one chance to escape her life.
Out of options, Hazel retreats to her gilded cage, and Lee thinks she’s seen the last of her, until her unexpected return the next morning. Bonded by disparate but difficult circumstances, the women soon strike up a close and unlikely friendship. And then one day, Hazel makes a shocking request: she wants Lee to help her disappear. It’ll be easy, Hazel assures her, but Lee soon learns that nothing is as it seems, and that Hazel may not be the friend Lee thought she was.
