Things I’m Loving Friday #67

January 9, 2015 by Julie 74 Comments

Happy, happy Friday, my friends! I hope you’re feeling extra chipper today and ready for a fun weekend ahead.

Ryan and I have a fairly open agenda which is absolutely perfect. Is it bad that all I really want to do tonight  is sit on the couch, order pizza and watch an embarrassing number of episodes of Homeland? I fear that show is going to make me anti-social… I’m addicted!

Before our Homeland marathon tonight, we must get through the final work day of the week. I’m off to the gym to work for most of the day and teach PiYo for the second time. Last week’s class went well and I was definitely relieved to get the first class under my belt! I spent some more time this week brushing up on the choreography and hope today’s class goes even better.

And now here is your weekly Things I’m Loving Friday post where we all chat about what we’re loving most every week. Please feel free to participate in the comments section of this post! Have a great weekend, everyone!!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • Bath & Body Works A Thousand Wishes Body Butter

A Thousand Wishes Bath and Body Works

I bought this last weekend when Ryan and I went to the mall after brunch on Sunday. Bath & Body Works was in the middle of a HUGE sale and I picked up a tub of this fantastic smelling body butter for $7 and have been using it every day since. My skin cannot get enough moisture these days, so this body butter is saving me!

  • Marc Jacobs Honey Travel Size Perfume

marc jacobs honey travel size

I received this perfume as a stocking stuffer on Christmas and fell in love with the bright fruity/floral scent. The size is perfect for throwing in my purse for when I might need an on-the-go refresher!

  • Teddie Peanut Butter

Teddie Peanut Butter

This stuff is salty, creamy and so, so delicious. I received a jar from my blogging buddy Tina and totally understand her love for this peanut butter. I cannot really pinpoint what it is about Teddie peanut butter that makes it taste better than most all-natural peanut butters I’ve tried out there, but I am a huge fan and cannot seem keep my spoon (okay, my finger) out of the jar! Bonus: The only two ingredients are roasted peanuts and salt. No sugar or freaky ingredients to be found!

  • Relax Melodies App

Relax Melodies App

Ryan got me hooked on sleeping with a small oscillating fan on for some ambient noise a few years ago. Now I, too, love a little white noise when I’m trying to sleep and ever since our space fan broke we’ve been using the Relax Melodies app at night (urban rain + oscillating fan = winning combination) and love it. We also use it when we travel, which I highly recommend if you’re used to sleeping with an oscillating fan at home. The app is great for drowning out street noise and definitely helps me zone out.

  • Beanie + Sweater Info

Terrace Cafe

I just wanted to quickly highlight where my oversized sweater and beanie are from after a bunch of questions from you guys on Monday! The sweater is from Stitch Fix (the brand is Ellison) and the beanie can be found here on Amazon for $13! I couldn’t find the exact sweater online, but here are some similar oversized pullover striped sweater options (all under $40): Super Stripe Tunic Top, Striped Boyfriend Sweater, Horizontal-Stripe Sweater… And this option is my favorite (in white), but it’s pricier: Oversize Stripe Tunic

Bath and Body Work’s Body Butter is pretty much the best thing! Especially this time of year. I am still fully stocked from the LAST semi-annual sale, so I have not been in to check out the new scents.

You should try Violet Lily Sky from Bath and Body Works – my favorite smell hands down!

Congrats on your first PiYo class, Julie! As far as sleep apps go, I haven’t checked out the one you mentioned but I’ve been using Sleep Cycle for almost a year now and I love it! It’s brilliant for tracking your nightly movements and sleep quality, and it’s got calming music to gradually fall asleep and wake up to. Much nicer than waking up to a blaring alarm!

I have tried a couple of different sleep apps too. I also really like ocean sounds. We keep a fan going in our bedroom and that’s enough for me lately. I must be tired. 🙂 Have a wonderful weekend and enjoy Homeland. I think it makes everyone anti-social. Total addiction.

Funny fact: that is the EXACT combination of noises I use on that exact app every night! 🙂

Can you give me any tips on how you set up your account preferences and style type? Also, I would love to see a post on a Stitch Fix box and what you liked , didn’t like, kept and returned!

Hi Jessica!! I went through the normal style preferences set up through Stitch Fix, but I constantly request specific items I see on other blogs/Pinterest (if you search “Stitch Fix” on Pinterest, you can always find a bunch!) — I also made sure to link my Fashion Pinterest board to my Stitch Fix account b/c they say this REALLY helps your stylist get a better feel for outfits/styles you like!

That app looks awesome! I have to sleep with the fan on because I like the noise, but these past few nights it’s been so dang cold, I’ve had like 3 blankets just so I could still have the fan on. Maybe and app like this would solve the problem!

The whole bone broth trend really makes me laugh. It’s just stock. I make a pot every week to have on hand for recipes because it’s so much more flavorful and cheaper than the store bought stuff. It also encourages me to buy cheaper cuts of beef/chicken and trim them myself instead of buying boneless and skinless. I love stock-but I’m not drinking it for the health benefits anytime soon.

Much to my dismay, I discovered soon after I moved in August that some of my new neighbors (who are in their mid 50s, btw) turns their garage (which faces my window) into a man cave every weekend night during the summer (which probably wouldn’t be a *huge* issue for most people, but for those of us who go to bed at like 8:30 on Friday nights in the summer because we have to get up at 4:45 on Saturday morning to do our marathon training long runs, this was definitely a HUGE ISSUE.). I downloaded Sleep Pillow, which is a lot like Relax Melodies (though with way less options), and it was a LIFESAVER. That ambient noise can make all the difference!

I’ve heard about bone broth too! I’ve been dying to try it after reading the article you posted and The Skinny Confidential a week or so ago. No luck @ whole foods!

Random, but I am also LOVING my new clarisonic MIA face brush & their gentle cleanser. I know you mentioned a few months back your skin was giving you a hard time; mine has been awful the past six months and after two weeks of using the cleanser/brush my acne has cleared, pores have become so much smaller & my skin just feels so soft and perfect! It hasn’t been drying out my skin which is a huge plus in the winter! Just thought I’d share 🙂

Last year I migrated from southern California to Fargo, North Dakota. The shock of my first of ever winter (a winter that stayed in the negatives for months at a time) led to a serious hibernation.

My boyfriend and I hide from the cold by watching four seasons of Games of Thrones, two seasons of Gilmore Girls and quite a few Mindy Projects.

Though I’m not usually a chunky PB kinda gal, I will say I think I like the Teddy Super Chunk PB better than the smooth. The chunks of peanuts are great!
