Things I’m Loving Friday V

October 11, 2013 by Julie 62 Comments

Hello and happy Friday! I am currently soaking up as much time with my grandmothers as possible, but I typed up another “Things I’m Loving Friday” post to share while I’m spending time with my family.

Please feel free to play along in the comments section!

Things I’m Loving Friday

  • The adorable way my sister asked her bridesmaids to be in her wedding

IMG_3350

How cute is my sister’s adorable craft project? Leslie sent these fun boxes to all of her bridesmaids to ask them to be in her wedding. I was so excited when I opened up my box and found a fun candy ring pop inside! I cannot wait to be Leslie’s maid of honor and stand by her side on her wedding day. We’ve already started bachelorette party preparations and we’ll be heading to Savannah in January to celebrate. Lots of fun to come!

  • Saigon Cinnamon

Saigon Cinnamon

This cinnamon is stronger and a little spicier than usual cinnamon and I can’t get enough of it! The flavor holds up really well in my morning cup of coffee and in the batches of protein pancakes that I’ve made with the spice. I cannot wait to make oatmeal cookies and throw a dash of the cinnamon into the dough. I think it would really kick the flavor up a notch and make them taste incredible!

  • Athleta Rishi Jacket

Athleta Pink Jacket Rishi

I am ready for the Florida weather to get nice and chilly so I can wear this jacket non-stop. Athleta contacted me to review one of their apparel items and after browsing their website, I found this gorgeous pink jacket (on sale!) and was instantly smitten. It’s extra long which is great for someone with a long torso like me. I wore it all over Canada and appreciated its warmth and the high neck and hood on cold mornings.

  • The 5 Year Anniversary of My Mom’s Breast Cancer Surgery

Breast Cancer Survivor

This months marks five years since my mom’s double mastectomy and our entire family is overcome with gratitude and happiness. Hitting the five-year mark is a huge milestone and I could not be more proud of the strength, optimism and resilience my mom has demonstrated every single day since her diagnosis. She is incredible.

  • SoliBeat

solibeat

My friend and fellow fitness instructor, Gina, and her friend Sasha released their first dance fitness DVD a couple of weeks ago and it is so much fun! I had a chance to try it out last Sunday and, as someone who cannot do choreographed dance to save her life, I was excited to see that there was a section of the DVD dedicated to breaking down the moves that later popped up in the routines. The workout was fast-paced but I never felt lost and loved the great beats and energetic music. I’m so, so proud of my friend. Congrats on such a great DVD, Gina!!!

A big congrats to your mom’s huge milestone! That’s just fantastic!

That cinnamon sounds wonderful! I’m such a huge fan of cinnamon and use it in just about everything. I’ve got to get that DVD. It’s totally up my ally and I’m sure I’d love it!

Enjoy the precious family time, and very happy for your mom – well done!

Things I’m loving this Friday? In aid of National Bandana Day (12 October) every South African is encouraged to wear a bandana to work, university or school to show their solidarity with those fighting leukaemia and to raise funds for tissue typing. So we all wore colourful bandanas to work as an alice band, or neck scarf, or around their waists or some guys wore it on their arm ala “Survivor” 😉

My weekend starts in 15 minutes, the sun is shining, and I get to spend time with my man just now and with family tomorrow, so HAPPY WEEKEND Julie, Ryan, Sadie and all the readers 🙂

Saigon cinnamon is my favorite kind! The organic kind of too die for. I don’t know what makes it much better but it just is.
And that is a really cute way for your Sister to ask you to be her Bridesmaid.
I really like the color of that jacket! I really need some new fitness jackets, so I’ll have to check that out.

I used to work at Athleta and I love all of their clothing! Their return policy is the best: you can return an item at any time for any reason with no hassle! There’s no fear of spending a ton of $$ on a piece of clothing and it not holding up in a workout because if it doesn’t work for you, you can bring it back even after you’ve worn it! And they hem for free in store. I miss my employee discount though 🙁

The bridesmaid gift is super cute. My bestie just asked all of us in a similar way (I have posted the card on my instagram), as well as a ring pop. So much fun!
Also, amazing update about your Mom. It goes hand in hand with October being Breast Cancer Awareness month.
I just wrote an entire post about my “October Faves” 🙂 Enjoy your time with your grandmothers!

I LOVE that jacket! That color looks awesome on you! I am always on the lookout for great new workout gear and this one looks pretty great! Although it’s going to be 80 this weekend in SoCal, I need to stock up on some long sleeve running shirts for when it actually does get chilly..A girl can dream..

I love unique ways to ask for help with weddings!
I was ages before I settled on these for our wedding… http://www.ahealthiermoo.com/index.php/2013/06/30/will-you-be-my-bridesmaid Which I got from an idea on Pinterest.
I then carried on with the theme and asked my Witness to take part in our wedding in a similar manner…

Five years cancer free is great news. My Mum is currently undergoing chemotherapy for her cancer and I cannot wait until it is our ‘five year cancer free’ party! 🙂 Spend every chance you get with her, just because you can.

And I’m also terrible at choreographed dancing and uh…dancing in general? So those kinds of DVDs are sooo intimidating to me! But it’s good to hear that Solibeat is doable.
