Today I was in the mood for a salad and I dug into my neglected bowl of veggies with excitement this afternoon.
Today’s salad included:
- Butter lettuce
- Honey ham
- Grape tomatoes
- Carrots
- Cucumber
- Bell peppers
- Honey mustard dressing
It was a good one!
Things You Could Talk About for Hours
This morning at work I was talking with one of my coworkers about our dogs. We were both filling our water bottles and ended up standing by the water cooler for a while laughing at random stories about the crazy animals in our lives.
When I sat back down at my desk, I began thinking about all of the things in the world that I feel like I could talk with someone about for hours:
- Dogs (vizslas in particular)
- Blogging
- Cooking and baking
- Weddings
- Celebrities (My heart skips a beat when I see a new issue of US Weekly on the magazine rack at my gym)
- Fitness
- Travel
- Old episodes of Friends
- North Carolina and my desire to live there
- Food (specifically dessert)
- Body image and self worth
- The future and personal goals
Then I thought about the topics that bore me to tears within two minutes:
- Finance
- Web coding
- Insurance
Questions of the Day
- What is one thing you could talk about for hours?
- What is one topic that bores you to tears within two minutes?
P.S. The Fashion page was updated today!
Sex!!! (is that weird)?
By really….I could chat away, and we’d both probably learn something new! 😉
Old episodes of Friends FOR SURE. I reference Friends at least 5 times a week and get super annoyed when the people around me don’t understand what I’m talking about 😉 Thank goodness I have friends who are as equally obsessed with the show as I am or I’d be in major trouble.
Oh come live in NC! I love it here!
I could talk to people for hours about food, books, a television show, playing the guitar, and so much more.
What bores me to tears though is when someone is trying to teach me something I could care less about which always depends on my mood. One day I could love to listen to my dad go on and on about engineering, but another day I would rather stab needles in my eyes.
I could talk forever about fitness!
I could care less about people’s dogs or cats, most sports, and politics. Just to name a few.
I could basically agree with you on every single thing that you could talk about for hours AND the things that bore you to death! With the exception that I love love love People magazine, the Kardashians (I know, I know), frozen yogurt, and my dreams to retire in Laguna Beach, California…. even though I’m only 23!
Talk about for hours: TV shows, pregnancy, childbirth, kids, running, college (really things I did in college)
Bores me to tears: Sports teams. My eyes glaze over when hubby starts talking about the Magic or FSU team sports
Is that honey mustard dressing homemade? I’m always on the hunt for the PERFECT HM dressing. If it is, can you share your recipe? Thanks!
Wow, your list matches mine exactly…with the replacement of “dogs” with “cats.” Ok, well maybe addition and not replacement. Anything cute and cuddly will do. Ok, and maybe N. Carolina isn’t on my list…but only because I dont’ know anything about it. But Friends…geez, i watch the reruns every night and it’s the only show guaranteed to make me laugh out loud even when I’m by myself 🙂
I agree with most of your list. 🙂 With travel, I feel like it’s especially true of a place me and the other person have both been to. It’s so fun to compare facts with someone else who has traveled to the same place!
Competitive swimming and New York state are two more for me. 🙂
I agree with so many of your things you could talk about for hours! These days, I could talk about my blog and food for hours. especially SMOOTHIES!
FINANCE bores me to tears. Sadly, I do PR for a bank. Must change this 🙂
i live in north carolina…just a note: do NOT move anywhere near charlotte…traffic is atrocious and roads are a disaster.
come to winston salem!
I can talk about food, travels, nutrition, and tv shows for hours! But bring up politics and I’ll space out within a couple seconds.
I could talk about my son for hours… And shopping 🙂 Please share the recipe for the HM dressing. I love how your salad is more veggies
my husband’s in finance and i try so hard to listen and understand what he’s talking about…but man it’s boring! haha
I could totally talk about music or the psychology and myths/facts of eating disorders/recovery/body image for a loooong time.
i get pretty bored about financial stuff, which is probably not good since that’s the field i work in! oops.
Yes to all the things you could talk about for hours. And I’ve lived in NC (in several different areas) for my entire life so I’m practically a certified NC tour guide. 🙂
I could talk about dogs forever! Also, food, I could talk about that until I turned blue in the face. There’s a reason why I’m going to culinary school!
I can talk forever about animals, fashion, food, celebrity gossip, good books, what I would do if I won the lottery.
I hate talking about politics (politics is interesting, I just hate talking about it with people), graphic medical problems, and sports. I reeeeally hate hearing about football games and people in the south seem to love that topic.
I’m the same on talking about Friends episodes.
I’m surprised on how many readers don’t like talking about finances! I love talking about finance – and not personal finance (although I don’t mind that) but topics like the markets, securities, corporate finance, derivates, etc. I watch CNBC all day.
Come on ladies, men shouldn’t be the only ones capitalizing on market information!
I could talk about running for hours! I love it!
History bores me. Isn’t that awful? And I agree with you on web coding and insurance.
I love that you said friends…I find myself relating almost every situation in my day to day life to an episode of friends…I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been like “one time pheobe said” or “that one where ross…” not the same when the other person isn’t ridiculously obsessed too…
I could talk about running and fitness forever but can’t stand talking about cars or boxing for more than a minute.
Hmm..I could talk about Boston restaurants all the day long. 🙂
I love my husband, but it bores me sometimes when he talks about insulation. *sigh*
I just had to tell you, I saw my very first vizsla yesterday! I always love looking at pictures of Sadie, and while I was familiar with the breed, had never seen one in real life! Yesterday I went to pick up my dog from the groomers (which is also the same location as a doggy daycare), and while I was paying for my dogs haircut, a vizsla came into the daycare area as she was getting picked up from her day of daycare. I have never seen a more energetic and excited dog in my life! She was leaping around at her owner and me as well and was so so so happy and joyful!!
I immediately thought of you and Sadie and had to tell you!
awww! how fun!
We sound like two peas in a pod! The things I drone on about are health, cooking/healthy eating, fitness, flossing (I am a dental hygienist, ok?- so at least 1x per day!), celebrities (I live in the OC so I sometimes get to see them- whee!), movies, books, restaurants (mainly the food at them), whatever is in People magazine currently, quoting episodes of Friends & The Office, and my husband!
Fortunately, my hubby is a finance guy, so he takes care of that responsibility, thank goodness! And my eyes definitely glaze over when he talks about work, but shhhh!
I could talk about my dog Apple (Boxer), shoes, clothes, hair, babies (i have MAJOR baby fever at the mo), my home country (North Wales), TWILIGHT SAGA & Rob Pattinson, Airplanes, Makeup, One Tree Hill & celebs.
What STOPS me from talking & puts me to sleep : Politics, Stock Market, Technology (my husband is a tech FREAK), people whining, Lord of the Rings, Workers Compensation Insurance…& i’m sure there are WAAAAAY more.
It’s official – we could talk for hours and hours!!
I love to talk about clothing/shopping, dogs, cooking, working out, fitness, TV, SATC/Friends – tons of girl shows, celebrities, concerts, traveling – the list goes on! I’m not a fan of talking about politics or random sports that I don’t play (i.e., volley ball).
Hi Julie,
I could talk about my 6 month old English Bulldog puppy for hours – and I wanted to write because I have a question about Sadie’s harness – did you get it special from anywhere like Etsy and would you be willing to tell me where? It looks like it doesn’t hook in the front – or maybe that’s my imagination?? Does it help with pulling and do you prefer it over a collar?
Thanks so much!
Mehnaz
we actually got her harness from petsmart! it’s the “easywalk” harness and it’s AMAZING! it’s been a lifesaver for us b/c she pulls so much and it greatly prevents that. it does hook in the front.
I could totally talk about my dogs for hours too! I could also talk about working out.. and my students for hours as well.. and a laundry list of other things..
i could talk about running, food, and celeb gossip forever! not gonna lie, for my bday my mom got me a subscription to US and every time that baby comes in the mail i feel like a little kid at xmas.
i try to avoid at all costs any talk about politics because i feel really out of my element and not fully informed and i’m certain i’ll only end up saying something stupid and making a fool of myself.
I too can talk about friends for a zillion hours. I could probably reinact every episode and play all the characters myself lol
I could talk for hours about losing 120lb, but more i can talk about how to make those fatty, unhealthy comfort foods into a healthy dish.
But really despise talking about Politics in a public spot…gets too heated….
I so agree – I could talk about Friends for hours! I make so many references on a daily basis to it.
I get bored when I’m with my boyfriend’s engineering friends – it just goes wayyy over my head.
I could talk about body image forever, but definitely not science/money!
1. i could talk about offensive jokes or music(any kind, im a non-performance major so i’ll groove anything at least once). the jokes thing is pretty immature, i know, but that doesnt mean i dont still think they’re hilarious.
2. i cant stand golf talk or anything about the movie “grease.”
Hahaa totally agree with the topics that bore you to tears!
Great list!
Talk about for hours: Movies, animals, running, books (Stephen King novels especially), history, healthy planet, wine.
Bore me to tears: My job, “shareholder value”, any conversation that sounds like someone trying to “keep up with the Joneses”, and any conversation where someone is trying to impress on others how important they are.
I could talk about the following all day long: baking/cooking, hockey, baseball, books, celebrities, people from high school and what they are doing now (it truly fascinates me where peoples lives take them).
Things that bore me to death: People who talk about vacations without showing me pictures, cars, and talk about snowboarding or skiing (all my friends are really into winter sports!)
I could talk about food (both healthy and not!) for days! You might say I’m a bit obsessed.
Politics, on the other hand, are not my cup of tea.
Oh my gosh I could talk about dogs all day!! I am lucky enough to work in an office where pets are allowed and can’t imagine not bringing my dog in with me everyday. You have no idea how fun it is to be in a boring meeting that is interrupted by a dog that has escaped from their office!
my list of things I could talk about for hours is very similar to yours! I hate talking politics, money, professional sports…I could maybe say 4 sentences on each topic there!
Food, exercise, health, Royal Wedding, blogging, travel, Friends episode, cooking, celeb gossip–> i could sit for days solely discussing these topics 🙂
I could talk about gymnastics endlessly as far as what bores me anything that isn’t gymnastics. Just kidding (sort of)
I could talk forever about:
*cats
*baking
*beer
*travel and various countries
I get bored with basically ANYTHING finance related, or politics – mainly just because I don’t know a lot about politics unfortunately.
P.S. I also hate talking about the royal wedding…sorry guys. I can get as far as “that dress is pretty” and then that’s it.
Me too!
I love my husband to pieces, but having to hear anything too in depth about his work as a drafter bores me to tears. As well as having to go to any place like Home Depot with him. I could totally talk about food/fitness and crazy things kids do for forever. I don’t even have my own kids yet, but my nieces and nephews (my best friend’s kids) are so much a part of my life I feel like I do!
I could talk food for hours and hours – recipes, drinks, new restaurants, food trucks, organic grocery stores, Trader Joe’s. I also like to talk about personal goals and with that, personal finance goals but like you, not just finance. I don’t like talking about sports history. That’s probably why I don’t get guys (or girls for that matter) who like to watch old sporting events like on ESPN retro or whatever it’s called. Really, what’s the point of re-watching an old game???
I love talking about my five year old (although Im sure others dont want to hear about his loose tooth haha)
I cant stand to talk about fiances, I dont get it at all!
I’m a travel writer for a living, so I’d have to say a) travel, b) all the countries I’ve visited (around 100) and, more so, b) all the places I’m still dying to go!
Ditto to hating finance and insurance topics–I know nothing about either!
I can talk about my dogs forever and what bores me in seconds is anything car related. My hubby is into showing his car and when he starts talking about the modifications he has or wants to do all I hear is ‘blah, blah, blah’.
