Three Years

October 30, 2013 by Julie 84 Comments

Today is our three year wedding anniversary!

Naturally we did what every married couple does on their anniversary and got together for a romantic lunch date… at Chipotle!

Ha!

After working through the morning, I showered at home before it was time for my follow-up appointment with my allergist. Everything went well (no crazy allergic reactions since we last met) and I left feeling quite hungry. Since Chipotle is located close to my allergist’s office and Ryan’s work, it made the perfect meeting spot for our lunch date and I wasted no time ordering a burrito bowl with brown rice, black and pinto beans, carnitas, chicken, salsa, peppers and onions. It filled me right up!

Once we were done eating, we took a quick side trip to TJMaxx to make a return. While we were there, I saw a pumpkin that was bigger than Sadie and almost bought it.

photo (1)

After sharing that picture on Instagram, I must admit that I love the fact that so many of you guys gave it a thumbs up and clearly have no boundaries when it comes to fall decor. No wonder we all get along so well.

Shortly after snapping that photo, I found the price tag and let’s just say even the most ritzy Maxxinista would have experienced some sticker shock. It was $70 which is about $68 too many for this girl. (In the pumpkin’s defense, it does light up.)

Now I am back at our house and need to put some finishing touches on Ryan’s anniversary gift before he gets home from work. Ryan seems pretty proud of the gift he got for me this year, so the pressure is on! We like to try to follow the anniversary gift themes, which means this year we should be getting each other leather gifts, but I am straying off course a bit.

See ya tomorrow, my friends!

Question of the Afternoon

  • Do you celebrate anniversaries?

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Happy anniversary! Time flies!! Your hair looks great! Are you using a new method of curling it?

I am! I am experimenting with a curling iron, but I am not using the clip. I’m basically wrapping my hair around the iron (away from my face), which essentially turns it into a curling wand, I guess. Still trying to get the hang of it because it isn’t holding for as long as I’d like!

You should try spraying your hair with hairspray and letting it dry for a few seconds before curling (if you’re not doing that already). I’ve found that can help hold the curl a little longer!

Maybe Ryan is getting you the pumpkin? Hehe I would be seriously proud of giving someone that gift.

My boyfriend always gets me jewelry which I love. One of my favourite things he got me is a ring that has an eternity symbol on it.

I love sticking to themes! My husband and I celebrate every dating anniversary and wedding anniversary! The first year (paper) I got him a framed copy of our vows. The second year (cotton) I got him a pillow with Mr. & Mrs. Est 6.25.11 on it. I think traditions are fun 🙂

And, by the way, I spent a ridiculous $40 on a ‘yoga dog’ from Pier One. I needed it, obviously.

Happy Anniversary! I can’t wait to hear what you guys got each other!

We’re almost always in Hawaii for our anniversary but the best was my husband surprised me with having chef Sam Choy cook for us. (He’s been on Food Network specials, Chopped, Challenge, etc but he has several restaurants in Hawaii, his own line of food, etc) We hit if off so well we still keep in touch and visit when we’re on the Big Island. He’s like our Hawaiian dad. LOL

So now I want to know what your “leatherish” gift is. Haha. I can’t wait to see what you got each other 😀

That pumpkin is totally cute. I agree that 70 dollars is a bit much though. Honestly while I love most things in TJ Maxx, I still feel like a lot of it is overpriced. I guess I’m just stingy.

    Yes, always celebrate anniversaries, always.

Best gift… well we’ve only celebrated 2 years so far but the first year anniversary is traditionally “paper” so that year, we purchased each other Pearl Jam tickets, and while we couldn’t make that happen again this year, we instead went to a different concert, I hope to make it a bit of a tradition, if touring schedules abide.

I love that pumpkin but that is a hefty price tag… and I would have NO WHERE to store it. 🙂
