Triplets

October 16, 2011 by Julie 54 Comments

As Ryan, my father-in-law and I headed to our separate closets to find something to wear for dinner last night, we laughed pretty hard when we all emerged in white shirts and jeans.

la cuisine ocala 008

Triplets!

Our matchy-matchy trio headed out to dinner at La Cuisine, a local French restaurant.

la cuisine ocala 009

Ryan’s dad selected the restaurant, saying he wanted to take us somewhere nice to celebrate our upcoming one-year wedding anniversary. How nice!

Once we were seated, we began our meal with a round of drinks (Riesling for me!), enjoyed with crusty French bread and butter.

When it came time to order our entrees, I was torn between the duck and the eggplant lasagna. Fortunately Ryan had his eye on the lasagna, so I opted for the duck and got to try a bit of both!

la cuisine ocala 003

This meal was hands down the best meal I’ve had in Ocala to date.

The duck was served with cornbread stuffing (<—the real reason I ordered it) and a cranberry glaze. It reminded me of gourmet Thanksgiving on a plate.

la cuisine ocala 005

The stuffing was unreal. I couldn’t get enough!

la cuisine ocala 004

The duck was cooked perfectly (I like pink!) and seasoned with the most delicious combination of spices. I ate nearly everything on my place except for the bites that were pure fat which I had wrapped up for Sadie.

We talked about ordering dessert at the restaurant, but decided to keep it classy and hit up a classic French ice cream shop on our way home.

la cuisine ocala 010

Ah yes, Dairy Queen!

I ordered a pumpkin pie blizzard (my first one ever!) and the flavor was spot-on.

Once we finished our ice cream, we headed home to see Sadie and feed her my leftover French fat.

la cuisine ocala 011

I swear she would’ve done anything for that fat!

la cuisine ocala 014

Now I’m waiting for everyone to wake up this morning. We have a very festive activity on the agenda for today and I can’t wait!

Oh how I miss DQ…I think I may have to get one that pumpkin pie blizzard when I go home for thanksgiving. I’ve never had one but that sounds amazing! Hope you have an awesome day Julie 🙂

I like when you randomly dress the same as people you’re with. It’s happened with my boss so many times, and with my boyfriend as well. You guys are just on the same wavelength!

I bet Sadie was the happiest dog in the world with that treat. That’s a good way to use up the whole meal!

I love that you can see how Sadie’s tail was wagging while she’s sitting waiting for that fat by the blurriness in the picture. Sometimes I think their tails are going to fall off they wag so hard when food is involved.

One of my roommates and I would always end up wearing the same color. It was kind of funny, we wouldn’t see each other in the mornings before we left for school, so it wasn’t til the afternoon when we both got home that we found out we were wearing matching outfits.

We always laugh at work because two of my trainers Tom and Melvinn always dress the same at work, but they don’t ever plan to. One day they went three days in a row wearing matching outfits from the shirts down to the shoes. Apparently on the fourth day Tom texted Melvinn that he was wearing a green shirt that day so they WOULDN’T match for a 4th day. What shirt was Melvinn ironing? Oh a green shirt of course. We were all hysterically laughing 🙂

Maybe I’m being overly cautious, but I’d be careful about feeding Sadie table scraps, particularly ones really high in fat because of the possibility of pancreatitis. Of course I’d ask your vet to confirm, but I know how much you love your dog so I thought you might like to know =)
