Wednesday In Numbers
- 2 lattes to start the day — One hot with foamy whole milk for me + One sans coffee with cold foamy whole milk for Rhett
- 2 activities before it’s time to leave for school before 8 a.m. — Picasso Tiles + “Dirt biking” (aka biking through grass and muddy puddles) outside
- 1 workout date with my friend Lauren at Burn Boot Camp while all the boys are at school — It was a biceps, triceps and chest workout and man oh man did this one burn! We went through each triple set at our own pace, completing as many sets as possible in 7 minutes before moving onto the next triple set.
- 89 dollars spent at ALDI during a mid-week grocery run — The bath bomb kits were an impulse buy I figured would make a good addition to birthday gifts for the boys’ friends. Buying birthday gifts ahead of time has saved me on more than one occasion!
- 30 minutes walking with Pepper before preschool pickup!
- 1 post-preschool park playdate — aka the best way to kill the awkward 90 minutes between preschool and elementary school pickups
- 1 huge hug for big brother at elementary school pickup — Chase is not typically a big hugger but on the way home from school he said the big hug Rhett gave him at pickup was the best part of his day. Happy heartache all over again, my friends.
- 1 brother bike wash to clean up their bikes from their morning dirt biking session in the yard — Yes, yes I did morph this into a car wash for Mom, too.
- 3 melty bead creations (a trout, a gecko and Rudolph!) — One of our favorite wind down activities at the end of the day
- 2 loads of laundry folded, sorted and put away — Laundry is a household chore I actually semi-enjoy because I use laundry time to stream audiobooks. I’m almost done with The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue and I hate to say it but this one is dragging for me. I wonder if my expectations were too high because SO many people love it or if maybe it’s not the best book to listen to versus read? Anyone else struggle through this one?
- 5 books read with the boys before bed — I read three stories from Daniel Tiger’s 5 Minute Stories for Rhett before his bedtime (it’s his current obsession — he always asks for “Daniel Tiggy Tigg” stories), one non-fiction animal book with all the boys and then the big kids curled up in our bed after Rhett was asleep and we read an entire Owl Diaries book. Pepper clearly wanted in on the action.
- 1 evening blogging session for me after all the boys are in bed. Ryan just called and said he will be arriving home soon so I’m off to hang with him, read for a bit and then call it a day. Good night my friends!

It also took me so long to get through The Secret Life of Addie LaRue! I was definitely ready to move on once I finished it; I like the premise, though.

Hi! I believe I’ve asked this before; so sorry for being annoying 😬… But where did you get Rhett’s shorts? I struggle to find my son shorter shorts and I prefer them over the longer ones. Thanks, so much!
And I wish I had your energy. It’s inspiring. 🙂

Childhoods Clothing! Now is prob a good time to look for end of season sales! I just ordered the next size up in their shorts for the boys for next summer over Labor Day weekend because everything was on super sale!

Addie LaRue dragged for me too, and I listened as well. I loved the premise, the beginning, and the end but the middle was just too much!! And at the last minute I couldn’t make our book club discussion about it either, which felt like I missed out on the reward of powering through it!!

I just finished Addie LaRue for book club and it dragged for me also. I picked it because I had heard great things but I really thought it could have been 100 pages shorter. I also wish a lot of the flashback parts had been centered on current events instead of almost always being an anniversary.
Julie says
Yes!!! I think the historical fiction aspect of the book is so interesting and feel like that definitely could have been expanded on for the better!

I read this book and also felt it was 100 pages too long, so it’s not just the audiobook, it’s the book itself! Could have used a good chop on the editing block! 😅
Valerie says
God your busy! I’m exhausted just reading this! Lol!

The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue was a DNF for me! It started so strong, then stalled hard for me. This year I’ve finally let myself “quit” books I’m not enjoying!
Elisabeth says
Guess I’m in the minority here because I couldn’t read Addie Larue fast enough! 😂
Lindsay says
What is your secret for perfectly ironing the melty beads?!? Ours never turn out that well!
Shannon says
As a mom of a child who reads and younger ones who do not read, how do you balance having Chase do his nightly reading with the others? We have a first grader so this is our first year with “reading homework” and have not hit our stride yet with balancing this. Thanks for any input you have!
