World of Difference

June 12, 2013 by Julie 43 Comments

Hey, hey!

It’s amazing how fabulous sleeping in until 6:15 a.m. can feel when your body is used to waking up at 4:20 a.m. What a world of difference!

Since I didn’t have to work the early shift this morning, I slept a little longer than usual and woke up feeling like new.

After brushing my teeth and letting Sadie out, I walked into the kitchen to make breakfast.

scrambled eggs with turkey bacon

On the menu for today was a delicious batch of scrambled eggs prepared with turkey bacon, spinach and mozzarella cheese.

Warms the soul!

With breakfast in my belly, I headed out the door to a local coffee shop to work on a freelance project this morning. Guess who walked in to grab a cup of coffee while I was working away? The police officer who looks like James Marsden who pulled me over a year or so ago. Awesome.

I was able to get a solid 90 minutes of work done at the coffee shop before I started working on this blog post, which felt great. Hooray for a productive morning!

I’ll be packing up soon to head off to the gym for a morning workout before I have to attend a brief meeting.

Isn’t it kinda cool how quickly our bodies adjust to new schedules? I have never been one to sleep tell noon but I used to sleep tell 9 with no problem and now I am wide awake by 6:30 without an alarm.

It’s funny how our bodies adapt to new schedules, but it totally feels a little more satisfying when you can sleep in just an extra bit.
I remember working early and on the weekends even an extra hour makes a huge difference in my days.
Glad you got a productive morning in while you had your morning free, that always feels amazing.

Oh i know what you mean- granted I get up at 5:30 to workout, not 4-something, but on my off day sleeping til 6:35 feels like heaven. actually the thing is, i tend to wake up at 5:30 automatically now anyways, but staying in bed til 6:35 is very nice 🙂

Ok weird question but, you brush your teeth “before” breakfast? I’m french so maybe it’s common in american but sounds weird to me lol

Haha! Thought the exact same thing when I read this post. I’m American and I always brush my teeth AFTER breakfast. It’s probably just personal preference. 🙂

I couldn’t imagine getting up at 4.15am but can understand once you get used to a wake up time how nice it is to sleep past it.

Sounds like you had a very productive morning already 🙂

For me, 8 hours of sleep doesn’t feel the same when waking up at 5am versus 8am 😉 my favorite thing is when my body wakes up a minute before I hear the dreaded alarm clock ring!

I’m a morning person and usually have no trouble getting myself out of bed at around 5 or 5:30, but I definitely notice a huge difference in my mood and overall energy levels when I get a good sleep vs when I’m tossing and turning or going to bed too late… which is why sometimes only a nap will help 🙂

I have NEVER been a morning person, however, having a baby can change that a little bit for you. I was always one who could sleep until 10am without even moving, but now, even if my Rylnn isn’t awake yet, I will be awake and not able to go back to sleep at 7am. Craziness…

I love mornings like that! Which don’t happen too often around here. And its crazy to know that certain police are around us still, because back in high school I had a terrible tummy ache and drove past a stop sign near high school and got a ticket! Guesss what. That same officer still gives the same ticket to students and people I know in that same area. 0_0 ha!

It’s amazing what a couple extra hours of sleep can do, eh? I feel ya on that one! Yesterday I was up at 4 AM with the babe and for whatever reason, I couldn’t get back to sleep after he went back to sleep. This morning I woke up at 7 AM (his dad took care of the early morning feeding), and I feel like a new woman!

Waking up in the 4am hour must be so rough! There’s no way I can go to bed any earlier than 10ish so I would end up losing a good amount of sleep. I can’t fall asleep when it’s still light out!

Man, sometimes nothing feels better than being able to go to bed WITHOUT setting the alarm! It doesn’t even matter that I more often than not end up getting up almost as early as I do with my alarm, but the very act of being able to NOT set my alarm because it doesn’t *really* matter is just…very relaxing. Glad you were able to get so much done today, there are few things as satisfying as a truly productive day 🙂

I find sometimes it’s the difference between waking up on your own or with an alarm clock. If I wake up at 6:30 because I naturally woke up, I feel way more energized than when my alarm wakes me up. Maybe it’s just my own mentality though?

I don’t often like to sleep in too much because I feel like I lose my day but I was so tired this weekend from a long week at work that I slept until 7:30 on Sunday (that IS sleeping in for me)! It was amazing and I felt refreshed and ready to tackle the day!

If I saw a cop that looked like James Mardsen I think I would run outside and do something semi-illegal so he would have to come and speak with me. Of course, I don’t want to do anything to get myself into real trouble.

I wake up at 3:30 am for my job….yes, you read that right. 3:30 am. It is BRUTAL. Luckily, I won’t have to do it anymore after next Friday! 🙂 But waking up that early makes getting up other days easy peasy. Amazing to me how 6 am, or even 5:30 am used to seem like a nightmare, and now I get excited when I can wake up anytime after 5 am. When i am able to wake up at a ‘normal’ time every day my body is going to be so thrown off!

I feel like it is easier to adjust to waking up later, but if you want to adjust to getting up earlier it’s harder and takes longer to adjust.
