You Do You

March 31, 2011 by Julie 71 Comments

I really don’t mind rain. Maybe it’s because I was born in the typically wet month of April, but dreary days make me feel warm and cozy inside. (Plus, I get to sing my favorite rainy day song!)

I do have one dreary-day caveat though. It must rain for me to get the cozy feeling.  If it’s simply gray outside, then the day is just dumpy and I want my sunshine back!

Today is a wet day in Orlando, which makes it the perfect day for watching a movie on the couch… or, you know, working behind a desk. 😉

Early this afternoon after crossing a few things off my ever-increasing to do list, I broke for a quick lunch.

Thursday Lunch

On the menu for today was a toasted cinnamon raisin bagelwich, prepared with melted muenster cheese and thin slices of apple and pear. (I ate the rest of the pear last night and polished off the apple as I toasted the bagel thin in the break room.)

Cheese + Fruit

Check Out All That CHEESE!

Cheeeeeeese!

On the side of my bagelwich I enjoyed fresh snow peas which made me instantly crave stir fried goodness. Maybe dinner will include some kind of creation made with soy sauce?

Quote of the Day

I just had to share this quote with you guys. It reminded me a bit about what I said in my post about The Comparison Trap. (Thanks to my friend Cherayne for finding this quote!)

“Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.”  – Steve Jobs

This quote further reiterated to me the importance of being yourself and following your heart. Don’t bother wishing that you had the good fortune or good looks of someone else when you are already fantastic just as you are. In the epic words of my favorite Jersey Shore boys, “You do you,” and don’t worry about the thoughts and opinions of others. In the end, it’s how you view yourself that matters most. Hallelujah, amen! 😀

P.S. The Fashion page was updated this afternoon!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I COMPLETELY agree, Stefanie! In fact, I’ve done this… and i’m proof that as time plays out, things are just meant to be. It’s scary not knowing the future, but it’s frustrating if all you try to do is control it. Just live and and let it be, day by day!

I absolutely love that quote! As a teacher (student teaching now!) I’m always looking for great quotes/sayings to share with my students. Middle school is a hard time as they’re all changing like crazy, and this quote is a great reminder for us all to be confident with who we are-amazing individuals! Thanks! : )

I’ve never watched “Jersey Shore” but I love that–“you do you!” Quotes like that one from Steve Jobs are inspiring and great reminders to work hard to avoid the comparison trap. I also love the line from Sting’s song Englishman in New York when he sings “be yourself no matter what they say.” Thanks for sharing!

One of my favorite quotes is, “Your life is right on schedule.” I even printed it in cool lettering and framed it. Hangs on my kitchen wall right beside, “Everything is going to be alright.”

This one is really great, too! Love how quotes can bring things back into focus like that.
