Ready to Run

March 11, 2010 by Julie 19 Comments

I walked half way to the gym this morning before I turned to Ryan and told him I was heading back home to leash Sadie up for a run outside instead of a cardio workout at the gym.

I initially planned to have a nice, easy elliptical session today because I didn’t want to run two days before my 10k race on Saturday, but the wonderful temperatures outside were calling to me! I decided to run at a nice, easy pace. Sadie was beyond excited when I returned home not even a minute after leaving.

Ready to Run!

To quote the Dixie Chicks, Sadie was “Ready to Run!” We ran five miles at an easy pace, stopping several times for potty and smell breaks (for Sadie, not for me 😉 ).

We ran a couple loops around a lake by my apartment and every time we passed this one white dog, she would lay down waiting for us to run by. When we were done with our run and were walking a cool-down lap around the lake, I talked to the dog’s owner who said her dog always lays down anytime another dog passes by. It was so adorable… and the complete opposite of Sadie who immediately wants to be best friends with every dog (and person) she meets.

How does your pet react to other animals?

When we arrived home, Sadie got a treat for a run well done. 🙂

Post-Run Snack

Of course I still made her work for it. 😉

(Do you like Sadie’s Greek yogurt streak above her nose? She got to lick the cup from my breakfast. 🙂 )

Breakfast

Breakfast was faaaaantastic.

I combined thawed frozen strawberries, barley and Chobani Greek yogurt with a bit of sweetener for  a yummy breakfast bowl.

I stirred it up and enjoyed it along with a hot cup of Bigelow eggnog’n tea (which isn’t too amazing, by the way).

Thursday's Breakfast

Oh my gosh, I just realized it’s Thursday!!! Hooray for Friday tomorrow. I love weekends and it’ll be here before ya know it!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Our male dog wants to be best friends with everyone (human, dog, whatever) he meets, but our female dog is quite the alpha and can be pretty aggressive. Such different dogs!

I’d love to try running with my dog…that is a goal of mine for spring!

My dog gets upset if she passes a person or dog and they don’t pay attention to her. she’s such a princess, she wants everyone to hold her and pet her. It’s cute, though!

I have 2 giant dogs. A labradoodle, who is so super sweet and works well with other animals and people, and then I have a ginormous goldendoodle who is, to say the least, a psychopath! lol. He is SUPER protective of us and he does not react well at all to to other animals or people, unless he knows you. But once he gets to know you, he has to have constant attention. He wants you touching him at all times. He also thinks he weighs 5lbs and will jump on your lap in .5 seconds. He actuall weighs 90+ lbs!

Our dogs are the same! Even though they are big (lab and golden retreiver) that are NOT guard dogs. They’d let anyone in our house, as long as they get petted.

Actually, I have always thought, its the little breeds that are more mean!

I used to try and run with my old dog, but she never got the hang of it, she would either spring ahead of me or try and eat my feet. Sadie is a good running partner.
