Like Mother, Like Puppy Daughter

December 7, 2010 by Julie 28 Comments

Yes, I am a big baby in the cold weather.

But guess who else is?

"I'm not comin' out there, crazy lady."

Sadie sat in the door frame as I hobbled around outside taking pictures of my breakfast this morning. (Gotta take advantage of natural light!)

She usually runs outside, sniffing around our backyard and terrorizing squirrels (something I 100 percent support) while I photograph my meals.

Not today.

Today she watched me from the door frame, debating whether or not to step outside, but ultimately deciding that the warmth from inside was much more enticing.

I braved the cold, but fortunately had a toasty breakfast to warm me up.

Breakfast Bagel

Breakfast included a toasted sweet wheat Alternative Bagel, topped with peanut butter and pecan pumpkin butter that I nabbed from Williams-Sonoma a couple of weeks ago.

Toasty, Peanut Buttery, Pumpkiny

Recognize my retro Christmas plates? 😉

Pecan Pumpkin Butter

PB + PPB

If you are a bagel lover but aren’t a fan of the oversize and often calorie-dense options typically found in grocery stores, I highly recommend Alternative Bagels. They’re substantial enough to really satisfy a bagel craving and one of the sweet wheat bagels has seven grams of protein! I find them in the bakery section of my local grocery store (Publix).

The toasty bagel really helped warm up my belly!

I was pretty cold after a one-mile walk with Sadie. I left the gym sweaty (30 minutes on the arc trainer + 20 minutes on the ellipical), but walking a mile with the pup allowed all of my sweat to dry and had me feeling even colder than before!

Thank goodness for a warm bagel breakfast! 😀

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Aw poor Sadie…so far (day 2 of viszla puppy ownership) little Rush is not a fan of snow at all. He’s so pitiful when I take him out to do his business–although he doesn’t waste any time! I can’t wait till he’s bigger so we can go for walks, because my other dog looooooves the snow.

Heard you’re getting cold weather in Florida … glad it’s still decent here in northern Arizona.

Sadie is so cute in that sweater!

So far our dog has fully embraced the cold. Not bad for a South Carolina girl. I’m interested to see how she responds to snow, though.

Looks like Sadie could keep warm right where she is basking in the sun with her sweater. Keep warm and bundle up!

This comment just gave me the BEST idea for a gift for Ryan for Christmas… Matching sweaters for him & Sadie… think “How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.” He’ll die. LOVE it. Thanks for the idea, Tracey!

Looks yummy!!!! Where I live, we don’t have those bagels. Are there any other brands that make thin bagels?

thomas’ makes bagel thins, but they’re really thin. i love the alternative bagels b/c they’re still thick and have a more bagel-like quality. i’m not sure of any other brands, but if i find any, i’ll follow up with you!

Sadie is so cute. I just had sweatshirts made for my boyfriend and myself with our dog on it (for xmas presents). You can see it here: http://www.cafepress.com/+custom_hooded_sweatshirt,493145527

It certainly was cold here too, 10 degrees this morning with wind chills below zero! I was all wrapped up in Uggs and a down coat!

I just picked up a new christmas sweater for my pup! I may or may not have also picked up some light up antlers for her as well (not sure if she will keep them on though haha)

I tried to put a Carolina sweater on my doxie for game day and wiggled out of it. He did not like something foreign on his back. I wish he would wear a cute sweater like Sadie!

I think the “I’m not comin’ out there, crazy lady.” was before you bought him dog sweaters. The one he wears should keep him warm, maybe some boots an he can run free in winter:))
