Butts Up

January 24, 2011 by Julie 49 Comments

Did you ever play Butts Up as a kid?

Since both of my parents worked as I was growing up, my sister and I attended an after-school childcare program through elementary school. Butts Up was one of my all-time favorite games!

This morning, I think the swans out by Lake Eola were playing their own rendition of Butts Up.

Butts Up!

Sadie was quite intrigued by the inverted birds on our morning walk.

"Check Out Those Buns!"

Apparently she’s a butt-lover just like her daddy. 😉

Catching Fire + Workout

We went on our walk after working out at the gym. I was so not in the mood to go to the gym this morning because I didn’t sleep well last night.  Ryan and I finished reading Catching Fire and started the third book in the Hunger Games series, Mockingjay. We left off at a pretty intense point which had my mind racing throughout the night.

For those of you curious about my take on Catching Fire, I really liked it!

Catching Fire

I was taken by surprise a lot more in the second book than I was in the first book. Both were suspenseful, riveting and definite page-turners. To me, Catching Fire seemed like an interim book and concludes in an unsatisfying way. If you read this book, make sure to have the next one from the series on had to begin immediately because there are a lot of loose ends that still need to be tied up. Hopefully Mockingjay will do just that!

Anyway, after a restless sleep, I wasn’t feeling overly motivated this morning. I laid in bed and told myself I would feel much better after a workout even if I struggled to get myself to the gym.

I was right!

After a BodyPump class and 10 minutes on the elliptical, I felt refreshed and ready for the day. It never fails!

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning was my favorite breakfast of 2011…

Open-Faced Bagelwich

Toasted cinnamon raisin bagel thin + Melted Muenster cheese + Fried egg white

Gooey Cheese

With cheese this gooey, how could this meal not taste great?

All Ready to Go

Biiiite

Breakfasts this good make me excited…

Woo!

Maybe a little too excited?

I just started reading Hunger Games this weekend and LOVE it. I’m in the last section and am dying to pick it back up – unfortunately I don’t think my company would appreciate me reading during work hours. 🙁

What on earth is butts up!?

We always used to play butts up after soccer practice when I was younger…I swear we played one time in high school and I got nailed with the ball so hard that I had a ball mark on my butt for days! I think that game is only fun when you are the one doing the kicking.

A lot of times when I don’t get enough rest and try to workout, I feel even worse. I know that a lot of people feel better after workouts, including me, but only when I have the energy.

They should have them at your regular chain grocery store. A few different brands make them I think…but if not, maybe try ordering on Amazon?

First thing I thought of when I saw the pic of Sadie checking out the birdie butts was her birthday challenge. You know she digs some poultry!

Your breakfast sammie sounds delish! I forget about pairing cinnamon raisin with savory flavors. I once had a ham, cheese, and leek sandwich on cinnamon raisin bread that was to die for!
