Reptile Hike

October 6, 2012 by Julie 36 Comments

While we didn’t see many mammals on our late morning hike with Sadie, the reptiles were out and about!

We saw a bunch of turtles in the nearby spring, two tortoises and an itty bitty baby.

baby tortoise

This little baby was so awkward and clumsy. We watched it for a little while as it hobbled over twigs and sticks. So cute!

Ryan also helped a turtle to safety towards the end of our hike.

The turtle decided to sun itself in the middle of the road which seemed like a recipe for disaster to us. Keep it movin’, buddy!

Sadie had a blast on the hike and we had fun watching her sniff around and point at birds and squirrels. Half the fun of hiking is just watching Sadie! She’s in her element and is so amusing.

Soakin’ up the love!

Lunch

When we arrived home from our hike, I threw a frozen pizza in the oven to bake while we showered.

digiorno

It’s not delivery, it’s DiGiorno!

I am not sure I’ve ever had DiGiorno frozen pizza before, though I’ve certainly seen their commercials on television a bazillion times. A craving for frozen pizza hit at the grocery store this morning when Ryan and I saw this pizza on sale. Neither of us could remember the last time we had frozen pizza and once we saw that the box claimed this pizza had a garlic bread crust, we were sold.

The pizza was good, but not great. The crust was a little too thick for me, so the toppings got a little lost in the mix. While we both tasted the garlic in the crust, it wasn’t anything to write home about. It still tasted good, but it wasn’t my favorite.

Date night tonight!!!

The one thing that I remember about florida was all the frogs! I remember when we arrived, about 10pm we found the house just off the 192, and when we got out of the car their were frogs EVERYWHERE!!!

I tried that same pizza a few weeks back and was really disappointed. As much as I love pizza crust, that was too much.

I used to get frozen pizza from trader joe’s before I couldn’t eat gluten any more. I keep meaning to try Udi’s frozen pizza but I just haven’t yet! And I’m sure it’s so fun to watch Sadie, that’s got to be so exciting for her, all the things to smell!

Try O’Dough’s gluten-free pizza crust if stores near you carry it! I buy the four-pack of frozen squares! SO good.

Man, a frozen pizza sure does sound delicious right about now! Especially with these Florida thunderstorms and football on TV! 🙂

My favorite brands are Kashi or Publix Greenwise.

I LOVE frozen pizza, but I agree that sometimes the crust is too thick. I usually just get the store brand multigrain crust, plain cheese and add my own toppings.

I like Tonys frozen pizza!! But our new kick is to get the whole wheat pre made pizza crusts, the brand name escapes me, and add out own individual toppings! It gets my picky 3 year old to eat!!! He loves helping in the kitchen!!

Have you ever tried Publix frozen pizzas??! They’re so good… I actually prefer to buy the raw dough from Publix bakery and make my own but their frozen ones aren’t too shabby!

Gosh I can’t remember the last time I had frozen pizza! I used to eat them a lot actually, and my favorite, hands down are the Amy’s frozen pizzas. Their margarita pizza is soooo good and I actually prefer it to fresh pizza. With that said, her products aren’t cheap…but they certainly are delicious. 🙂

Call me crazy but I like the cheapo Tostono’s pizza. And not just because it’s budget friendly.

It’s a long story but I’m terrified of turtles. The one in the road would have been toast if I was watlking by. Sorry turtle!

I don’t eat frozen pizza anymore, but when I was little, I loved Tombstone. Something about the spices and crunchy crust. I wonder if it tastes the same all these years later?

You should get the Amy’s frozen pizzas. The pesto one is delicious and they are made with simple healthy ingredients too. They are pricy but worth it and they go on sale!

CPK has good frozen pizzas. I like the Kashi ones too. They are thin crust, but I like the ingredients they have, less chemicals too.

Do you know if there will be discounts for the other Zooma events? I live in MD close to where the Annapolis Zooma will be, but may also take a trip to Texas to run it with a good friend. Just curious. Thanks!

    Enjoy your date night!

It’s hard to find a good frozen pizza! I get some from the farmer’s market and freeze them for quick dinners. They’re 50% whole wheat, cracker-thin crust (just the way I like them), reasonably priced, and in a bunch of different varieties. Much better than anything I’ve ever found at the grocery store!

Oh my gosh! I love the turtles! I don’t get those on my hikes out here…in fact if I found a turtle I would assume it was a lost pet and probably catch it to find it a home.

Not a frozen pizza person at all. However, I was dumbfounded to enjoy the Tofurky frozen pizza (vegan). I am not sure there is one redeeming healthy thing about it, but in the right mood I totally enjoy it.
