Back to Life…

November 16, 2010 by Julie 18 Comments

Back to reality!

When the alarm went off this morning, it buzzed in the sounds of reality.

Taking several days off from the gym made me feel extra motivated this morning. My body was craving a good workout.

Ryan and I hit the gym a little after 6 a.m. and I completed a cardio hodgepodge workout that looked like this:

  • 10 min. stair master
  • 20 min. arc trainer
  • 20 min. elliptical

I followed my sweat session up with a one-mile walk with Sadie.

On our walk, I noticed a big, juicy grapefruit on the ground. Apparently in the hustle and bustle of wedding planning, I overlooked the fact that the grapefruit tree on our morning walk had begun to produce fruit.

I plucked a low lying grapefruit from the tree and hurried home, excited to try my first fresh grapefruit of the season.

Grapefruit

It was fantastic.

Though the grapefruits on the tree near our apartment are not pink, they still taste as sweet and juicy as the grapefruits from the grocery store.

Plus, they’re unbelievably fresh!

I ate the whole grapefruit alongside a peanut butter and pear sandwich.

Breakfast

I sprinkled the peanut butter and pear slices with nutmeg before inhaling the sandwich.

Pear + Nutmeg

It was a lovely breakfast and a great welcome back to reality.

Time to get crackin’ on my to-do list at work!

See ya fo’ lunch.

I love nutmeg — I can’t wait for some eggnog with a sprinkle of nutmeg on top — it is the best!

I hear you on “craving” workouts — exercise really keeps my energy levels up!

I’ve only had ruby red grapefruits, which I love. But I’m sure a fresh-picked one is even better.

Love do random cardio hodgepodge: it makes the cardio fly by especially when I’m feeling ridiculously ADD (which is most days).
