Breakfast Banana Split

February 28, 2011 by Julie 87 Comments

Okay, so no ice cream is involved. No hot fudge either. Or whipped cream. But doesn’t this kind of look like a banana split… breakfast style?

Breakfast Banana Split

Just agree, please. Don’t take this away from me! 😉

Git in Mah Belly!

I was quite a fan of this little creation and was surprised at just how filling the meal turned out to be.

In the mix:

  • 1 banana, sliced lengthwise
  • Chobani vanilla Greek yogurt
  • Freshly sliced strawberries
  • Sweet potato puffs cereal
  • Chia seeds

Another Split Pic

Fruit + Yog + Seeds + Cereal

I already have a bazillion different ideas about combinations to try to create various breakfast banana splits. I’m thinkin’ candied nuts, pumpkin, cottage cheese, oats… the possibilities are endless. Aren’t you pumped!? 😀

Workout

I enjoyed my breakfast after an early morning workout and a walk around the lake with Sadie.

My workout today included a BodyPump class (holy squat track!), followed by 20 minutes of light cardio on the elliptical. I spent my time on the elliptical watching recaps of the Academy Awards since I only watched some of the pre-show last night just to get a glimpse of the pretty dresses.

My favorites dresses included those worn by Mila Kunis:

Mila Kunis

Scarlett Johansson:

Scarlett Johansson

And Halle Berry:

I thought all of their dresses looked feminine and gorgeous, especially Mila Kunis’ gown. So, so whimsical and pretty.

Question of the Morning

  • Did you watch the Academy Awards? Who do you think was the “best dressed” of the evening?

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I thought Jennifer Hudson, Mandy Moore, Michelle Williams’ HAIR, and Mila Kunis were my favorites of the evening. Oh and I thought the girl from True Grit looked stunning.

I don’t watch award shows. Except for sometimes the MTV ones, because something outrageous usually happens. All of the other ones area really dull to me. And I really have no care for fashion whatsoever. Which is funny because I love your fashion page! Seeing a real woman putting things together is fun!

I think it’s the really expensive dresses and celebrity factor that makes me not care. Besides the fact that I always find 90% of their dresses ugly. I’m just not a fan of “high” fashion apparently!

That banana split looks fantastic! I’m thinkin’ my cereal of choice will be peanut butter puffins…I love the combo of PB &banana! 🙂

Anne Hathaway! Her voice rocked and Rachel Zoe dressed her so well. That dress at the beginning?! Gorgeous!

P.S. Can’t wait to try my own version of that split!

Your breakfast is most definitely a banana split. No question.

As for dresses, I agree with you totally but really liked Cate Blanchett’s the best! I just loved the risky architectural lines!

Mila and Scarlett’s were my favs too! I really wish they took the focus off only the women, then maybe guys would spice it up a little. I’m not a fan of tuxes, weird I know, so it would be nice to see something different for a change.

I always watch the Oscars, but I though Franco and Hathaway were a bit dull (silly ABC trying to get people my age watching, lol!). I thought Mila Kunis looked great, but my favorite was Hailee Steinfeld of True Grit. She’s adorable and age appropriate, which is pretty rare anymore 🙂

And your banana split looks de-lish!

I made a banana split-ish type dish with Chobani too! (accidentally) I put some homemade granola and banana slices in a cup of Vanilla Chobani and it tasted just as good as a banana split to me!

I loved Gwyneth Paltrow – I’ve had a slight girl crush on her since her appearance on Glee (even though she’s always been awesome – that just solidified it).

I thought Mila’s dress was gorgeous, and Jennifer Hudson looked great too. I think my fave was Amy Adams – the dark blue looked amazing with her red hair. I wish she’d won for best supporting actress!

Umm…LOVED Mila (she was hands down my favorite) and I was obsessing over Kate Blanchett’s dress. So different from anything I’ve ever seen on the red carpet but still gorgeous…she rocked it too – that hair was spot on. I’m not normally a lilac kind of person either -wierd. I loved Gwenyth too…that was incredible.
