Friday Mode

March 23, 2012 by Julie 89 Comments

It’s Friday which gives me an excuse for feeling all amped up and ready to play!

Do you ever have those days where you just know your productivity level will be at an all-time low? Your mind is going a mile a minute and zoning in on work is a little more difficult than usual?

unproductive

One of the great things about working from home is that I can publicly announce the days when I have a feeling that an inordinate amount of time will be spent on Pinterest or just generally avoiding things I actually should be doing. (I had some serious writer’s block going on when I tried to wrap up a freelance article this morning. Hoping that goes away soon!)

On days like this, I have a little trick. I make myself work uninterrupted for an hour and then give myself a 10-minute break to check my personal email or explore the internet in search of fantastic things like this…

titanic

Or this…

lava game

Please tell me you’ve played the lava game. Just a tip: Pillows may also be used to get from place to place. They also keep you safe from the lava.

Gosh, I’m guessing that by the beginning of this blog post, you can clearly see that I am definitely in Friday mode!

Workout

Today’s workout was “Workout C” from the Best Body Boot Camp program I’m following. It focused on upper body strength exercises with five minutes of cardio peppered in between supersets.

Breakfast

Today’s breakfast was as random as the beginning of this post.

It began with a banana “ice cream” smoothie…

banana smoothie

healthy banana smoothie

… And concluded with a small bowl of multi-grain peanut butter Cheerios with almond milk.

peanut butter cheerios

The company sent me the Cheerios to try (apparently they heard I have a bit of a soft spot for peanut butter?), and all I could think about as I’ve snacked my way through the box this week was how good these would be in marshmallow treats. Sprinkle some peanut butter M&Ms in the mix and ooooh baby.

Question of the Morning

  • Is anyone else in Friday mode?
  • Anything fun you’ve seen on the internet that I must look at as I avoid real work today?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I know today is a little to no work day! My basketball team won last night and now I will spend all day today in a frantic rush to try to obtain the new Keep Calm shirt before the game on Saturday! #GO SYRACUSE Priorities right? 🙂

Haha, I not only laughed out loud at the lava game quote but had to immediately post that on my older sister’s facebook wall. (Clearly I’m productive on this Friday too…)

I have Monday and Tuesday off from work from carry-over vacation days. I’m really feeling the Friday mode today!!!

haha love this! In addition to the lava game, we also played the shark game growing up…you know, where the couches are pirate ships and the floor is a shark-infested ocean? 😉

I love the Creative Process! Binge eating and random surfing the Internet (or mainly Pinterest and reading random blogs) are a huge problem for me!

Also loooved the lava game. Definitely played while watching the part of Fantasia with the volcanoes haha.

That smoothie looks so good! Yesterday was the first time I gave my twins PB on a spoon. We usually smear it on bread or in their oats, etc. My daughter LOVES the stuff; although who can blame her? She will scrape the PB off her oats and then ask for more for the rest of her oats. Anyways, we had to cut her off after two spoonfuls, as she asked for a third one. Made me think of you. 😉 Have a great weekend, Julie!

PEANUT BUTTER CHEERIOS…do they taste like PB?! I know you said that they’d be good in Rice Krispies, but are they worth springing for?

this is awesome. I totally am having one of those fridays… I knew it would be before I even got to my cube this morning. lucky for me, I didn’t bring too much food today, so my “binge eating” section is really just more random internet surfing… and because i’m at work, my napping is that blank stare you do where you look like you’re thinking hard about something, but your brain is really asleep 🙂 heh. Happy Friday!!

We play a get across the lava game at my gymnastics gym (where I coach at)! We use mats and if they fall off they have to start over at the end of the floor, and the goal is to get across without touching the lava 🙂 SOOO much funnn!

OH gosh I was cracking up over the reference to the jumping the sofa to avoid the lava! My cousin and I played that game alll the time during our childhood years. Sometimes instead of lava it was sharks. and yes you could use the pillow cushions to avoid falling in. Did you ever play “war” with those plastic green army men? Unfortunately growing up w/ a boy cousin we played lots of boy games. lol
