Stink Eye for Sadie

April 12, 2013 by Julie 133 Comments

Today is going to be one of those days that doesn’t slow down until I crawl into bed tonight.

It began nice and early… extra early, actually.

As you may know, Ryan and I let Sadie sleep in our bedroom at night. Okay, so she actually sleeps in our bed. This image should give you a good idea about our nighttime slumber:

Sleeping with a Dog

(Source)

That picture is one of my all-time favorite Pinterest finds because it is so true. Sadie likes to begin the night curled up in the tiniest little ball. By the time the morning rolls around, she ends up spread out with rigor mortis legs pushing into our sides. We are such suckers.

Vizsla Sleeping

Anyway, for the past two nights in a row, Sadie has hopped out of bed 20 minutes before our alarm was set to go off. Apparently she needed a 4:30 a.m. bathroom break.

Sadie usually sleeps through the night, so this was rather unusual. It is really hard to fall back asleep knowing you have to get up 20 minutes later, so Sadie got the stink eye from us all morning… which didn’t seem to faze her in the least.

Workout + Breakfast

Today’s workout rounded out week two of Best Body Boot Camp! Six weeks to go!

Once we were done at the gym, Ryan and I headed home for breakfast.

I made myself an egg scramble with chicken sausage, spinach, onion and feta cheese.

scrambled eggs with sausage and feta 030

So savory!

I’m off to blow dry my hair and head out to work for a new-hire orientation. Then it’s off to Orlando for bachelorette party time!!!!

Question of the Morning

  • If you have a pet, where does your pet sleep?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I can definitely relate! My gsp Lucy loves to hog the bed…rigamortis legs and all…haha “) Love that descriptor by the way! She too starts in a ball and then slowly takes over. She also has to get up in the middle of the night, as WELL as about an hour before we get up so its a real treat. Half the time she just wants to go outside to sniff…not even to go potty!! She also sighs really loud and lays next to the bed on the floor if I pretend like I didn’t hear her get up ! Haha such games we play!

I am the lightest sleeper in the world, so there’s no way I could handle having a pet in bed. I’ll often sleep in a separate room from my husband because he has a tendency to snore. And let’s just say I’m not the nicest person when I haven’t slept well!

Sounds like our bed, except we have a 70 lb. yellow lab. Oh the things we do with and for our pets.

Our two dogs sleep outside in their dog house together or we’ve set up a little dog pad in the shed for them, plus they have a little lounge type thing if it’s hot. I could never let a dog sleep with me, I’d feel too dirty. But my dogs have hair and they are scruffy. Sadie seems cleaner ha

I have a lab-pitbull mix and he does the exact same thing as Sadie! He curls up into a little ball… and then wakes up in the middle of the bed spread all over the place! And we thought buying him an expensive and huge dog bed would solve the problem.. not so much!

My dog has always slept in his crate since he was a pup. I’ve actually tried to get him to sleep next before and he prefers his crate! haha

My dog sleeps in the bed at night. Two weeks out of the month it’s perfect because my fiance is in Alaska working. The other two weeks out of the month when he’s home it is a VERY tight fit. Brink has perfect rigor mortis legs too!

Our little guy sleeps in his own bed at the foot of ours. But last night… oh, man! He kept moving around, nudging the bed, whining for no reason. I barely got any sleep! So yup, he got the stink eye, too! 🙂

My boyfriend HATES dogs in the bed. I guess the thought grosses him out. So our dog sleeps on his own dog bed right next to my side of the bed (so I can pet him while I sleep, ha). But when the BF is out of town or has to leave early in the morning for something, Indy hops right on up for some snuggling.

We don’t want to let our dog (beegle) sleep in our bed, but that cute thing is just too stubborn. He actually does only what he wants, so guess what? 🙂 Most of the time he crawls up somehow. At least he keeps staying at our feet which is a good thing. And he’s tiny. Tiny stubborn creature…

haha! Love this! Yup, our yellow lab mix, Oakley, loves to get in bed only when it is cold out and starts out small and my husband always says to push her out of the bed when she stretches out. But, I wake up before him and he is the one curled in the ball and Oakley is all stretched out! Totally relate!!

We aren’t allowed pets where we live. However my parents have a jack Russell that sleeps in the bed. If you try and get her out of the bed she growls at you and then gets snappy with her teeth and tries to give you little nips. We used to nickname her a little crockadile 🙂

Why have you slowed down posting? I’ve asked you before several times, but you never respond. Even bloggers who are “taking it slower” post more than you. This isn’t meant to be negative, I just can’t figure out why it seems like you’ve stopped caring about the blog? Ugh- that sounded mean but I can’t figure out another, more docile way of putting it. We hardly ever, ever see dinners any more and you don’t post hardly any photos of yourself anymore? Will we get an update as to why?

I agree with this! It’s really disappointing because I used to always look forward to reading, but it has changed so much and you don’t seem to want to put effort into the blog anymore. Not meant to be harsh, just sad for regular readers to see such inconsistency and change from what it was.

Yeah. I also second (third?) this, but I didn’t want to say anything in case it came out rude. I used to look forward to all the posts, and now it’s one (maybe two) a day that feature a picture of scrambled eggs and a couple lines about your workout. 🙁 Disappointing, because I feel that it’s our consistent readership that really allowed you to breakaway from writing about pharmaceuticals and pursue freelance writing. And now it’s like we’re left a little bit in the dust. I get that FT blogging can be exhausting, but I would just appreciate an update on why things changed. I truly enjoy your blog and am sad to see you post less.

there are actually a few things behind this (a desire to “unplug” more in my life, concentrating more on outside projects – freelance and pursuing personal training – as well as feeling protective over my personal life due to some stinging comments in the past, etc.), but i will definitely take your comments to heart. it has been almost a year since I dropped down to posting 2x a day, but i appreciate your comment about missing dinner posts, etc. and will take them to heart. i love sharing my life with all of you through the blog and appreciate the time you took to let me know what you’re missing and would like to see more of on PBF.

I remember when my sister FIRST got her dog 6 years ago. She had STRICK RULES not to allow him to sleep in her bed (or even get on any furniture)… Well as time went by, little by little the dog was allowed on an ottoman, then allowed on the couch… and then allowed on the bed and finally allowed UNDER THE COVERS! Ah ha ha! Well now the dog full blown sleeps between her and her husband… Talk about SEXY TIME! lol.

Bella sleeps in her bed, across from our bedroom and Faith sleeps in her crate (she isn’t 100% housetrained at night). When my husband is at the fire station, I try to get Bella to sleep in bed with me but she refuses. And Faith automatically runs to her crate when it’s time for bed. They both must know I like to hog the blankets!

My dog is a cuddler and she sleeps right beside me, sometimes with her nose tucked in under my arm because I am a side sleeper. Sometimes I wake up int he middle of the night sweating and then I realize it’s her beside me. She gives off so much heat, I didn’t need my heavy blanket during winters in Philly!
She doesn’t spread out like Sadie, but maybe as she gets older she will.

Our mini schnauzer is only 4 months old, so he is still sleeping in his bed in the kennel. Hopefully once he’s potty trained we will let him sleep in the bed. That picture of Sadie is hilarious!

Our 50 pound goldendoodle sleeps on the hardwood floor next to the bed. We actually like her to sleep in the bed with us (she is so snuggly!!) but she gets over heated really easily (long doodle hair) so she always hops down within an hour of going to bed. Today my friend and I were napping together (we work nights and nap at my house after church on Sundays) and Pippa slept in the bed the whole time because I just got her shaved down for the summer on Friday. She has viszla length hair now and is chilly!! I was pretty excited about it! I’m only slightly obsessed with my dog.

My dog sleeps in the bed, he gets 1/2 and usually ends up with about another part of my 1/2 even though he’s only a 30lb dog. I swear he’s an expert at stretching to the fullest extent. My male cat also sometimes sleeps in the room too, but that’s only when he can stay still long enough to sleep, usually it ends up being him pawing at the door wanting in, only to want out the minute I fall asleep, seems like it never fails.

As much as our pup would love to sleep with us, his bed is in the garage. Old Chum does think he’s a lapdog, though. He weighs over 80 pounds, but doesn’t mind climbing up into your lap for attention.

    P.S. That scramble looks delicious!
