The Desire to Sleep In

August 13, 2013 by Julie 55 Comments

Good morning!

It’s one heck of a sleepy Tuesday over here. After several days in a row of minimal sleep, I think my lack of sleep finally caught up with me this morning. Wedding weekends are always so fun, but they’re non-stop!

Ryan and I opted to sleep until 6:30 a.m. today and when the alarm went off, I rolled over and told him I could easily sleep for another three hours. As someone who typically cannot sleep past 7 a.m., I know my body needs to play catch up on some sleep. Hopefully I’ll be able to crawl into bed early tonight!

Breakfast

About 15 minutes after I woke up, I opened the fridge and dug into the overnight oats I prepped for myself last night.

IMG_0425

I made them with a bit of almond butter stirred into the mix for some added staying power.

Yum!

Now I’m off to work. I will be leading the beginner’s running group at our gym at 9 a.m. and after four days off from exercise, I’m ready to get moving!

Enjoy your Tuesday!

I’m planning a sleep in tomorrow and to do my workout after work. I’ve been and am still traveling for work all week with lots of long hours and also need some extra sleep and relax time 🙂

I couldn’t get out of bed today either! It’s pouring rain outside and very dark and dreary. It would be the perfect day to just stay home, lay in bed, watch movies/tv, bake and relax. Too bad I’m at work 😉

I’ve become a morning person as of recently, springing out of bed around 6am after 7 hours of sleep. But today I am exhausted and still lounging in bed. I know sleep will become a hot commodity as I transition into fall season and then holiday season.

I wanted to sleep in SO bad today! It’s raining and dreary here. The type of day where you just want to stay in bed and be lazy, but nope…had to get up for work! 🙁

I think it is weather here – if it weren’t for my hip hurting I could have stayed in bed FOREVER. The weather is gloomy and nasty here and I am trying to get the motivation to go out and run. Where is the sun!?

My body needs sleep too. Reasons different than yours, I often go on only 2 hours sleep most nights of the week. I’m a zombie and getting anything done is near impossible. Trying to be positive like you!

Your overnight oats look different this time. My issue with overnight oats is eating them ALL the night before – I am a heavy night eater. Admire your willpower 🙂

I’ve definitely been trying to catch up on sleep but can’t actually SLEEP IN! I’m off today but my eyes opened at 6:15 this morning and my stomach growled like it hasn’t eaten in days. I stayed in bed until almost 7 and then gave in to my hunger. haha!

I really struggle to sleep in too, but the first day of the Summer holidays (I’m a teacher) I decided that I would have ‘just another few minutes’ a long while past 7am! Sometimes your body just needs to re-coop. I prefer napping in the afternoon if I get tired though. There’s definitely something about getting so much done in the early morning.
