A Corner of England

November 26, 2011 by Julie 56 Comments

I’ve been all over the place today! Sarasota, England, St. Pete!

The day started in Sarasota with breakfast with my father-in-law, his girlfriend and two of their friends at the Toasted Mango.

I ordered a spinach and feta cheese wrap that was delicious and it did a great job of holding me over until we headed back to my parents’ house in St. Pete.

Early this afternoon, my sister, mom, grandma and I had plans that took us to A Corner of England for high tea.

High tea warrants fancy hats!

My mom booked the tea as a special treat for the girls to enjoy while my grandma is in town and we were all looking forward to sipping tea and eating little sandwiches and treats.

Plus chocolate cake!

The best part of the tea? The clotted cream that we spread onto the scones. That stuff is so darn good. I first fell in love with it in August 2010 when I had my first high tea experience with my mom and sister. Fantastic!

All of this running around has me feeling a little sleepy. I’m currently relaxing on the couch with Leslie, Ross and Ryan watching Dave Chappelle’s stand up comedy. We’re all pooped and hope relaxing for a bit will help us gain a bit of energy before dinner.

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

So fun! I’ve never had the clotted cream, but I have heard mixed things from people who never had it growing up. Some say amazing, some day disgusting….I’m going to have to go to England so I can weigh in!

Oh this reminds me of home way took much! 🙂 I used to love scones, with clotted cream and jam with tea. It brings out the Englishness in me. Me and my grandma always go somewhere for that when I go back to England to visit her.
I need to find somewhere like that in California!

Mmm I love high tea. I spent most of May in Scotland, and literally the first thing we did after dropping off our bags in our hostel in Glasgow was have high tea at the Willow Tea Room. While I was admittedly sleep deprived and jet lagged, I loved it. And clotted cream is ah-mazing. I’d love to do high tea again.
