A New Opportunity

September 30, 2010 by Julie 70 Comments

Yoga instructors are so wise.

They always seem to say something that resonates with me at the end of the class when I’m chillin’ in savasana.

Upright Savasana - Hi!!!

I headed over to yoga after warming up my legs a bit on the elliptical. I slipped off my shoes and got into the groove of the class very quickly. My body really needed the stretch from today’s class.

Before the class was dismissed, our yoga instructor imparted these wise words on our group:

“Everyday is a new opportunity to make new decisions.”

I think this statement is a powerful one and can give people renewed hope at the beginning of each day.

Maybe you said something hurtful to someone you cared about yesterday. Well, today you get a chance to rectify that situation and be kind and caring.

Maybe you ate 17 cookies yesterday (Hey, I’ve done it). Well, today you can hop back on the healthy living train.

Sometimes it’s easy for us to get caught up in bad decisions or unhealthy choices we make. Rather than beat yourself up over it, take the opportunity to change the situation at hand beginning with each new sunrise.

Go in peace, my friends. 😉

Breakfast

Okay, don’t go just yet!

We still have breakfast to cover!

Today’s meal was a pumpkiny mixture of protein goodness.

The Goods

Hmm… What to call it?

Pumpkin Protein Cheesecake Bowl!

To make this pumpkin cheesecakey thang, I combined the following using my fantastic new immersion blender (Thanks Aunt Barbara & Uncle Randall!):

  • 1/2 c. 1% Friendship no salt added cottage cheese (regular cottage cheese will work too)
  • 1/2 c. canned pumpkin
  • 2 tsp. pumpkin pie spice
  • 1 scoop All the Whey cup cake batter protein powder (you can use vanilla protein powder or omit this altogether)
  • Splash of milk
  • Dash of nutmeg

Thick 'n' Pumpkiny

Get in Close for the Good Stuff!

This mix was deeeelish and protein packed (more than 36 grams!).

Pumpkin Cheesecake Protein Bowl

This one will be made again soon, I assure you!

I also enjoyed a tumbler full of Barnie’s pumpkin spice coffee from my gym.

Guess what? I matched my tumbler yet again.

Too Matchy Matchy?

This is getting a little ridiculous.

And with that, it’s time to work!

Don’t forget to make this day a day full of new, positive decisions! 😀

Question of the Morning

What is one positive thing about your day today?

I’ll go first: I enjoyed a walk with a super-energetic dog who shows me everyday how happy we should feel to just be alive.
