Best Comedians

May 7, 2014 by Julie 115 Comments

Last night Ryan and I discovered stand up comedians on Netflix. I’m not sure what has taken us so long to realize you can easily stream tons of different stand up comedy routines, but I’m glad we are finally “in the know.”

We decided to watch Aziz Ansari’s “Buried Alive” and could not stop laughing.

Aziz Ansari

Neither Ryan nor I had ever seen his stand up before and agreed that we’d now absolutely love to see him live. His comments about marriage, babies and dating in the social media world had us cracking up for slightly more than an hour.

Watching Aziz Ansari last night sparked a conversation about our all-time favorite comedians. Here’s a short list of some of the comedians whose stand up routines make my stomach hurt from laughing so hard:

  • Ellen Degeneres “Here and Now”
  • Sinbad “Where You Been?”
  • Robin Williams “Live On Broadway”
  • Ron White “They Call Me Tater Salad”
  • Tim Allen “Live On Stage”
  • Dave Chappelle “Killin’ Them Softly”

I’ve actually seen Sinbad, Ron White and Robin Williams live and all were absolutely hysterical. (If you’re looking for comedians who are super funny but also clean, check out Sinbad and Ellen!)

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning began with a hot mug of coffee…

raspberry chocolate coffee

And ended with a freaky deaky green protein pancake!

Off to work!

Question of the Morning

  • Who are some of your favorite comedians?
  • What comedians have you seen live that you think have a “must see” stand up routine?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

Gabriel Inglesias better known as “Fluffy” is the funniest comedian I’ve ever seen. His live show is even better than his specials. I think you can watch one of his specials on Netflix too! I also like him because he keeps it pretty clean.

I rarely comment – but I read your blog daily. It is always fun! Anyways, I love Brian Reagan and Jim Gaffigan they are both hilarious without using a lot of fowl language or being crude. Me and my husband always listen to them when we are on road trips (and we don’t have to sensor them with small kids in the car)!

I love Sara Schaefer. She had her own live show on MTV for a couple of years and she is absolutely hilarious. Her sister happens to be the director at my daughter’s school, so each year, Sara comes to Flagstaff and does a benefit performance. It’s been fun to watch how the crowd has grown as she has become more well-known.

Aziz live is great! I saw Chelsea Perretti (Brooklyn 99) open up for Aziz a few years ago and she was pretty fantastic herself. I think the only other comedian I’ve seen live is Michael Ian Black. It was raunchier than I expected, but not in a bad way. I loved it.

John Mulaney “New in Town” is probably my favorite special other than Chapelle’s “Killin’ them Softly” which will ALWAYS be my favorite. (New in Town is on Netflix, check it out!) Donald Glover’s stand up is also pretty funny and Kat Williams’ “Pimp Chronicles” is up there as well.

The other thing you might like on Netflix is Mike Birbiglia’s “My Girlfriend’s Boyfriend.” It’s not a typical stand up special, more like a stand up/movie hybrid. I laughed and cried which is all you can ask for, right?

I didn’t know this about Netflix! I tend not to get into comedians because they’re never clean, but I do love Brian regan because he’s pretty clean! I don’t know much about the cleanliness of tig notaro as I’ve only seen two short clips of her and a couple of talk show interviews, but I rewatched her taylor Dane routine last night…hilarious! I don’t know if tig is on Netflix, but she’s easy enough to find on YouTube.

Have you seen Aziz on The Getaway on Esquire channel? I had never laughed SO hard in my life as he galavanted around Hong Kong.

I’m not sure if anyone else has mentioned this or not, but you can also listen to comedians on pandora. It plays snippets of their acts that are usually on netflix, but you get a wide variety. I’m a huge fan of all comedians, even the one’s that are not clean, but that’s just me. Favorites include: Louis CK, Aziz Ansari, John Mulaney, Amy Schumer (not clean at all, but she is so funny to me), and Kevin Hart.
