Drink More Water Mission

June 18, 2012 by Julie 69 Comments

I felt out of it all day today. I had a slight headache and attributed it to my lack of water consumption over the weekend.

I find it much easier to drink a lot of water during the workweek when I’m sitting at my desk and consciously refilling my water cup.

Over the weekends my water consumption tends to go way down. I must change this!

Today I went on a “Drink More Water Mission” and thankfully my headache finally dissipated a bit after dinner. I also bought a lemon and cucumber at the grocery store this evening that I plan to add to my water during the week to give it a little extra punch of flavor.

Water = Winner

Dinner

Tonight’s dinner was loosely inspired by my ham and tomato sandwich from yesterday’s lunch.

I made a BLT, but made it with turkey bacon and spinach instead of the traditional bacon and lettuce. I also added muenster cheese and light mayo to the sandwich and served it with a side of roasted broccoli and cauliflower.

I have a feeling this exact meal may pop up again for lunch tomorrow. It was great!

Off to change into my pajamas, fold some laundry, brush my teeth and park my booty on the couch for The Bachelorette tonight. See you in the morning!

Make a big pitcher of ice water and let lime and orange slices sit in it for half a day. Sooooo good that way. Makes you want to keep drinking it! Plus, then you don’t have to squeeze fruit in every cup. 🙂

The only way I can make myself drink more water on weekends is if I continue to carry around my water bottle with me at all times. I had purchased one with a straw a few months ago and it makes me drink SO much! It sits with me on my desk all day long and on weekends I make sure it’s always filled and with me if we’re out or hanging out at home.

I ALWAYS carry a water bottle with me. If it’s not in my purse, it’s no further away then my car. Usually it’s a 1L Smart Water bottle that I keep refilling. And I just know that I need to fill it twice at least a day. Having the big bottle helps, because if I carried around a normal water bottle (which I think is 16-20oz, maybe) I would forget how many I had left to finish.

I’m the same exact way. Not to mention, on the weekends I tend to eat saltier and have a drink or two, so I should be consuming MORE water.

I just always carry water around with me on the weekends. I’ll throw a bottle in my purse and drink it throughout the day. Outta sight = outta mind!

I struggle with drinking enough water on the weekends too – SO much easier when I’m sitting at the desk. So I give myself time limits, such as have 2 cups done by 10 AM; another 2 by noon; and so on. If you really struggle, you may also want to have an alarm set on your phone to go off every hour, then when it does, drink 1 cup. Before you know it you’ve gotten the minimum. And of course, the old standby, is drink 2 cups with every meal and 1 with every snack.

I find that the easiest thing for me to do to drink more water is just to make sure I’m drinking some with every snack/meal. 1-2 cups each time and I’ve got my intake to the right level.

I am horrible about drinking water in general – it’s something I’m definitely trying to work on. But I will admit, it’s much easier during the work week when I can have it with my at my desk. On weekends I try to keep a water bottle around to grab-and-go to sip on, but I will be the first to admit that I dont always follow through!

Saw this recipe and thought you might enjoy it!

2L water, 1 medium cucumber, 1 lemon, 10-12 mint leaves. Seep over night and enjoy!

Do you know what makes me drink more water…when I buy a new cute cup! I have a tervis tumbler like yours but with my pink H on it.

    Your sandwich looks delicious!

It is better to get a higher percentage of your water from fresh fruits and drink water when your get a signal from your body to hydrate. There was a woman that died last year from drinking to much water. To much of anything is not good for you. Even the most healthiest of things become bad for your health and well being when abused, even water.

I love my large Tervis tumbler for the exact same reason, goes so much faster with a straw! Is that a cover for the large one? If so where do you find it?? I can’t find one that I can put my straw in! Thanks! Marie
