Drink More Water Mission

June 18, 2012 by Julie 69 Comments

I felt out of it all day today. I had a slight headache and attributed it to my lack of water consumption over the weekend.

I find it much easier to drink a lot of water during the workweek when I’m sitting at my desk and consciously refilling my water cup.

tervis tumbler

Over the weekends my water consumption tends to go way down. I must change this!

Today I went on a “Drink More Water Mission” and thankfully my headache finally dissipated a bit after dinner. I also bought a lemon and cucumber at the grocery store this evening that I plan to add to my water during the week to give it a little extra punch of flavor.

Water = Winner

Dinner

Tonight’s dinner was loosely inspired by my ham and tomato sandwich from yesterday’s lunch.

I made a BLT, but made it with turkey bacon and spinach instead of the traditional bacon and lettuce. I also added muenster cheese and light mayo to the sandwich and served it with a side of roasted broccoli and cauliflower.

I have a feeling this exact meal may pop up again for lunch tomorrow. It was great!

Off to change into my pajamas, fold some laundry, brush my teeth and park my booty on the couch for The Bachelorette tonight. See you in the morning!

Question of the Evening

  • Do you find that you drink more or less water on the weekends?
  • Any tips for drinking more water on the weekends?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I totally agree with you! I have the hardest time maintaining my hydration levels over the weekend as compared to the course of the week. I always try to bring my reusable starbucks cup with me, I’ve found that I drink water so much faster out of a straw. I’ve also been adding ice lately to add the extra sensation!!

I find myself drinking less water on the weekends. So I find keeping my large SIGG bottle full all day just keep filling it when empty helps me. I carry it with me where ever I go too. Good luck drinking more water Julie!

A good reminder to drink more water, especially during the summer. 😛 Your BLT (BST?) looks delicious! I’ll have to try it sometime.

totally agree with the h20 consumption going down on the weekends. I try to carry a water bottle with me in the car doing errands so I remember to drink when Im thirsty! I love having ZERO vitamin waters for a little extra flavah once in a while because plain water can be boring!

I can keep my water intake good as long as I always have water with me. It’s got to be in the car, on my desk, etc. I can’t drink like 32oz of water in one sitting so I have to just slowly drink ALL day. I feel SO much better when I get a lot of water in though. It’s worth always having a water bottle in my purse 🙂

i try to drink a full glass (~12 oz) of water with every meal and snack i eat. i also make sure i take a waterbottle with me wherever i go. both of these help me get my daily intake of water – even on the weekends!

Im actually the opposite… When I’m teaching during the week I can’t exactly leave whenever I need to use the bathroom so I always have to remind myself NOT to drink too much. I hate it, because I know drinking water is so important, but I just don’t have that option!

Of possible interest – maybe you could try looking for an app that reminds you to drink more throughout the day?

    Good Luck!

I just looked for apps (I have android so maybe it would be different for Iphone users or other)

I found two that seem fairly good,

      “Drinking Water” https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=chickpin.water&hl=en

      and

      “Water your Body” https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.northpark.drinkwater&hl=en

If not android users, I’m sure there are other apps out there! 😉

I buy the smart water 1 liter bottles and I drink 1 liter before lunch, 1 liter between lunch and dinner and 1 liter during dinner. We have a reverse osmosis water filtration system and we refill the bottles 5 times before recycling. We use a sharpie to put a tick mark on the cap so we know how many times the water bottle has been refilled. I usually have no problems with water. I struggle to not drink too much! Ha! By the end of the night my water is quite literally clear.

I definitely don’t drink as much water on the weekends as I should be drinking, mostly because I’m busier and on the go more! It helps to bring a bottle of water (or two) with me in the car, and consciously try to finish it.

I drink a lot less water on the weekends too! At work I probably drink 6 cups of water just while I’m there and then another 4 or so at home. On the weekends I’m lucky if I drink 4 cups of water all day! I think I’m just so busy doing stuff and drinking other “fun” beverages 😉 I forget to drink water.

I’m obsessed with constantly carrying a water bottle with me! I have several to-go bottles, and I feel like I’m constantly re-filling them. I LOVE water, and aside from milk (and chocolate milk), I usually don’t drink much else.
I think for me, the hardest time of year to drink “enough” water is in the winter. During the summer, it’s so easy to constantly be drinking water because of the heat….winter, not so much 🙂

I feel naked without it. We could be just going down the street and I will have it with me. I carry it EVERYWHERE!! I think it’s just become habit but I try to drink 2 of the 32oz bottles a day but usually get to 3 after a workout!

When I’m at work I have a water bottle with me, so days that I work it’s easy to get in all the water I need.

Weekends are definitely tougher for me. I try to have a glass of water with me most of the time around the house, so when I do feel like I’m thirsty it’s easy to take sip.

Oddly enough, I have trouble drinking enough water during the week. I work in a lab where we can’t have food or drinks readily available. My solution was to keep a water bottle in the breakroom with marks that signify when I should finish that amount of water (8 am, 12 pm, 4 pm etc). It helps me keep track of my water intake and spreads out the hydration over the work day. Try it out!

Way less for sure, something I also need to work on. During the week at work I fill my 750mL water bottle up and make sure to finish it by 5pm. Plus a glass or two with lunch.
I am going to try the same work day tactic on the weekends, fill up my water bottle and make sure to drink it before supper, and take it with me on errands. That way I am less tempted to stop for iced coffee 😉
