Fall's Finest in a Bowl

October 28, 2009 by Julie 9 Comments

All my love for fall’s finest foods got me thinking… what are winter foods???

It seems like every season has a food. Fall is saturated with squash and apples, but what foods (besides Christmas cookies and hot cocoa) are winter treats? The Googler in me did a quick search and this slideshow from Fitness magazine shed some light on my quandary.

Turns out a lot of foods transcend fall and are winter-ripe too! Mushrooms, pears, squash, apples, figs, beets…

Today’s breakfast was a seasonally appropriate bowl of fall fun.

Oatmeal with pumpkin, Honeycrisp apple chunks and cinnamon protein powder.

I also made a hot mug of Yogi goji berry green tea to round out my breakfast.

Tasty, tasty.

Pumpkin Seeds

Have you carved your pumpkin yet? Don’t throw out the seeds! Click here to read about the health benefits of pumpkin seeds in my latest Examiner article.

Question: What’s your favorite season? What’s your favorite seasonal food?

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I love spring the best for Florida strawberries. I love apples and pears, too, so fall is a close second! 🙂

I love Fall, smelling the leaves and a crisp cool day. Especially when the sun is shining 🙂

However, I love to bake for the Holidays, and am already thinking about what I will make.

I’d say Fall is my favorite season–but I do love watermelon as a summer food 🙂

Pumpkin and oatmeal — yum! I love winter. Hot chocolate is my favorite winter food (if you can call a beverage a food).

I love cinnamon and apples year round…but for fall, my all time favorite is pumpkin spice ANYTHING. I also like do do a lot of maple flavored things in the fall. Who am I kidding, I put pumpkin pie spice in my oats and vanilla whey year round. LOL…

Alchy wise, I love hot apple cider with captian morgans for a festive drink…in the winter that becomes fat free egg nog with captains…nice little bit of spice for ya!
