Green Tea That Doesn’t Taste Like Dirty Water

January 20, 2012 by Julie 144 Comments

Today is a very special day in the Fagan household! Here’s a hint, but in true PBF fashion, you know I’m going to dedicate an entire post to this special day. Stay tuned (if you’re a dog lover, that is)!

Workout

Today’s workout almost didn’t happen.

I tried to convince Ryan to sleep in, but he got up and got dressed and I couldn’t just stay in bed without feeling like I should get my butt in gear and workout. I wasn’t even tired, I was just so warm.

I give you northerners a lot of credit for working out in the winter. If our house temperature falls into the low 60s, I feel like it’s freezing. Such a baby.

As always, once I got to the gym and started working out, I was glad I went. Isn’t that how it always seems to work?

My workout began with 20 minutes on the elliptical before I did my Targeting Triceps arm workout.

Breakfast

I made myself a mock Egg McMuffin today, only I used a toasted whole wheat bagel in place of an English muffin.

The Canadian bacon made this sandwich. I forgot how much flavor it can add to a breakfast sandwich.

I also sipped on a hot mug of Bigelow pomegranate green tea.

I bought this tea yesterday when I saw it on sale at a local health food store.

I fell in love with the pomegranate green tea when Ryan and I were living in a hotel during the first month that we moved to Ocala. (I do not miss that!)

The hotel always had the tea at their daily breakfast buffet and I quickly made drinking a hot mug of the tea part of my morning routine. I typically think green tea tastes like dirty water, but the pomegranate flavor makes this green tea much more palatable. For my fellow Starbucks fanatics, it reminds me a lot of Starbucks passion tea.

Off to get mah work on! I have a lunch meeting today and hope to have a very productive morning.

Question of the Morning

  • Tea drinkers: What is your favorite kind of tea?

I’m always on the lookout for new kinds of tea to try and would love your recommendations. My favorite is Yogi Egyptian Licorice Mint. Sounds strange, tastes great.

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

That’s me every morning during the winter: It’s freezing, I don’t want to move from the warm covers, my boyfriends gets up, i feel guilty so I wake up with him , and then I come home soooo happy then I went and didn’t skip!

I recently bought Yogi green tea kombucha. Even though it’s a bit pricey, it has a really great taste! I definitely recommend it!

I don’t drink coffee at all and prefer tea. I love Tazo Awake with a bit of milk. It’s black tea. My husband travels to China for work so right now I am spoiled to have some amazing white, green and black teas that he brought home for me. That pomegranite green sounds good. The trick I’ve found with green tea is to use water that is not quite boiling and only steep it for about a minute or minute and a half. Longer and you get more of the tannins and that more acidic taste.

Dirty water?! You crazy! Green tea is the best! Well, no, that’s a lie. Cinnamon tea is the best, with green tea as a close second. Although I guess I don’t like all green tea…but it’s pretty much all I ever order when I go out for coffee (since, you know, I don’t like coffee haha). Once I realized that green tea saves about 200 calories and like $2-3 over hot chocolate (my previous go-to item) I’ve been a green tea fiend. Love it.

I think green tea tastes like dirt too!! The only kind I can drink is Bentley’s. I’ve gotten to where I like it with lemon and honey. I also love pomegranate teas (Arizona tea makes a great one) and I love most other fruit flavored teas. Right now I have Celestial’s raspberry zinger and country peach passion- both awesome!! I like my tea without sugar or anything, and these are great all on their own, no additives necessary!

Can’t beat a cup of PG Tips with milk and one sugar! However, I predominantly drink green tea – mostly for its health benefits and I just feel so ‘clean’ after drinking it. The taste has grown on me over the years 🙂

I like black teas the best, particularly any kind of rose black tea, and Republic of Tea ginger peach, yum! I’m not huge on green tea except for the Tazo ginger green tea flavor…but I don’t hate it either, the key is not to oversteep it – a minute is enough, sometimes even less!

That pomegranate green tea is good! I took to drinking tea a couple of years ago after my mom started drinking it. I knew green tea was good for you, but I couldn’t stand the taste. Green tea with some kind of fruity flavor is all I’ll drink.

The Republic of Tea has some good green teas, too – pomegranate, blueberry, apple blossom, pink lemonade, pink grapefruit. These pink ones are from their “Sip for a Cure” line that supports the Susan G. Komen foundation.
