Head-ah-cha-cha

June 21, 2011 by Julie 87 Comments

This morning I awoke with a headache… or a “head-ah-cha-cha,” as Ryan and I say. (Any other Everybody Loves Raymond fans out there?)

I don’t typically get headaches, so I wasn’t really sure how to approach my morning workout. My body felt fine, but my head just wasn’t right.

I walked to the gym with Ryan, saying I’d take it a bit easy on the cardio this morning. I completed 20 minutes on the treadmill (10 minutes of incline walking, 10 minutes of jogging) before rounding out my cardio with 10 minutes of light cardio on the elliptical.

Since my headache was still lingering, I decided to head upstairs and take a yoga class. Calming stretches and methodic breathing sounded perfect. And it was.

I emerged from the yoga class feeling much better. My headache dissipated for the most part and I was ready to tackle the day.

Or, you know, a 40-minute walk with this monster:

We walked around the lake near our apartment before heading home to gossip about The Bachelorette on the PBF Facebook page make breakfast.

Breakfast

Oddly enough, my taste buds were pining for something savory this morning. As a full-fledged sweets lover, I typically prefer to start my day on a sweet note with smoothies, yogurt bowls or chocolate overnight oats.

Today, however, I wanted last night’s dinner!

I took a leftover salmon burger and served it atop a toasted onion bagel with an egg white.

Enjoyed with a hot mug of coffee and a fresh nectarine, this breakfast was on point!

Random Thought

Just a random thought I had this morning that I have to get off my chest before signing off for the morning…

How come you never see a rogue eyebrow hair in its intermediary stage? It’s like it grows into a beast overnight! How does this happen?

Feel free to share an obscure thought you’ve had today in the comments section of this post. I love getting a little random up in here!

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

haha so true about eyebrow hairs. Or sometimes I get mysterious hairs that grow like a 1/2 inch below my hair line on my forehead that appear overnight!? That sounds gross, but they’re very fine, almost white, not like a typical piece of hair on your head.

I loved the Bachelorette last night. I’m really starting to like her but the whole Bentley thing is bothersome. I feel so bad for her because I’ve been there. Why do us girls like the bad boys? I tell ya!

    Glad your headache is gone.

My random thought? Last night in spinning, I tried to think of motivation to make me spin faster. First I thought about this date I’m going on with a guy I like, but that didn’t work. Then I thought about this bad boy “Bentley” type who makes me angry and I spun my little legs off. Why does anger fuel me so much?? I don’t know but anyway, I’m glad that bad boy helped me have a more productive spinning class. At least he’s good for something 😉

HAHAHAAH! I love the eyebrow comment! It’s so true as well – one day you think your brows are looking fine, and the next, there’s one big glaring hair out of place!
I’m glad your head is feeling better. Sometimes I wake up with a headache but usually getting my workout over with helps to get rid of it. Must be all that oxygen flowing to my brain!

My random thought of the day is why does Ashley on the Bachelorette keep talking about Bentley like they had some long term love affair?! They didn’t even have a one on one date. Obscure thought of this morning: What were flavor developers thinking when they came up with the flavor of “grape” candy or gum? Because, having just had a piece of grape taffy, and comparing it to an actual grape, I am pretty sure they must have gotten their inspiration elsewhere….

Random thought – Do you ever hear people complain over & over again about their weight and then you see them ALWAYS eating unhealthy foods and you feel it’s inappropriate to say anything?

And girlfriend needs to get over Bentley ASAP. There are way cuter/sweeter guys on the show. I have a crush on Blake 🙂

Eyebrow hairs gone rogue are the WORST! But it’s even worse when you notice it in the middle of the day, when you’ve already been at work and talked to people. Aghhhh.

Randomness..hmm…inspired by your love of 90s music (which I share…we’re the same age), I tried out Pandora’s 90s Pop station yesterday and it is AWESOME!! I made it through a fairly speedy 5k (in the 94 degree heat, ugh, at 8 pm!) thanks to Salt n Pepa, the Cranberries, Spice Girls, Coolio, Sister Hazel, and more. Waking up with headaches is the worst. I usually just use it as an excuse for extra coffee 😀 True story: my eyebrows grow so fast that EVERY SINGLE TIME I go to get them waxed (like every 2 weeks at times), they ask me “Dis your first tiiime?” TRUE STORY. I’m like no, I was here on the 13th, give me a break!

And my random thought: I was sitting on my porch eating breakfast when I suddenly noticed that the nice porch across the way with the yellow flowers actually belonged to boys! I thought about how nice this was all through breakfast. Boys! with yellow flowers and a big dog!

You can spot the rogue eyebrow hairs in their beginning stages if you have a REALLY powerful mirror. My mother has one we call the Mirror of Shame because you see EVERY flaw, even ones that aren’t clear to the naked eye.

There is a setback to this method: there’s a beginning stage where you can see the hair growing in but it’s still to short to do anything about, much as you may try. It’s like the Mirror of Shame is tricking you and throwing the inevitability of rogue eyebrow hairs in your face. The Mirror is a crafty minx.
