Hole in the Wall

September 8, 2011 by Julie 121 Comments

Yes it’s still in the 80s outside, but it’s never too hot for the crock pot!

Tonight marked our first crock pot meal since moving into our new home.

I am still not over the wonderful feeling I have while preparing dinner in our new kitchen. One month without an oven, stove or other kitchen gadgets sure made me appreciate the things I typically have access to on a daily basis.

Our inaugural crock pot meal was BBQ chicken sandwiches.

bbq chicken crockpot 004

Served on a hotdog bun for some summer fun. (Fall doesn’t officially begin until September 23.)

On the side we ate parsnip fries, prepared the same way I make rutabaga fries, only I didn’t peel the parsnips. Easily one of my all-time favorite veggie sides!

A great crock pot kick off meal if you ask me!

Hole in the Wall

Last night as Ryan and I were relaxing on the couch floor, he was flipping through the channels and stopped immediately when he stumbled upon a game show.

“Have you seen this?” he asked me.

I looked at the screen, assessed the silver jumpsuits worn by the players and said, “Absolutely not.”

“You have to watch this.”

So what was the show? Hole in the Wall.

The players literally have to contort their bodies to fit through the hole in a moving wall.

How is this even a show!?!?

…And how can I get on it? Winking smile

Those are some seriously snazzy jumpsuits. A Halloween idea, perhaps?

Question of the Evening

  • If you could be on any game show, what game show would want to be on?

Since I’m pretty sure Legends of the Hidden Temple and Guts are no longer viable options (oh how I longed for a piece of the Agro Crag), I think I would choose to be on Don’t Forget the Lyrics, the show where people have to complete the lyrics of songs for money. I feel like I know the words to a lot of totally random songs, so that would probably be my best bet. I don’t know how I’d get around the actually singing part of that show though…

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I’ve seen that show before. It’s so funny to watch but seriously…so stupid! I was OBSESSED with Legends of the hidden temple as a kid. Gameshows were so much cooler then.

I used to watch Legends of the Hidden Temple religiously. AND my friends and I would try and create our own Guts moments (racing up mulch mountains and screaming “Guuuuts!” etc…). Good times.

I think it would be awesome to win Jeopardy.

P.S. I saw this JTT tribute video today: http://nymag.com/daily/entertainment/2011/09/jtt_30th_birthday_slideshow.html

That looks like SO much fun! I could do anything with song lyrics.

LOVE on my crockpot all summer and winter. Have a great pulled pork bbq recipe.

How do you make the fries? I love rutabaga’s but not sure if you just bake them or coat them first?

I’ve seen that hole int he wall show. It’s fun for about 5 minutes and becomes kind of boring.

The one show I’d love to be on is Wipeout! it looks like so much fun, and take a little bit of agility and skill.

It was part of a funky game show on Japanese TV. It was one of many games. When America aired “I survived a Japenese game show” two summers ago that part rated well. I have no idea why they made it a single show but it’s good for boring evening when I’ve finished my book.

And by “applied” I mean we smooth-talked our way to the front of the line at an open casting call to get an on-camera interview. One of these days we’ll get a call back!

I’d love to be on jeopardy. Or the biggest loser. Does that count? I don’t think I’d really qualify for biggest loser, but it looks so fun!!
