Hot ‘n’ Cold

January 22, 2014 by Julie 97 Comments

When the alarm went off this morning, I rolled over and told Ryan I was going to sleep in. Ryan continued to get ready for the gym and as I curled up into a ball under the sheets, I began to feel more and more awake.

I told myself to go back to sleep, but then I thought about how I’d feel once I returned home from the gym. Just the thought of that post-workout high got me out of bed.

Today’s workout began with a 20 minute incline walking warm up followed by a strength training session that focused on my legs.

Breakfast

Breakfast this morning started with a hot cup of coffee…

keurig coffee

And ended with a cold smoothie!

chocolate banana protein smoothie

In this smoothie:

  • 1 frozen banana
  • 1 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/2 cup frozen raspberries
  • 1 spoonful almond butter
  • 1 scoop chocolate protein powder
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa powder
  • 1 handful fresh spinach
  • Enough almond milk to get everything moving

Now I’m freezing and think it may be time for a hot mug of tea to warm be back up before work.

Question of the Morning

I’m planning to share my latest workout playlist with you guys soon, so I ask you…

  • What song are you loving on your workout playlist lately?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I almost rolled over and stayed in bed too, but felt so much better on the drive to work after the gym. It’s amazing how much sweating first thing impacts your day. I haven’t updated my playlist in awhile. Looking forward to seeing yours!

I always do that in the mornings! Our alarm goes off between 5:15 and 5:25, the husband always jumps right up… I normally lay for another minute then get myself going. Some mornings it is SO hard, but even on times when I’ve skipped, it’s hard to go back to sleep so I can usually motivate myself to get up and go. It’s always worth it once the workout is done 🙂

I love a mix of different type of music in my playlists! All are up beat though. Surprisingly, the ones I end up loving the most I hear the least on the radio, like “Strangers” and “Take Me Home.”

Here is my latest group of favorites: http://housewifeglamour.com/fitness/winter-2013-14-workout-playlist/

Also, good for you for getting to the gym! I did the same thing last night. So close to bailing, but felt like a million bucks after! 🙂

I don’t have ONE specific song I love working out to, but I’ve been obsessed with the workout playlists on Songza, which is one of the best apps ever!! There are dozens of different playlists and ZERO advertisements! Win win!! Hope you were able to warm back up- we’re having a snow day here in Boston! We got 17 inches of snow last night, BOO!

Good for you for getting out of bed anyway — I find that once I wake up in the morning, even if I’m still tired, I don’t really get anymore actual restful sleep by staying in bed. So I might as well get up and do something productive! 🙂
