Marriage License & Wedding Bands

October 1, 2010 by Julie 39 Comments

Well, we did it!

IMAG0029

IMAG0030

We got our marriage license… but not until after I spilled a bottle of water in my purse and broke my digital camera. 🙁

I am still hoping it’ll come back to life…

I don’t want to dwell on my camera situation (I do still have an awesome Nikon D3000 that I can use), but I really, really hope my Canon PowerShot S90 revives itself soon. That baby was not cheap and I love it oh-so-much. Plus, its small size makes it much more convenient to tote around. Fingers crossed!

Aaanyway…

The marriage license process was a breeze! We were in and out of the courthouse and I was back to work in less than 30 minutes!

Both Ryan and I commented on how unbelievably easy it is to get a marriage license. I thought we’d have to fill out some intensive paperwork at the least, but really all we needed was proof of identification.

It was kinda crazy to see our names on a legal document together We’re gonna be legally bound together forev-ahhh in 30 days! 😀

Wedding Bands

Once I got off work, I swung by our apartment and picked up Ryan (and my other camera) and we headed to the jeweler to pick up our wedding bands.

257Gosh, I love our bands!

Ryan and I both wanted to wear our wedding bands to dinner, but weren’t sure if that was bad luck. They’re sittin’ pretty in their jewelry box as we speak.

Dinner

Since we were already in Winter Park picking up our bands, we decided to stay in the area for dinner and dessert.

My only requirement was that we visit Menchie’s, an awesome frozen yogurt place, after dinner.

Ryan selected a dinner location that was right next door to the fro yo place.

menchies 031After checking out the menu at the Green Lemon Cafe, the restaurant seemed to have a lot of delicious and healthy options, which appealed to both of us.

We decided to split a giant roast beef sandwich with a side of chips.

menchies 034 menchies 035Ryan actually said that this sandwich would’ve been his perfect sandwich had the portion of meat been doubled. It really was delicious and we both commented on how much we loved the mustard they used. It was slightly spicy and full of flavor.

Dessert

After enjoying our meal outside, we headed over to Menchie’s to fill up on frozen yogurt for dessert.

Ryan and I each grabbed a cup and I filled mine up with many different flavors and loaded on the toppings.

menchies 037

My cup included a mix of pumpkin, red velvet cake, peanut butter and chocolate frozen yogurt and was topped with crushed Thin Mint cookies, toffee bits, cheesecake bits, crushed peanut butter cups, Cool Whip and butterscotch.  menchies 039I always knew I could hold my own when it comes to ice cream and fro yo, but I didn’t actually expect my cup to really stack up to Ryan’s. Buuuut when they weighed in our cups, our cups weighed exactly the same.

Since clearly Ryan and I are an even match when it comes to sweets, I didn’t object when he suggested heading over to Whole Foods to pick up one of their phenomenal oatmeal chocolate chip cookies and some goodies for the weekend.menchies 043I know this may be a bold statement, but these cookies may just be my all-time favorite cookies (aside from my grandma’s sugar cookies).

They’re huge, moist, full of chocolate chips and totally delicious.

I want another one.

Now my butt has finally hit the couch and I don’t anticipate moving for the rest of the evening. Ryan and I are both pretty pooped and we have a busy weekend ahead of us… including a special dinner tomorrow night.

See ya when the sun comes up! :D

hey! i have been reading your blog for a few weeks, but never really comment.. But when i heard you got your camera wet i had to put in my 2 cents! this happened to me just a few weeks ago, all you have to do is remove the battery and memory card and put the camera into a bag of rice for as long as you can manage without using it (2 days usually does the trick) the rice will suck all the moisture out of the camera and have it working like new in no time!
hope this helps and thanks for all the healthy food inspiration you give me!

Your post made me remember how great a feeling it was to pick up our marriage license and now my husband and I have been married a year. Congrats on your upcoming wedding!

We’re headed to Orlando for a week in February to escape the brutal Wisconsin winter and we’ll have to head to Winter Park for Menchie’s.

I have a similar camera to that. It’s a Canon Powershot and those babies work like magic! They’re so easy to use. I also have a Canon Rebel XTi, but the Powershot is easier to take with me.

i got really concerned that there was an egg with a runny yolk on top of your frozen yogurt – really relived to see its cool whip and butterscotch. they seem much more fitting for dessert!
