Mid-Week Break

June 2, 2010 by Julie 31 Comments

Last week I loved the way my body felt after cramming an inordinate amount of veggies into my lunch in the form of a mega-salad, so I decided to keep the fun rollin’ and made another ginormous salad today.

Large and In Charge

“Could this salad BE any bigger?” (Said in a Chandler Bing voice, of course. 😉 )

This time my salad included:

  • Chopped romaine lettuce
  • Cabbage
  • Grape tomatoes
  • Carrots
  • Cucumber
  • Goat cheese
  • Balsamic vinegar and olive oil

Pretty Veggies

I’m feeling the veggie vibes throughout my body now! Maybe I’m insane, but after eating a huge salad, I really do feel more energized. Even if it’s all in my head, I’ll take it! J

Along with my salad, I had a cup of Dannon Greek yogurt with honey for protein and a little sweetness.

Mid-Week Break

Though I love my job, sometimes I think about what I would do if I had a day off in the middle of the week.

Since weekends are often crammed with social activities and plans with family and friends, a mid-week break sure would be nice sometimes.

With an extra day off in the middle of the week I would:

  • Sleep in
  • Take Sadie to the dog park
  • Do laundry
  • Work out and take time to explore new strength training exercises
  • Take a yoga class at my gym (The one that they only seem to offer in the middle of the work day)
  • Make a more involved dinner
  • Run errands
  • Finally address our save the dates
  • Get a pedicure
  • Read my book

What would you do if you had a day off in the middle of the week?

Be sure to follow PBFingers on Instagram and Facebook!

I'd love to connect with you! I am always so grateful when you let me know you tried one of my recipes or workouts and tag me in your photos or updates. Thank you so much!!!

I often think that having Wednesday off would be perfect, too. I would sleep, get in a long workout, read, clean…eat. 🙂

That’s quite the Greek lunch you got there today. I used to make a similar all the time when I was on the South Beach Diet – very light ‘n’ refreshing.

A lot of the same things on your list (minus the save the dates)! It’s difficult trying to accomplish errands and chores around a normal work schedule. I would love to work from home just once a week so I could accomplish some cleaning, tasks like bill paying, and spending some quality time with the pup! I call those days catch up day!

I would definitely take a yoga class b/c my gym only seems to offer mid-day classes as well. That, and I would take the time to make fancier meals for myself that day. Maybe that day would also become my laundry day? Goodness, the possibilities are endless!

I call them mental health days 😉
I’d do a lot of errands, laundry, spend extra time at the gym, clean up my apartment, and just relax and enjoy the day at a slower pace!

That salad looks to be just about my size too…perfect lunch 🙂 I’d love a day off in the middle of the week…it would make getting homework and studying done a thousand times easier during the school year! Such is life, I guess!

I would probably do pretty much the same things you would do – take a yoga class, take the dogs on a walk or hike, read a book, and clean.

After I cry tears of joy? Sleep in, work out when I wake up, read a lot, do tons of chores that shouldn’t be left to the weekend, make awesome lunches, and otherwise revive myself for two more days of work.

    That would be so nice.

I actually DO have days off in the middle of the week. I was off yesterday and I’m off today. I slept later than usual, cooked more time consuming meals, caught up on blogs, read a book, laid out in the sun, watched some television, and had the energy to go for a run. With all of the said, I will be working on Saturday and Sunday when everyone else if off. 🙁

whats great about my job is that 2-3 times a week I start at 5am so i am out at 1245 for the DAY! so its as if I have days off during the week, but i really did work a full 8 hours. I love it in the summer especially because I can take advantage of the weather
I am SO into HUGE JASS salads toO! 🙂

Haha, too perfect of a post for me today, since I actually took today off!
So far, it’s been enjoyed with a nice morning run, a trip to the almost-empty grocery store (awesome), catching up on magazines, watching The View, enjoying my lunch for more than 10 minutes, and laying out in the sun.
I think mid-week breaks should be mandatory 😉

Luckily for me, I do have Wednesdays off. I run errands, relax, hit the gym, and do everything that I’m too busy for working weekends.

Many would say I have everyday off…but seriously I think staying at home with a little one is almost harder than a normal office job! I would head out on my deck for 2 hours of uninterrupted reading…in the sun!

I would get up early for a run and then come home, sit out by the pool with a good book and NAP! That sounds so amazing, I wish I could be doing it now!

Go to a random group fitness class since there are so many in the middle of the day (maybe even try yoga) – read read read – lay out in the sun and catch my vitamin D – watch Live with Regis and Kelly.

I’m so happy to say that my school is out for summer, so (at least for now) I have the day off every day! I am getting a job, though, so that will change soon. I’m using my time off to get some good long workouts in, start up my blog again (!!), and RELAX (something I haven’t had the chance to do since… last summer?!)

That salad looks good! I made one the other day with green leaf lettuce, tomato, black beans, walnuts, red & green peppers, a little shredded white cheddar, topped with avocado & hot sauce! It was quite the meal.

If I had a day off in the middle of the week, I would clean my house, organize my closet and donate things I haven’t worn in a while, take the dog for a looong walk, make a great dinner, and get a good workout in.

I always wish that I had days off in the middle of the week but when I actually get one it’s usually because I’m sick 🙁
My dream day off in the middle of the week would probably be to catch up on laundry (what a never-ending chore!), go biking, and take a class in at my gym (they all seem to be mid-morning here).
Also, that salad looks gooood! I may have to create something similar for my lunch tomorrow.

I’m a nurse (surprise!) and I have week-days off all the time. I basically do everything you listed! I’ve worked 9-5 M-F jobs and I felt so much pressure when the weekend came, but I get so much done on weekdays. Plus, everything’s less crowded because everyone else is at work!
